Pro #AI #Coding Tip: Describe the bug you're trying to solve, ask AI to add extra debug logs to help it troubleshoot, then tell the AI you will reproduce the issue and share the logs with it to help it solve the bug.
My use case: I was trying to work with this intermittent issue that wasn't possible (or easy) to reproduce in an integration test. The AI kept making changes that just weren't correct and weren't solving the problem. Even with high thinking mode.
After asking it to add debug logs and reproducing it, it solved it instantly.
If AI coding isn't working for you, take a step back and ask yourself: what context is the AI missing to solve this?

For #nostr #developers how do you decide which relay URL to use? I have a system that transmits notes to multiple relays, but for things like reposts (NIP-18) struggling to decide how to determine which relay URL to use for that.
Obviously choosing an unreliable relay or a relay that eventually goes offline isn't a good practice. And it doesn't look like there is a way to define multiple relay URLs.
What do you all do for this?

This took a lot of engineering effort throughout the entire stack to get working. #Mastodon & #Bluesky bots had this feature for a while, but due to the decentralized nature of #nostr this was more difficult than just uploading an image to a central server.

What client are you using to do that? I didn’t specify and that is my bad. But I’m talking about just raw #nostr events. Not things that clients do special.
Looks like some image posts on #nostr contain tags for imeta. And things like blurhash. Which I’m not entirely sure how to generate.

Yep. I mean maybe not 100% from scratch. Most software has some external dependencies these days. But coding it yourself instead of just using existing nostr relay software that someone else created.

Just pushed a major update to @npub1nzr…36v5 vastly improving the logic for determining the reasons behind delays. This should lead to more detailed and accurate delay explanations. Additionally, many infrequent airport delay reasons have been added.
There is still more work to be done, but this is meaningful progress towards increasing delay transparency for travelers.

NIP-17 is awful. I can’t even get it to work. Obviously I’m doing something really dumb, but spent a few days before giving up.
This is exactly where #nostr could fail. The NIP process is long and tedious, yet incomplete. Is anyone thinking about the scalability and long term impacts of these proposals? More time should be spent on that as opposed to all these dumb little proposals that have almost no usage. Let’s get the foundation right first.

One other thing about this I forgot to mention. You should be able to view the entire history the npub. #nostr doesn’t really support deleting notes, so you should be able to view the entire history to backup my claim that it wasn’t reused and has only been used for that project.
The whole point of #nostr is to verify not trust. So don’t trust my word, verify it yourself 😉.
If you do happen to remember why you blocked it or anything, please let me know. I’m committed to addressing any concerns or problems the community has in regards to it. (Also all the source code is open source, so also trying to be transparent too) ✈️

@npub1nzr…36v5 now supports direct messages! Message the bot and ask it questions and it will reply with some useful information. This feature is in alpha, and still in active development. But wanted to ship it to get feedback.
On a more technical note, NIP-17 I couldn't get to work at all with it (only supports NIP-04). Asked in the #nostr telegram and didn't get any replies. If anyone wants to take a look and help debug, let me know. But I think #nostr is on track to fail miserably if developers can't even figure out how to use non-deprecated standards after spending days on it.

Reminds me almost exactly of my experience with Cash App. Such a poor customer experience.
Starts to make me wonder if these customer support teams are just awful, or if there is some government regulation that prevents appeals and prevents telling the customer why their account was locked.

As far as I know, NIP-42 is implemented in Damus TestFlight. It’s just requests made prior to that auth command aren’t retried. Which is a (fairly) minor edge case. By and large it should be working tho.

After upgrading to #iOS 17.3 my #iPhone froze after entering my passcode on first boot. After a little bit it went into a recovery screen and asked me to enter my passcode twice. Then launched an "Attempting Data Recovery" screen for a while.
Luckily everything (as far as I can tell) seems to be working, but still scary regardless.
I have backups and everything, but restoring from backup is always a stressful hassle.

I think there is a difference between users, and relay operators here. The biggest benefits to interoperability are for users.
I think the other assumption with your comment seems to be that of a single relay model. #nostr isn’t a single relay (or server) model. It can be if the user decides to go down that path. But it doesn’t have to be.
Client devs tho benefit off of interoperability because it brings more content into #nostr. Which leads to a better user experience.

Are on-chain fees cheap and accessible right now? It truly depends on the use cases. Some use cases are completely impossible today due to on-chain fees.
I wouldn’t say on-chain fees are cheap or accessible today.
If you’re moving lots of Bitcoin, then sure it’s cheap. But smaller transactions exist. And it’s big business.
