Thank you for trying to assist. I ended up following Umbrels directions and reflashing a new microSD with the Umbrel download and I was able to get the node up and running. It looks like I may still have my small amount of sats on the bitcoin lightning wallet which I think I can access once the bitcoin node is done synchronizing. Thank you again for trying!

I had closed my lightening channels a while back as no one was routing any transactions over my channels. I left the BTC in the on chain bitcoin wallet hoping to give lightning another try at some point. The node sat running and I didn’t think anything of it until recently and that’s when I discovered I couldn’t get into the node via Umbrel and then tried seed phrase. Would Umbrel be able to assist or do I consider this a donation to the cause?

I tried doing an update and got stuck. After a day or so of waiting for migration / update it appeared it was not working.
I’m not sure how to fix this.
I gave up and tried recovering wallet from seedphrase. Seemed to be basically nothing in there 🥴

Any miners willing to help me out?
Idk if it’s as simple as a firmware update (which seems to be failing) but my antminor stopped hashing early Monday morning and I can’t figure out why.
Am I stuck trying to get in touch with Bitmain or are there some good troubleshooting websites or videos that have helped others?

Well at a minimum I sparked some conversation about this topic. I am entrenched in the fiat system as an accountant, but believe in bitcoin and feel strongly about bitcoin. Can’t you do both? IRA and self custody the majority. Save some tax now and use a reputable custodian for the IRA. I understand there is 3rd party risk. I haven’t found anything I’m comfortable with, hence the question, but I also like to do some tax planning and have multiple buckets just in case I can retire some day.
