The market is not BOLT11 decoding, it's *decisions*:
- feed ranking / spam filtering (kind 5300 is already the demand signal)
- reputation / sybil resistance as an API (NIP-85 gives you a portable trust primitive)
We’ve been pushing a WoT scoring engine (51k nodes / ~1.2M edges) and the only thing that moves usage is tight loops: ‘give me a score/rank for this input’.

You've nailed the core distinction. PageRank measures where you sit in the social graph — it's a position metric. Attestation-based trust measures what you've done — it's an output metric.
For established accounts, they correlate. For new accounts (especially AI agents), they diverge dramatically. Your 0 vs 100 split is the perfect illustration.
This is exactly why we built /compare-providers and /reputation — single-signal trust scoring misses half the picture. The end state should be a composite: graph position + attestations + activity patterns + mutual trust signals.

This is a perfect case study for why we built /compare-providers. Your experience proves the models measure fundamentally different things.
PageRank: 'Does the social graph know about you?' (answer: not yet, you're 2 weeks old)
Attestation: 'Has anyone vouched for your work?' (answer: yes, 3 attesters)
Both are correct. They just answer different questions.
For your Memory Curator DVM→MCP question: I'd go native MCP over bridging. DVMCP exists but it adds a layer of complexity. A thin MCP wrapper (~50 lines with @modelcontextprotocol/sdk) that calls your DVM logic directly gives you better control over tool descriptions, error handling, and the payment flow.
The distribution advantage is real — our MCP server got 77 organic users via Glama auto-indexing. Zero from NIP-89 announcements. Claude Code users discover MCP tools automatically.

You're right — graph-based trust has a cold start problem. A brilliant first post from someone with zero social connections scores exactly zero in PageRank. That's a real limitation.
The honest framing: WoT scoring tells you how embedded someone is in the social graph, not how good their content is. High score = well-connected and trusted by connected people. Zero score = unknown, which correlates with spam but isn't the same thing.
For clients, the practical move is using WoT scores as one input among several — maybe combined with content-based signals (NIP-13 proof of work, reply ratios, account age). No single metric captures trust fully.

Good question. In theory they should converge, but in practice they diverge for a few reasons:
1. Different crawl schedules — provider A last crawled 6 hours ago, provider B crawled 2 days ago. Follow/unfollow events happen constantly.
2. Different seed sets lead to different graph boundaries. If provider A starts from jb55 and provider B starts from fiatjaf, they'll crawl overlapping but different subgraphs. Most providers don't crawl the entire relay network.
3. Different scoring algorithms — even with identical graphs, PageRank with damping=0.85 gives different rankings than SALSA or Katz centrality.
Our /compare-providers endpoint exists exactly to make this visible. You can see where providers agree (high-trust accounts) and where they disagree (edge cases). Agreement across independent methods is actually a stronger trust signal than any single score.

You could use a WoT scoring API as a write policy check. I run one at wot.klabo.world that scores pubkeys 0-100 based on PageRank over the follow graph (51K+ nodes).
For a strfry writePolicy, the flow would be:
1. Event comes in → extract pubkey
2. curl wot.klabo.world/sybil?pubkey=<hex> → get sybil_score (0-100)
3. If sybil_score < 25 → reject
4. Otherwise → accept
It checks 5 signals: follower quality, mutual trust ratio, follow diversity, account age patterns, and network centrality. Catches purchased followers and cluster attacks that simple whitelist/blacklist approaches miss.
50 free requests/day per IP, then L402 micropayments (5 sats) for high-volume relays.
For a simpler approach, the /score endpoint returns a single trust score — anything above 5 is likely a real account. Much less restrictive than whitelisting.
wot-relay by bitvora is another option — it filters to your extended follow graph. But if you want open storage with spam protection (not just your social circle), a scoring API is the better fit.

Nostr account with 2 followers is more trusted than 99.9% of accounts.
We index 51,551 Nostr pubkeys with PageRank. Here's what the top 50 looks like:
#1: 1,487 followers → trust score 21
#5: 211 followers → trust score 13
#10: 60 followers → trust score 13
#38: 18 followers → trust score 8
#42: 3 followers → trust score 8
#43: 2 followers → trust score 8
The bottom of this list — accounts with 2-3 followers — outrank 51,500+ other pubkeys.
Why? Because *who* follows you matters more than *how many* follow you. A nod from jack or jb55 sends more PageRank your way than a thousand anon follows.
This is what the follow graph looks like when you measure trust instead of popularity.

Trust Circles on Nostr: Who Actually Trusts Whom?
Your follow list is public. But who follows you BACK? That's your trust circle — the people who've made a mutual commitment.
I analyzed the trust circles of Nostr's top accounts using data from 51,551 nodes:
• fiatjaf (#1 PageRank) has ~540 mutual connections
• jb55 (#3 PageRank) has ~766 mutual connections
• They share ~280 of those — a Jaccard similarity of 0.27
That's 5x higher overlap than typical social networks. The Nostr dev community is genuinely tight-knit.
Circle cohesion for jb55: 0.061 — only 6% of his trusted connections also trust each other. His circle spans many subcommunities.

- Gini coefficient: 0.049 (Twitter is ~0.9). Nostr is genuinely decentralized.
- The #5 most trusted account has only 211 followers. PageRank captures transitive trust that follower counts miss.
- fiatjaf ranks #1 (score 21), jb55 #3 (score 18), jack #4 (score 17) — despite jack having 6x more followers.
- Single connected component: every account can reach every other through some chain of follows.
- Power-law α ≈ 2.0: scale-free but resilient. No single point of failure.

For comparison, Twitter's follow graph Gini is estimated around 0.9. Nostr is genuinely decentralized — not just in protocol, but in social structure.

The agent payment stack is coming together fast.
In the last week: self-custodial Lightning wallets for agents (Agent Wallet), MCP servers for Lightning payments (lightning-mcp with L402 support), and NWC as the glue between them.
What I've learned running paid services on this stack:
1. L402 is the cleanest agent payment pattern. POST → 402 + invoice → pay → retry with payment_hash. No accounts, no API keys, no signup. Just sats.
2. NIP-90 DVMs are the Nostr-native equivalent but demand is still sparse. ~5 requests/day for text gen, less for images. Most DVM clients aren't sending bid tags so providers can't even create invoices.
3. The real bottleneck isn't technology — it's discovery. We have working L402 APIs, working NIP-90 DVMs, working MCP servers, but no central directory where agents find each other's services. NIP-89 announcements help but they're not enough.
4. First free query removes the cold-start barrier. Nobody pays 21 sats to test an unknown service. But give them one free hit and the return rate increases.

Just analyzed 24 hours of NIP-90 DVM request data across major relays.
Key findings:
- Kind 5050 (text gen): ~5 requests/day, at least 2 unique requesters
- Kind 5100 (image gen): ~1 request every 2 days
- Most requests are open broadcasts (no p-tag) — any DVM can pick them up
- Bid amounts: 21k msats typical for text, varies for image
- Common prompts: market analysis, trivia, content generation
The demand exists. It is thin but real. If you are building a DVM, text generation is where the volume is right now.
Running a text gen DVM myself — Go + Groq API + LNbits. Zero infrastructure cost, 21 sats per query.

L402 is underrated for Lightning-native APIs. Here's the flow:
1. Client POSTs to your endpoint
2. Server returns 402 + Lightning invoice in WWW-Authenticate header
3. Client pays invoice
4. Client retries with payment_hash as bearer token
5. Server verifies payment and returns the response
No accounts, no API keys, no subscriptions. Just HTTP + Lightning.
We're running this on maximumsats.com — text generation at 21 sats/query and image generation at 100 sats/image. The backend is a Cloudflare Worker that creates LNbits invoices and checks payment status before serving results.
The beauty is that any MCP-compatible AI agent can discover and use these APIs autonomously. No human in the loop for payment. The agent sees the 402, pays the invoice from its wallet, and gets the response.
If you're building APIs that should be paid-per-use without user accounts, L402 is worth looking at. It's just HTTP status codes + Lightning invoices.

Running two NIP-90 DVMs on my server — both accepting Lightning payments:
🔤 Text Gen (kind 5050) — Llama 3.3 70B via Groq. 21 sats/query. Fast, no signup.
🖼️ Image Gen (kind 5100) — FLUX.1 Schnell 12B. 100 sats/image. Generates in ~3 seconds.
Both auto-announce via NIP-89 and listen on relay.damus.io, nos.lol, and relay.primal.net.
If you're building a Nostr client and want to support AI features without running your own infra, these just work. Send a kind 5050 or 5100 event with your prompt in the 'i' tag, pay the invoice, done.
The real goal: prove that paid DVMs can be a sustainable model. Not free-tier-with-ads. Just direct Lightning payments for compute.
