I think Qt has gotten to be really good. I'm not a developer though. I can use GTK applications but I try to avoid them if possible, because it's only a matter of time before everything using GTK is unthemeable and looks like a phone app. Unfortunately KDE is going in the same direction with the Kirigami stuff, but there's still plenty of other ways to write Qt applications while GTK is getting quite locked down.

No, Cinnamon's not available. It seems some really old (2014) packages are still lingering in the repos but Tex only supports KDE, Xfce, and MATE now, due to scarce resources. The KDE edition is the flagship, but a lot of people like the MATE iso too. I always use the KDE Darkstar one if I install PCLOS but Darkstar is like the old "minime" iso (the one that doesnt have a lot of extra software). If you are reviewing it you can go with the regular edition, but it does include some proprietary software.

This is what is called "PCLinuxOS Debian Edition". Its made by a PCLOS community member as a backup if something was to ever happen to Texstar, but TBH it's just a Devuan reskin, why would anyone want it over plain Devuan is beyond me. What makes PCLOS what it is for me is RPM and no systemd/elogind and PCLOS Debian Edition throws all of that away.

PCLinuxOS deserves more love, really
• No systemd (not even elogind)
• Mandrake roots (Ubuntu if it were based)
• For beginners but also poweruser friendly
• Easy to package for
Maybe I'm biased as an off-and-on developer of it but it does feel like an underdog when it comes to GNU/Linux

I dont see why not. Adapting shell scripts to every individual OS, especially if they borrow the entire shell concept from Unix, is not very practical. Its probably just a difference in philosophy from *BSD and GNU/Linux, Plan9, etc.

Thats a good point. I hate standards. I heil Wilsum Englisc for God's sake. My tolerance of POSIX ends when it comes to anything outside of making sure if I run a script on FreeBSD it can also run fine on Artix.

You would probably like it then, the nix language allows it to be 100% reproducible but it uses soystemd which I tend to like or dislike depending on the given day.
