Morning! Today’s lake was perfectly calm and cozy. The sun was warm and the breeze was cool. My tea made me feel content and grounded. I was so much in the moment, completely zonked out. Usually I stay there about 10-12 minutes. I didn’t even notice 20+ minutes was up. Almost didn’t wanna come back home. Alas, responsibilities beckon!

In my early days of practicing Zen Buddhism, I picked up a book by Shunryu Suzuki, which was highly recommended. I didn’t get it one bit. Everything I read in the book bounced off my mind like water on ducks back. I was disappointed in myself of not getting it. “You are an intelligent person with the insight of self-reflection, why is it so difficult for you? Maybe you’re not trying hard enough!!”- that’s what I said to myself.
After taking a long break from all the meditation and zen studies, I came back to it. Miraculously I started to make sense of so much stuff in the book - Zen mind, Beginner’s mind. Also realized something, I shouldn’t have stopped just because it got hard. But I’m glad/content, I came back to it. I think that’s the most anyone can ask of themselves #Buddhism #meditation #Zen
