I read the fiat standard and was so disappointed. Just a big rant, oversimplifying the world. And lots and lots of repetition. Didn’t like it. Even though there is lots of truth in there, a more differentiated view would have been a more insightful read.

I think the setting, the overall clear language and the examples make it worth a read. Nothing completely new for me in there, but the clarity, and given that it was written 100 years ago but in a similar context, is worth a recommendation. I wonder if this would be a suitable book to raise awareness and ultimately orange pill people around me.

Started a speculative attack on fiat last week by borrowing fiat using my bitcoin as collateral on @npub1ruc…wjhl - both a 18 months and a 24 months loan at around 9 and 10% yearly interest (including fees).
Process was super smooth. Firefish did a great job making it simple and easy to follow. Fiat was in my account within hours after the collateral was confirmed (3 blocks). On a Saturday!

Imho routing nodes should have channels with at least 10M, better more sats.
Ideally, you have the same outbound liquidity like your inbound. As a routing node, you can also have a bit more inbound. Can help with the flow.
You can start with LNDg and their autofees and rebalancing. It works well enough if you position yourself high enough in the fee hierarchy (relatively low fees towards sinks). You want to use your sources (peers which you have <10ppm towards) to rebalance your sinks with.
Personally, I wouldn’t expose my BTC in a hotwallet for just a 1% yield though.

Just talked to a wealth manager at a German savings bank. He said around 10% of his clients are asking about Bitcoin, and those who do usually put 10–20% of their net worth into BTC. His take is that this is only the beginning. So yeah, I don’t really buy the whole bear market narrative.

Just today I had a discussion with some colleagues and I realized how big the knowledge gap is. And they are educated people who are interested in Bitcoin. Still, it takes some serious studying and also pre-knowledge to „get it“.
I think the majority of the people will never understand Bitcoin. Still at one point, everyone will use Bitcoin. Just because most people follow the masses.

I think most just see Bitcoin like any other investment. They don’t see the big picture. It takes lots of time and efforts to create this understanding. Most don’t have the time or are just not interested.

Volatility comes from speculation. Downtrends come from weak hands that do not understand Bitcoin (yet). I think rarely from plebs that need to buy essentials.
Less and less bitcoin on the exchanges. Less and less every month that are selling at all at these prices. Currently most of the bitcoin that are being acquired are bought from diamond hands like Strategy, states, etc. imho.
