Thursday is my Friday. Whew. Good Friday tomorrow feels totally odd. March went by really fast for me.
Not really celebrating anything, don't really follow it anymore.
I bought myself a guitar, it's arriving today. Pretty excited for that. It's one of those Donner acoustic silent guitars. It'll be nice to practice at any time of the day.

This year has been good so far.
A couple things out of the ordinary.
- Discovering #Nostr and its large ecosystem
- Learning about #OpenCode and other No Code solutions which are far more expensive
- More #creative endeavors, less bullshit in a world gone mad.
Other than that, nothing else has been world changing besides trying to get to the west coast of Canada.

hrm, #Nostria be zooming tonight. Faster than a britches wit.
Now that #Debian is installed, I am using JamesDSP for system-wide EQ and audio effects. My ears have never been happier in a long time. It seems to work well, with a low system impedance. The system hasn't gotten slower, no CPU issues. Impressed.

Debian 13 is such an upgrade especially for KDE. I loved Gnome2 from the beginning, couldn't stand Gnome3. Used Gnome Fallback or whatever for Gnome2 layout.
Still wasn't the same but I put up with it.
KDE is getting to be my favourite now that is full-featured.
I want to try other DE variants from other distros now that Debian is the newest version.

Fought a good fight with linux today. Trying to install Debian Trixie. I had Bookworm installed for a couple years. Finally took the plunge to reinstall for newstable.
Getting stupid errors. I realized what I did to get the errors. Tried to boot up into a live environment to fix my issue and the USB imploded on me.
So now I have no working laptop or install medium or USB drive.
Since my tablet is dead I'll recharge that overnight to see if I can fix the USB drive or buy a new one and create another boot medium to reinstall on my laptop.
Come to think about it, I didn't have an install medium to boot to last time and had to do the same thing with the tablet. Lmao
My initial issue was creating a luks2 setup on my partitions in a way that isn't supported with the partitioner. Instead, creating ext4 partitions to encrypt with luks2.
Another issue was that I created a /data mount point but you can't simply name one to
encrypt during the installation process. Making one post-installation is easier.
Tonight, I mostly fought myself over stupid semantics. I'm not sure why but I feel this is also partial to #enshittification.

Notifications just reloaded. I had an issue for a couple days somehow. They were okay on mobile.
The website on Desktop, however wasn't really working. I just reloaded and it worked.
Not push notifications. Just the notification tab on the side bar. They were blank, nothing there. I'm not sure about push notifications.
Works now I guess.

Browsing a video, seeing an introduction to a new social media platform that is built on old standards, and people trying to leverage it, makes me sad. At best, a web 2.0 standard and a fuck ton of effort.
With its newness, it's already deprecated.
We have things like Blockchain and NOSTR that give what people want. Including privacy, decentralization, and freedom including NIP protocols at its core built infrastructure as standardization.
NIPs break it down into key elements which makes it easier to manage in such an evolving world and makes me think that it's going to be here for a really long time.
Joining here, the continuous learning, seeing it expand into even more of a plethora of services -- it rocks! I still have so much to learn. Probably one of the best things I've joined in the last 10 years.
As a user, I just want to say thanks!

Good morning. Listening to Mark Lanegan while going to work. Planning another trip of a lifetime soon.

Buying into someone's past, which ultimately gave you no choice to be homeless in another country living in the streets of Hawaii to meeting a Buddhist monk and a hippie for a plan out of desperation in Ka'u.

Some songs I recorded and produced. These were done with VCV Rack and Harrison Mixbus.
Every sound was curated by in VCV Rack. The drums were very adventurous to record because I had to look up various tunings for each head, especially the snare. And tune frequencies to match the sound that was needed. To get the snare sound, I used a noise variant(red, white, black) which all have different frequencies and sounds.
The Jazz tune, I really concentrated on the bass or lower end spectrum of sound. At that time, I was really into listening to the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex - Life Begins Again album. A couple of the tunes, Billy Mohler's bass sound was the inspiration. Dirty, open, overdriven that almost sounds like it's being thrown out of a Fender Bassman.
Everything took hours to think up, process, and post process. Even if some of it is quite a mess, I love it. It's dark, sometimes congested, but I'm happy with the results.

Made a bunch of electronic tunes within the last 7 years or so. I'll add some here I guess. I just have to figure out some cover art. Probably something generated.
I mainly used VCV Rack dumped into Harrison Mixbus. You're able to record each channel to a track which keeps everything really pro sounding. A lot to learn if you're going to that level, of course.
I remember using #JACK as the backend between both. Used Windows, only because I wasn't really creating when I had a similar setup in Linux. I was always trying to optimize my system for audio. Windows just allowed me to get VST3 support, and it worke well.
Conditionally, I'd suggest Linux-only. But whatever works well for you. They both did. But I'm more of a Linux fan. Especially in #audio, and #community, #FOSS. I was very far away from the FOSS initiative dabbling with audio during that time.

Am I in the right mindset to be thinking of purchasing a Linux phone now? Isn't the enemy enshittifying Android? Or will be? Removing the ability to add other stores?
I should have started thinking about that a long time ago, but options are still pretty expensive. I'm not really into the $1k phone thing.
I think my favourite phone was my OnePlus 6T before the WebOS update or whatever. Everything was so good on it. Especially the camera. I had zero issues. Bought it renewed, and had no complaints at all.
It would be nice if Graphene could go on OnePlus phones. Midrange especially. OnePlus + Graphene sounds like a dream with similar or better spec than the 6T.

Forgot I bought Rye Bread a couple weeks ago. #Baking some Rye Bread before sleeping for the night.
A couple days ago I found out that you can use fruit water for making sourdough starters. The yeast from the fruit #fermentation makes it the easiest to prepare a fermented fruit water.
I'm not sure if frozen fruit would allow fruit water an energy exchange into yeast/fermentation.
I don't really know too much about fermentation, but I **do** know it's good for you. And Sourdough Rye sounds amazing right now. Hopefully that will be the option soon.

I think they both are combined. But you can set it up differently. Just set your feeds to show different things.
The standard is called nips.
In Nostria go to your feeds tab. The top right go into feed options. Continue to configure how you want them to show. There are all sorts of options.
Can even feed your tags through a feed. Super helpful.

When I suggest *non-soveignity*, I make an example as we're really trying to get that soverign out of that era. But a definition of a soverign era is also a marketed one.
How do you draw that line? And do marketers on the #Nostr network implement to contingency?

Made a nice vegetable soup this evening.
Fried onions, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, broccoli, carrots, green and yellow beans. I also added a cup of dried 5 bean and grain mix.
Veggie Boullion, smoked paprika, pepper, no salt veg spice, a couple cloves of garlic, sage, tomato paste.
Added boiled veg pasta when pasta and soup was finished cooking. Had to add boiled water to the mix. Turned out really good.
A Hawkins stove-top pressure cooker was used for high pressure.

I like the privacy aspect of #Nostr. The community is pretty wicked. I love how I can use a lot of different complimentary services with the data I contribute.
I pretty much stopped using everything else a while back. I tried to get banned from Twitter when Musk took over. But that didn't go exactly as planned.
I used a greasemonkey script to remove my public data on their network. There was a lot of I/O processes while deleting my things. Since they changed the API, there was no 3rd party services/apps to log into and use like past years. Since it went strictly paid API usage, for an absurd amount of money.

Today I was reminded today that my clock time on the stove was different than my computer. (thank fuck to npt servers) Realizing that I lost an hour due to DST change. Feeling the time difference at sunset really makes up for the time obfuscation.

Feeling enlightened that Nostria is giving me a great feed now. I had to configure feeds from public relays.
I have 4 or 5 public relays configured, in the "relay options" but they didn't really provide an updated feed for some reason. Maybe they are based on an algorithm?
But since I have configured a public facing feed like nos.lol to a channel in the client it feels a little more aggregated. Possibly a little too much. Maybe I'll do the same for another relay that is unpopular.
Hopefully I can somehow sort the raw feed dynamic into interests in another channel that have hastags.

Here are some #Nostr pictures I generated, manipulated, and edited.
The general idea was to generate text to image without writing anything. So I figured out how to get AI to write on an image, and manipulate with it. Sometimes suggesting the text to image to manipulate three areas.
It kept me up all night last night because I find this type of stuff fun and relaxing. It makes the time go slow for me when I am in that element. 🤙

Thank you. Looked into again. Fees are too much for me right now. Hell, a public-facing non-custodial wallet with Alby Hub sounds great, too.
But I think I'll have to wait to add more coins so it's at the recommended amount. I think self-hosting is my niche since it'd a nice way to gain a few fees via transactions from the node/liquidity. Not a fan of it being public facing, but I can live with it.
All of this looks pretty promising but I don't really like all the fees. But it's probably worth it.

From my previous blog post, converting BTC to Lightning was pretty simple. It is easy to overthink these processes.
I used Kraken to convert #Fiat currency to #BTC, then I used #Coinos to transfer the BTC from Kraken, Even though the Coinos website shows both Lightning and Bitcoin, I transfered Btcoin and it gave me Lightning in the wallet. I'm unsure if it still gives access to BTC, but I was excited when Lighting populated after the transactions.

How are Canadians Transitioning to LN?
I've been stuck on trying to figure out the best way to convert CAD to LN to get my Sats in.
From a locale perspective, for the first time looking into trading fiat currency to LN, it's been a difficult adventure.
I spent all night looking into a few different exchanges. Like Kraken, for example: Monero can't be bought with my tender in my locale. But I am able to buy BTC and trade to XMR on ORANGE FREN.
Do I convert from my Fiat currency to BTC on one exchange, then use another to convert BTC to XMR, then from XMR to LN?
Or should I look into a Canadian broker? Right now, I'm not really dealing with a large amount of currency for exchange. I just want some LN the safest way possible. Or hell, even the easiest way possible.
I looked into Kraken, Orang Fren, and Eigen.

Is there such thing as a non-soverign type of exchange? Thinking of on-ramping some Fiat since I don't have any lightning/btc.
Less info the better, but also trusting that I'm able to get fiat exchanged.
If not, is coinbase a good solution?

Interesting how relays can be so configurable allowing for an array of options. From viewing to paywalls, to to quality feedback incentives, and other various groups.

https://www.relays.land gives few options that are available. I'm sure there are others.

What's a secure way to get a QR Code for your keys? OpenOffice? Is there a trusted authenticator service that allows QR Code distribution? By that, as an example, apps like Snort ask for a QR Code to sign in. Or at least one way.
Am I overthinking this?

Through hours of browsing and having discussions about Nostr on the web these last couple days, these are my favourite services so far:
https://coinos.io/ -- I love the simplicity of this wallet. It doesn't ask for anything upon sign-up, an it works very well.
https://nosta.me/ -- It's like a "Beacons" Web App which gives you all the necessary information about your resources in front of you. Nosta has been extremely helpful for me. I would use a service to try to configure the things I configure on Nosta, and they would mainly give me hell by not changing, or not staying enabled. Nosta is so much better than those "Beacons" apps.
https://habla.news/ -- A longform blog-centric use case. I like the feeling of it because unlike Medium, it doesn't ask for Stripe, and with that, the underlayment is totally different because it doesn't want you to be a "commercial" entity if you want to receive any sort of profit(lightning). Fuck all that.
https://jumble.social/ -- A great micro-blogging, #shortform platform. It reminds me of older iterations of similar things. Not the Blue Bird, and definitely not the whale or the butterfly! We got the #nostrich, baby.
Nos2x -- https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/nos2x/kpgefcfmnafjgpblomihpgmejjdanjjp -- A no frills signer that works very well. The original. At first I used Flamingo in #UnGoogledChromium but learned that it was deprecated. I wanted to see what its successor was. I am still pondering, but nos2x is very smooth for what it does.
https://nostirc.com/ -- It is Internet Relay Chat on a Nostr instance. You are verified by your key, and has been a smooth ride so far. Join #introductions on #Nostirc. It will work with your favourite IRC Client as well. The people are rad.
https://stacker.news/ -- Pretty new to this platform, but it is like #reddit but totally different. It looks be be heavily lightning-centric. I can't wait to dive in more.

I didn't receive my sats. Kinda weird. I wonder if my wallet is set up proper.

Yeah, it is pretty nice. I never really explored any other instances except one. It was pretty nice. But not too active. I like it, but I think I like Nostr better.
Just the decentralization, and other services that are available. I love how it is built up on different relays. There's kind of a valuation of content that isn't ad-supported. I think it's a more valuable system than the others. And it's relatively new, being actively developed.

Having an issue posting from primal.net with my browser. I'm using a modified Ungoogle Chromium that shouldn't have issues. Either the post button is greyed out or if I post, it doesn't show.

I went to a punk talks reception Friday night. Journalist and author Liz Worth hosted it at the Gabba Gool. A private club with #DIY punk ethos.

I went from trying to get banned from Twitter deleting the enshitification by removing my posts with a script ... to not using Mastodon much at all ... from signing up to #nostr.
