Joke aside, in the Wayland era, the D.E. controls the color management and the tablet handling. (before on X11, we had CLI tools for that, that could work on all distro, not anymore). That's why now the choice of D.E. and its version is far more important than the choice of distro, imo.
The 26.04LTS has a descent Plasma version. Maybe a sweat LTS ecosystem once Snap removed (2/2)

My blog is back! I went into the logs to see the RSS code was the main culprit: huge and with 14K RSS bots hitting it over the last 10h.
So, I simplified the RSS because, meh: I was sending the full content of the article with 10MB of pictures and the code was dynamically converting the markdown to html, then html to special char, *each time* 🫠 hm hm, no wonder...
Now the website is back and up to speed, and the article received over 60K visitors, thank you!

It is printed in French since ten years now, search for "Pepper et Carrot, edition Glénat". But they never did the Artbook.
About the "Episode 39: The tavern", no, it's not the last episode, I'm continuing, surely but slowly. It's frustrating because I spent the past month on many Yak Shaving (operating system, Krita release and videos, improving MiniFantasyTheater, etc... ).
I'm right now at the Layout step of the episode 40. I'll try to make a post on the blog about it!

Thank you for taking them! 💜 He he, same, I even didn't notice it until I received a DM of the publisher who really felt super bad about it; he told me he sent a general message to the Kickstarter and felt he ruined the batch by this mistake that went under their radar.
I told him and to the graphist to not worry and blame themselves that hard, I find it fun and "collector" too and haven't even noticed it at first. 😅 Really a minor typo, and a fun "made in Italy" souvenir.

This episode was totally screen-recorded and I had no issues with OBS+Wayland+Plasma+Krita. The full process was also commented (audio recording) and it's from A to Z: from scratch to posting. The scenario in Kate, to the panel making, text, everything fully in Krita 5.3 with the new text tool and comic panel tool.
Now I have over 20 hours of video editing to do in Kdenlive; many sequence will be accelerated as time-lapse. ETA of this big tutorial bonus: maybe start of june.

The comic I posted today is the first one that I have created from A to Z under a Wayland session (KDE Neon User Edition, Plasma 6.6.4, Krita 6.0.1), and that after 17 years under X11.
A big thanks to:
- the Wayland team for improving the color management
- KDE Display/Input team for the tablet and ICC support
- Krita team for a better experience on Wayland.

Ha non, j'avais oublié.
Du coup, je viens de voir qu'il y avait pour 20/30€ des petits refroidisseurs de RAM, comme deux petits ventilos qui se clip sur le dessus, alimenté par une prise classique de PSU. Je vais prendre ça, c'est sage pour mettre toute les chances de mon côté et prolonger leur vie à cette proximité du CPU.

Oui, clairement. Ça m'a coûté 30€, car j'ai du envoyé une petite boite aux Pays-Bas avec suivi. La procédure est assez flou, pas mal de vérifications avec formulaire, un PDF avec code barre à imprimer et à joindre dans la boite retour, mais quelques emails rare mais rassurant de confirmation ici et là.

Remember my RAM issue from January? After months (warranty forms, posting back the 2x8GB modules to factory, and waiting), the brand finally honored their lifetime warranty and I received my new RAM this morning!

Unfortunately, for the self publishing books 100% made with FLOSS, that was the only company/solution I found long time ago, before that was so problematic (the Brexit put a lot of tax on the UK print pod). I might need to look for a EU print-on-demand solution soon.

I have artists who use that vertical (1×4 or more) in my TL, yes it has good pros you mentioned but also this cons:
Cons:
- limited to the width of a single long 'thumbnail' sized the column of TL on clients and not all og them have a policy for it (but Mastodon does)
- Scaling down image algorithm of the platform, good for graphical style, but not detailed art.
- On click, the "full preview" rescale to the entirety of the screen, making them impossible to read without zooming.

Inkscape, because I'm maintaining right now 28744 Inkscape SVG files (translation of pages for Pepper&Carrot and Mini Fantasy Theater), and refactoring all of that to change workflow is impossible right now. Also because hosting on Git the SVG is really flexible and lightweight compare to the Krita Kra files with multiple layers: SVGs are XML text, so it's possible to diff, and versioning control system works great for that type of file.

Yes, I wonder if I can just put the 4 panels unified twice on the html, and hide the one of the top on small screens, and on desktop inverse it: hide the one after the panel-a panel-b, etc... In general, I'm not fond of making a different content depending of the device, and "choose for the user".

Hey, the arrows navigation (and page up/down, spacebar) is already implemented.
I tried the mousewheel, but this 'breaks the webpage too much, and managing the mouse wheel sensitivity in Javascript is a can of worms I don't want to maintain for so many devices possibles emulating a mouse scroll.
But Maybe I'll consider a fixed button (position fixed css, sticky on screen) to go up and down.

This is the original soundtrack I was listening while doing the character design. I also tried a lot to make a reference to Parn on the design and color palette, just a younger and 'goofier' version.

Oh yes, but lets push the dream even further: JXL for the raster part but embed inside a SVG, so the texts are also possible to be selected and read out-loud the by machine, and a description of the panel also float under it for accessibility. 😺

Hey, I keep posting all manually, just because I don't like really using script for my social interactions, but I pretty automated all the "split in four pictures" with Imagemagick and bash; I have the four output pictures with no effort now. The longer part is just to copy/paste the four part of my transcript for the alt text. It's a couple minute longer to do, but in comparison to the 16 hours this comic strip took me to paint, it's insignifiant.
I would say the effort are the same.

Yes, no problem, and unfortunately, it's hard to color balance slightly on the golden yellow now for artists as ChatGPT genAI picture associated that with the infamous "yellow piss AI filter".
But here I needed this type of golden light ( for the theme, golden scarab dice, golden light ) and the contrast for the end panel.

Thank you. Yes, that's correct, and thank you for noticing this example. Panel reading has a flow, that are more like curves; and in a 1 picture 2x2 grid I can play with it a lot. While in 4 pictures, the eye is reset to the top left and follow the diagonal of reading Left to Right and immediately chase the speechbubbles and the faces. Something about composition and the comic format is lost.
I put that on my list. I'm collecting data, I'll blog about my results soon.

Thank you for the feedback, it must have been a challenge to understand the comic in reverse; you probably thought I was going very into a contemporary way of storytelling 😅
Probably 5 years ago or more, I posted a test about sorting of pictures; and it was totally random for many clients on Fediverse. I somehow assumed that in 2026 the order would be preserved across the Fediverse; but I see there is no warranty about this.

Oh yes, I had to sacrify the "Die" singular, too close for non native of the verb "to die" and confusing (Stop! a golden die!").
Dice singular is modern, and easier for international. Sorry to all die lovers.

Oh! :blobcatheart: Thank you for reporting this one before I "git commit" it to the repo.
Too much rewrite made me blind to this I guess. Yes, in a previous version he asked in this panel "and what's happen if we roll a twenty?" and then the Pink-fairy was giving the peasant/lord line, but then the room in the panel while drawing was missing so I refactored it.

I already automatized the picture split with imagemagick at the renderfarm level ( https://www.peppercarrot.com/0_sources/miniFantasyTheater/low-res/panels/ ) so I have picture a, b, c, d now for free. The only additional work is to copy paste my transcript into four pictures, and also take care of really inserting them into the right order.

Yes, or even just proposing a carousel mode: just the first panel visible with dots under that indicate their is pictures to flip. (or arrows and a count)

Good to know about Miskey; I had no idea the Mastodon UI was trimming the pictures count if above 4. That sounds bad, because if a comic artist on Miskey post a story in 6 panels and his client allows it on the Fediverse, it's a shame that Masto UI ruins the story and trim it...

Note: I'm testing something new: splitting the four panels and posting them as separate pictures.
Reasons:
- More resolution and details
- Easier to read, larger font size
- Mobile/small-screen friendly.
Should I keep this format for the future?

Good job: keeping old theme alive is a lot of work, but also very important.
Personal story: Linux Mint continues to ship their distro with very old themes. I could, thank to this, maintain this summer the computer of my (old) mother, a Linux-Mint from 2012 that semi-rolled update and upgrade until 2026 but too unstable because of all upgrade layers. I reinstalled a Mint from scratch, and could still put the same color, same directory icons, same start menu and sound, a joy for her.

Thank you for relaying the info and for taking care :blobcatheart: yes, we moved everything to https://framagit.org/peppercarrot when Microsoft acquired Github because it was obvious that the platform would only go downhill after that and evil. The old repo are still on it, but archived, with a message on the top that invite to the new repo for discoverability. I guess they were already trained anyway. I'll switch the option anyway, in case it can help also with the archived repo. Thank you!
