talking out of my rear, i have this idea that p2p projects are often from enthusiasts who figured out an interesting way to move data around that fits their particular circumstances/tooling, rather than people who write formal protocol specs for broader application (how i interpreted "off the street")

i could be wrong but i understand free our feeds is an independent org and not affiliated with bluesky.
might also want to contrast at protocol with activity pub regarding something like "social app development layer" versus "open protocol for social networking"

love these projects, in a way it's like alternative frontends nitter or bibliogram but over activitypub. i'd be curious to hear how you maintain access as there seems to be constan battles to prevent this sort of thing.

not really what i was going for, but i learned that @npub1gq5…qcul has a 'sign-in with mastodon' feature since 2023… i think it's to easily autofill details in a new account rather than maintain a single identity, not a migration either https://mastodon.social/@pixelfed/110727848627479712

if anyone here has watched my videos via the fediverse, i'm curious to understand the difference of experience between uploading directly to mastodon vs posting a youtube link. is native video better for any reason? i assume hosting is expensive so i try not to 'take up data' – do i have the wrong idea?
