Last Notes npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Doh! 😂 npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Its absolutely better than an apartment in the city or even a house in the burbs, the only thing I hear at night are owls and coyotes npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Thanks! npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Thanks, nights and weekends while working full time, glad to dine with the hard part npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Question. After doomscrolling on X and seeing all the rape gang stuff, illegals hacking people up with machetes, harassing women, and what seems like a general take over of local governments, I have to wonder…is it really that bad in Europe right now? Seems like it with all the video footage I’ve seen. npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine I think he actually was around back then lol npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Doesn’t take long to fade does it npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Whoa, now I’ve seen some footage of jellyfish like UFO’s but if he was actually attacked that kind of changes things a bit npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Ya we lived and cramper while we built, that was a hot summer, like being in an oven. We were definitely happy to move into the cabin. npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Not quite lol, we only have like 3 months of hot, a couple months of perfect 60’s and 70’s, then it gets cold a hell and the only good thing in that is all the damn bugs are dead npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine What’s happening on over there is absolutely insane. Just know that there’s a ton of us over here in the U.S. cheering you on while you’re trying to take your countries back. None of what’s happening is right and it’s the governments fault! npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine And you never really own your land or house. If you don’t pay taxes, they take it away. You will forever rent from the government. Sad npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine I wish I had one, our cabin is on blocks. An actual poured foundation was out of the question when we started because we were trying to do this debt free. Most all camps and cabins up here are on blocks or stone and it works just fine npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine We’re in the process of building a downstairs bedroom that can’t get done soon enough npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine One little sucky thing about living off grid, and it doesn’t have to be this way, is that whatever temp it t is outside-it is inside and even hotter in the loft where we sleep. I only have enough solar for a night fan, well until I win the lottery that is. Happy summer! https://blossom.primal.net/2d65a658423857a93f445d019f543d14082197686f060f595aba14bfd5532cef.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Lookin good npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Coming to a country near you. I hope people rise up and change their government over there, the whole world it seems is almost at the point of no return and it’s obvious the governments don’t give one shit, hell they caused this npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine So what your saying is you found your dealer because now your going to be addicted to fresh eggs. No going back now npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Ok maybe, but there are actual people here, unlike X with a gazilion bots and fake accounts. X is good for making you angry at the world and what’s happening. This, this is refreshing npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine But I’m not dead yet… npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine I didn’t know coffee was all white and fluffy, mines black npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Wait, I don’t see a cast iron pan there, something’s wrong! npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Nice we just headed into #7 up here in Maine. Built everything from scratch on raw land without any fancy expensive equipment, it can be done npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Been working on a downstairs bedroom as it’s wayyy to hot in the loft in both the summer and the winter with the wood stove going. We are doing this addition like everything else we’ve done here as in when we have extra cash we buy materials and do a little bit. Nobody needs debt https://blossom.primal.net/39b978bc146ac64282709184399b746535742ef710256f6a90249b51ef26ee90.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Looks nice and warm, our first just left the ground up here, just have buds starting on the shrubs right now npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Still the trout aren’t biting, water is probably a bit cold still after the ice finally went out. Beautiful spot,12 miles up logging roads to get here https://blossom.primal.net/69e291278f023a24af54fe7eb39544db7ea7b1f4f0b349afc438918a72c564e6.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/1a3e83fc943ac49956ffda4b3f2c2b1c10c11c78e6e1a97a95f0202bb56b902d.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine It didn’t come out but the sign on that camp says Camp Quityerbitchen lol, not my place, I bitch all the time npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine 35, raining, and no fish. Season just started and as usual there’s still ice in the lakes and it’s too cold. I did try though https://blossom.primal.net/7f51cfdcd54ae529d359cee2d5ef9ca773e969aef06d60268841a481ee8a0b42.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/ac66d524f7ebce3c6a2f727673d465c38bda49ba90dfda9b2030fba3d4a3181b.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/e15d138ed130ce902f81e649354ba907ea0d76517d9440ae4f81b0644ce26f30.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Time to get those brush piles burned before the snow melts. 2 down and 2 to go https://blossom.primal.net/4b7849eb8b21bb63829d693c41b9d65d5cdb628b6144a93c73898ac11df5be8b.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine lol the actual dump or transfer station if you prefer npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Got the pleasure of watching a local swamp donkey nibbling on some twigs on my way home from the dump today. This guy was right beside the road, I sure hope he backs off into the woods so he doesn’t get hit https://blossom.primal.net/47df18fac987b4653084fdc69c009ecaa9be5813568cd5c2d39386567e4059c0.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine But Sharks! npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Yessa! npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Nice! We take a canoe trip down the river to harvest wild elderberry, way fun npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine It’s easy. Once you start to identify the mushrooms and plants on your hikes and which ones are useful you’re good to go. After that just research how to preserve and use them. Free medicine npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Fall, the bugs have all gone back to hell npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine It was this cold walking the dog this morning in Maine. We usually get at least a couple weeks of below zero at night up here. My coldest morning in the outhouse was -28F, I have been unable to beat that https://blossom.primal.net/56d96989a4081f652106bc212c856d1c05aaef5d3b47d0757ec825133a4c292a.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Anyone else hike in the woods to harvest wild plants and mushrooms to make their own medicine for the year? We just finished up the Chaga and Reishi this morning. Mullein is absolutely amazing for breathing issues https://blossom.primal.net/fabe94f40a4b610b2a740d066682e50fd9b9fd7af6bc65b2b1a8370f5e1d1e86.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Look, it must be the end of January already! Wow, winter is flying by here in Maine! No seriously though, what the hell is this crap in December, way to early https://blossom.primal.net/7cb868a9b9332ec824f6aaa1767252123c7920414757681e8ffd07e026458343.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine You can’t not love fresh eggs, I wouldn’t live without mine that’s for sure npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Don’t forget to put your garlic in, now’s the time up here in Maine. Planted 75-80 cloves here. Garlic is a no brainer, so easy, just have to compost and mulch them in as the like rich soil https://blossom.primal.net/92caeaeacdd7e15a8edd9b3e23045a629a826043c9978fa56f76dd2b5c4a726d.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/a6bdf180fb3e438e050afd576a319b7a5fa0749ec7278255216a2ad307e46e52.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/c68f4f32fab97e7fedd4079eb2031480ebe2fbc19c1912c2f84b109993c5ad89.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine I guess it’s time to put the studded snows on the truck. Wood stove is going at least at night now and it feels like winter is not far away https://blossom.primal.net/d771092764a0696d11efc87b98e7a4fcafbfb008bfe57f9e350cc6666b64e5b3.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Might heat up a little too much being metal, keep it moist npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine I’m getting the evil eye this morning https://blossom.primal.net/05ad195779a581250b2f92203965c2782cf881d017e321204f56666e46c87173.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine I used to canoe down the river to harvest enough wild elderberries to get me through the winter but the wild ones I planted are now producing better that I thought. Now I can just worry about fishing when I’m going down the river https://blossom.primal.net/884ffdca07d15bd7b4d0e5403cf931d357178ba6628eae8669461f06051f4e77.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/bde5ee7c54fa5bf178bfbbc72b7f35c4d363a74d008bd3dd66fe12a430c997e9.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine So true lol npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Sweet thanks npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Now you if I can just figure out how to live with Asian jumping worms… npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Some stitches and I’m sure you’ll be good. I usually get mine in June. I use only wood for heat and run through about 3 cords for the winter mainly because we have a small cabin and it’s super insulated. We built it with mostly discounted and cull lumber so our north wall was made out of 2x10’s lol just because we had them and didn’t have to buy anything. We literally spend the winter with the loft window open 24/7 because it gets so hot in here. https://blossom.primal.net/bdeeca3ad431e234da1b268b51afa15d47b10ea4390638b86ce490cf51388c28.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine All you have to do is park a camper next to it and they will naturally go to the camper npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine If your app doesn’t have Dark Mode…you are dead to me npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Well hello Mr Lives Under My Wood Pile and Eats Mice. I liked the late summer honey, darker and more spicy npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine I hate it when people use that shit, nasty stuff. But ya when you build it, they will come, it’s like you create a whole new environment. I grow a lot of herbs and native flowers too npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Since we’ve made our garden here every year new and different creatures show up that I haven’t seen here before https://blossom.primal.net/20d7e1d9e9694e936be8fbc55272430b19c3291760f4256e267fd4e7662bfdfe.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine He kept coming back til it was gone too npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine There’s a lot to do up here. Baxter state park, Acadia National Park, lots of lobster, and great beaches in southern Maine like Ogunquit. Also just endless miles of logging roads with rivers and lakes to fish npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine One thing about living in the woods is that you don’t have any light pollution. This aurora is from last winter https://blossom.primal.net/3e5b47c77fea7ecc03a1b3eac9def5e1df160786a7302f4e74ea412266a04fa2.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine What!! I didn’t know that was a thing. Welp I’ll have to look into that 👍 npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine I had left some leftover honey and maple syrup out for the bees but apparently Mr squirrel here has a sweet tooth. Funny thing is I think the maple syrup was a little fermented, maybe that’s why he likes it so much https://blossom.primal.net/837cd74e2c3d9934e267e202889ab7475b071d73fe80302b252c979b050dd0e0.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/3a3578c5d065c3c7d584b17b707f8efe6972cd828ffa5544747b088d20d759ce.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Likewise npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Mostly 70’s and 80’s with a few heat waves in the 90’s. Not bad but it does get really humid. npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Fire weed is one of my favorite wild flowers up here. The flowers keep popping til they reach the top and that tells you winter is right around the corner https://blossom.primal.net/910c6e8704d329acecad54df0c4dee4d5a1ccf65d43fa50eb4ca74c8558ed0fe.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine I should pay more attention to my compost pile but it seems I always forget and it dries right out, Doh! npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine It’s a beautiful little spot npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine I just harvested my garlic the other day, 72 bulbs, which is enough for us. I’ll take 72 of the cloves off the bulbs and plant them in late October after the first frost for next year. I use a lot of it as my cold and flu remedy. Cut up into chunks along with ginger, cover with raw honey and shake it once in a while. If I get sick I’ll start eating the chunks of garlic and ginger. It’s my go to and it works. The honey will darken with time but it never goes bad just gets better. I also make elderberry syrup for the same reason. https://blossom.primal.net/ded3802fc3d4e0efb4afceba09a8d66a134756565c22e503503c1b6a569136d1.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/496cb120860b3aa61056e5fec92ed9b7ae5b290f6415861dd3633170a7d9ec48.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/2dd5b1eeb45b395f8879595b3fde8a15a171dc8450e52db111263d022436f1fc.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/b71eef8f958e620367eb2c933584edc0a03b86535bd8e5daa6d0f3bca0091eb5.jpg https://blossom.primal.net/ede04cfcfed75d2be2c82aa0b2f8bddb20d55416b904fb68f41a80112863a0fd.jpg npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine Yup that’s it, kind of buys you some time to get things set up and hopefully eventually we get there npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine I think unless you have acres of field and enough room for livestock you’re doomed to be some part of the system. I don’t have that so I try to buy from other local farmers instead of the supermarket npub16hkcxkwvndm6tkh9dmxypfalxm64czrxr0qrn256nrpmzjsda4rs9jgwdj somewhereinmaine So a few years ago when we first got our composting toilet I really did use it, I just kept using the outhouse. Well fall turned into winter and it got colder and colder and using the outhouse became a challenge to me. Challenge accepted, I wanted to see how cold I could stand it out there. That winter the coldest morning I dropped anchor was -29 degrees Fahrenheit or 29 below zero. No pipes were frozen and it really wasn’t that bad. After that the outhouse kind of became storage and I don’t think I could find the seat now if I wanted to. https://blossom.primal.net/8c4c702a256bfda230ce5dd945d257a13301e1b7deda77d139c7d6598b00d6fd.jpg
