so far, that has stayed a toy on my nightstand that I charge and play with once in a while. I tried to put service on it (US Mobile Black Star) but even with extensive help from their support we couldn't figure it out.
A lot of things don't work for me (neither the bitwarden app or Firefox extensions work for example) and I came to the conclusion that it's not ready for me to use even for small day trips.
I'll keep updating it and see how it evolves..

yeah, same for any type of art really. Most people peddling genAI never held a brush, a camera, a drum stick, or used any musical equipment or software. "i suck at it so it must be hard and useless and everybody must hate it".
Honestly tho, I'm glad we now have a gap to separate real artists from posers.

I didn't put a sim card in it yet. I'm gonna keep my current phone as my main, since I rely heavily on notifications from Slack, Jira, etc for work, but I will put a small plan on this so I can start using it on weekend.
Things like driving directions, music streaming in the background, checking emails, etc will really tell me if this is really livable :)

the video doesn't even acknowledge another huge issue with the extension. It requires to have access to ALL your browsing, and there is no way they don't also create profiles and sell this data also.

i have all my music on a NAS, and I use plex when I'm local. My NAS also one-way sync my music to my dropbox, so I can either use plexamp on my phone, or CloudPlayer if I want to keep offline music on my phone just in case. Hope it helps 😄

I can feel a fairly precise 1 min or 2 min timer. It's relatively frequent that I reheat something and I walk back to the microwave with 1 or 2 seconds left. Not sure how useful that is tho 😂

Elle has been having a ton of problems connecting to our NAS via SMB on our LAN. It seems macOS doesn't like QNAP NAS very much, or vice-versa lol
As for the printer, IDK, Linux must be doing some magic for Brother printers to work without having to install anything?

I'm actually amazed by the amount of apps I have to install for things to work lol.
I had to install an app to change the monitor volume, an app to access my NAS, an app to print on my Brother printer, and an app to remap one button on my mouse 😬

Has anybody made a native wrapper that associates and handles local .tldr (TLDraw files) files?
I love the service, but I really would like to be able to double-click local .tldr files.
I know you can use tldraw.com to open / save files, or the VSCode extension to have basically what I want, but VSCode feels like the wrong shell to do breadboarding / UX flows.
A clean Gnome app would be even better ;-D

ah thanks! Yeah I've seen postmarket running pretty well on OnePlus 6T as well, but I really don't want to deal with flashing and maintaining stuff manually. Desktop Linux is enough tinkering for me lol.
It might still be too early… I'm just getting really eager to move off Android on my phone 😅

Job update: I joined Nex (nex.inc) as Director of Product Design for playOS, the OS powering the Nex Playground.
I'll be designing the base OS to support a lot of cool games to keep kids active. Very importantly (to me), the console has: no app store, no in app-purchases, no designing games around marketing, not even a web browser on the device. (And a physical camera cover when you don't use it). A safe console for kids to get off the couch.
Also it's a pretty cute hardware 😄

a good (but very frustrating) example of open-source that is not self-guaranteeing are open source fonts. Most of them rely on an expensive, proprietary software only running on a proprietary OS to be authored. Only the building process is more or less doable using only FOSS.

yeah I hear you, combat would change the game radically. I *love* what Eastshade did with their "no-combat Skyrim", and I thoroughly enjoyed finding beautiful places to paint and fill in requests and quests. Maybe a mechanics like this to create structure and encourage exploration could work. Congrats on the release!

trust me, I have very little knowledge of gnome app developement either, I just had a frustrating unfulfilled need 😄
Just open the project in Gnome Builder, say yes to install the needed framework and press play to build (you might need to restart after installing all frameworks). The app is basically in `src/main.py`. It's messy, but maybe it's just a starting point :)

OLED laptop screens create the worse dilemma for me. The minmaxer in me has to use the darkest possible dark theme to optimize battery life, while the astigmatic in me really would prefer a light theme thank you very much 🥲

and yet a lot of UIs show "See results", and a quarter of people think it's the correct way. I think some of it has to do with the reticence of some people to give direct order, some has to do with how people empathize and project themselves. Language is hard, but in the abstract, your logic seems correct.
I also think people are getting used to describing what they want (thanks NLP/AI), instead of giving orders maybe.
