If you install #Nextcloud on your linux server, you can do in-browser WYSIWYG editing from any client platform, and it looks like some of your editors don't support all the Markdown features that Nextcloud does. And your files and notes will be synced across all devices.
Nextcloud is a much better option than caving to non-FOSS products and platforms!

It wasn't necessary to make this a poll; it's not a matter of opinion.
My suggestion is to use "sshfs" to mount a drive in computer A onto computer B, so it can be viewed and manipulated however the user wants over the network. That includes commandline tools, GUI file managers, `file://` URLs in web browsers, remote management tools like ansible or cockpit, etc. All work just fine when drives are remotely mounted with sshfs.

I would recommend running #Nextcloud for your own no-big-tech-required calendar/contact/file-organization-and-synchronization self-hosted server. Once you've gone to the effort of setting it up for your own personal use cases, then adding on use cases like this one becomes almost trivial. I'll look forward to trying the Android app onve it's made available on the F-Droid FOSS app store. Until then, reliance on Google's distribution and curation means it's not suitable for use by those who value security and independence.

#Nextcloud 25 is already obsoleted and unsupported. Look, you can see where it was released a long time ago, at https://github.com/nextcloud/server/releases/tag/v25.0.0 .
At this point, it isn't just a good suggestion not to reuse already-obsolete version numbers for new versions of Nextcloud software. This is such an egregiously-stupid idea that your whole community believes you should fire, block, and ban the person who made the decision to do this. They're actively attempting to destroy your product from within.

More good news: as the dependency stack gets deeper, most of them *can* be fulfilled within the OS's package management and security oversight mechanisms. For example, coturn, NATS, and Janus are all in Debian proper. No need to use Nextcloud's "freemium" product, and now we can see that the "warning" about needing the high-performance backend is just a sneaky advertisement for their subscription product.
Bummer. I'd thought @npub1rk6…hv4q was better than that.

no, that's false. Non-PHP apps can be distributed in .zip files with the app, just like the current app includes both PHP and Javascript files.
And it needs to be distributed in such a way it can use the host's OS libraries if the user desires, not forcing the admin to use containers with libraries less-well-maintained than the host OS.
Do you have any reason why the high-performance backend should not be part of the app itself that is factually true, or are all your objections wrong?

Yes we can see that the high-performance backend is not integrated in the Talk app, and that's totally the problem. Everything needed to use the app *should* be included when you install the app. It should not need additional containers whose libraries etc. are not as well-maintained as the host OS's (like if we're running Nextcloud on Debian or Enterprise Linux). Question is, when will this be fixed?
