America really sucks at being an authoritarian state. People trash Trump all day and are not hauled off to prison. Protesters get in the faces of armored federal agents and are not mowed down in the streets. No gulags for comedians, no late-night host purges, no Kent State-scale bloodletting in half a century. I dated a Greek girl and she took me to Orthodox Church and I love the fact that the priest faced with us towards the altar. I love the fact that in Greek Orthodox sin is missing the mark it's not a mark of going to hell. That sin is a disappointment not a deal killer for God and for Jesus. After decades riding DC, Portland, and Berlin as a messenger and commuter, I know exactly how fragile a cyclist really is: you’re a squishy human on a metal twig moving through a world of distracted drivers in multi-ton fortresses. Unless you ride with paranoid, practiced survival instincts, you’re doing a continuous series of trust falls with SUVs, delivery trucks, and every texting tourist in town.

Dude I blocked all the crazy pedophiles and weird Japanese manga and strange weird sex stuff and I blocked all those people I never block instances I only block people; however, there are people who are really racist, white supremacist, calling me all kinds of things even though I'm just a Hungarian Irish Catholic. Thinking I'm Jewish. Hating that about me. I mean there's just so much hate. I've actually gotten good at foiling it. I don't immediately block anymore.

For weeks I saw MSNOW promos and assumed they were some big Multiple Sclerosis awareness push or even a pharma spot. The name, the visuals, the tone—totally medical-ad vibes. Then Rachel Maddow appeared under the MSNOW banner and it finally clicked: it’s just MSNBC’s new rebrand. Until that moment I truly thought they were talking about MS research, not cable news.
