Earlier this week we made an appointment at the vet. Papel currently weighed just around 2 kilos. At the vet, blood is taken to test for feline leukemia and FIV. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that occurs in cats and attacks the body's immune cells. This reduces the cat's general defenses. The FIV virus is related to the HIV virus in humans that causes AIDS. That is why FIV is sometimes also called cat AIDS. FIV can only make cats sick and not humans. Unfortunately, Papel tested positive for FIV. His immune system is already severely affected and this has caused him to be underweight and have bad teeth, among other things. His teeth therefore also have to be removed during an operation. Before the operation, this does mean that his immune system has to become stronger and he has to gain weight. Otherwise he would not survive the operation. The positive thing is that Papel eats and drinks and is also reasonably active. He has been given an injection for his immune system and several medications. We hope this works well and he can handle the operation. Next week another check at the vet.

Two and a half weeks ago we found this cat neglected and injured on the side of the road. We took him with us and want to take care of him. After a check at the vet he appears to be seriously ill and his immune system is broken. In addition, an operation is coming up and he needs monthly medication. We will cover these costs ourselves.

Sometimes it gives me stress. After having a great relationship and living in a house, a house didn't feel like home to me. I love nature and adventure. That's when I decided to live in my camper 🚒 with my dog 🐶 and leave for Portugal this winter. I have no plan and don't know what the future holds. No idea yet how I'm going to earn money 💶 or where I'm going to live next year. I like not having a plan, but it also gives me stress.
