Lots to unpack here but on Christ's Church being invisible, I'd obviously disagree. The advent of Christ is physical/material as is His baptism, transfiguration, miracles, passion, etc. His Church is no different as it marries, or is symbolic of Heaven and Earth meeting.
I don't disagree with corruption in the Church, it has always been the case and will continue to be an issue, after all, we've been in the end times since the Incarnation.

An excerpt from a recent article I read on substack by a fellow named Joshua.
"Addiction is proof that humans are capable of deep devotion — they just submit it to false gods."
Most people hear this as a clever observation. But for those who have sat with the Holy Fathers, it lands differently — as a precise theological diagnosis. And one that comes, praise be to God, with a cure.
You Were Built for This
Orthodox theology teaches that humans are not a machine prone to random errors. You were fashioned with intention, with love — for union with God Himself. The Fathers call this theosis: the progressive transformation of the human person into the likeness of Christ, not by ceasing to be human, but by becoming fully what humanity was created to be.
At the center of this transformation is the kardia — the heart. Not the sentimental organ of Western romanticism, but the deepest seat of the person, where intellect, will, and love converge. This heart loves. This heart worships. This heart yearns.
And here is the critical insight of the Orthodox tradition: that yearning cannot be switched off. It was placed there by God. It can only be aimed.
The Passions
Orthodox theology has a precise word for what happens when desire is misdirected: the pathe — the passions. Not emotions in the modern sense, but God-given drives that have become disordered through the fall. Gluttony is hunger for the infinite, fixed upon food. Lust is eros aimed at the flesh. Greed is the longing for permanence, aimed at wealth.
Addiction, in this framework, is not a character flaw. It is not weakness. It is the spectacle of a soul built for God burning with the same intensity as the greatest saints — attaching that burning to something finite. The intensity is never the problem. Only the object is wrong.

Jonathan Pageau recently on X (I'm not over there, but this was sent to me).
Following a bit of the Protestant polemics against Orthodoxy recently, and I realize just how difficult it is to communicate the mind of the Church across these lines.
A simple example is seeing people confused about whether someone who is not baptised and participating in Orthodox communion can be "saved". Protestant are noticing that there are different answers in their estimation, and so are confused about them. The confusion comes from the belief that being "saved" or not is about "where you go after you die", when for the Orthodox "saved" means being made whole, being healed, being restored to the original purpose God had for us.
For this reason, when Protestants see declarations of how communion in the body of Christ is the only way to salvation, they immediately think this is a declaration that all the non-Orthodox are going to hell after they die. When Protestants then hear the very same person who just told them that salvation is in full participation to the body of Christ go on to intimate we have nothing to say about the eschatological finality of any specific soul, it is like a short circuit that many Protestants cannot compute. This is what I could see when

and

were discussing and it is what I have seen in
@gavinortlund
's videos.
In a similar vein, when a Protestant says he has the "assurance of his own personal salvation", this is confusing to the Orthodox. Orthodox also obviously have assurance of salvation, that assurance is Christ. He shows us what it means to be made whole and makes us participate in that wholeness. But how can I say that I am "saved" if I see that I am still a wretch, still prideful and arrogant and sinful? So the Orthodox, knowing they are are still sinning, though also knowing Christ has made them grow in the virtues will say something like: "I know that I am being saved." That is I can see that I am being healed, being made whole, being reformed to the resemblence of God. But again, this completely confuses the Protestant who just wants to know what will happen when you die. What side of the fence will you end up on?
I am not sure how to get accross these lines, and I feel that unless we can, we will perpetually be talking past each other.

The cosmology of Maximus is for a large part expressed in his theory of logoi, [5] the notion of logos in general occupies in his thought a fundamental place and there receives a devleopment which knows no equivalent in the Greek Fathers.
For Maximus, the logos of a being is its principle or its essential reason, that which defines it fundamentally, but also its finality, that in view of which it is, in brief its raison d’être in the double sense of the principle and end of its being. Because this principle and this end are in God, the word logos has before all for Maximus a spiritual meaning and is not reduced to the “natural logos” as it was understood by Aristotle.
This here is the principal definition of the notion of logos, but one must know that for Maximus, all the characteristics of beings, both particular and common to some of them according to species or genus come equally from the logoi, and that these logoi equally govern the relations of beings with each other, and, in a general manner, assure the order and cohesion of the universe both in its movement and in that which is stable.
The supreme unity of the logoi is realised in and by the Logos, the Word of God himself which is the principle and the end of all the logoi. The logoi of all beings have in effect been determined together by God in the divine Logos, the Word of God, before the ages, and therefore before these beings were created; it is in him that they contained before the centures and subsist invariably, and it is by them that all things, before they even came into existence, are known by God. Thus every being, according to its own logos, exists in potential in God before the centuries. But it does not exist in act, according to this same logos, except at the time that God, in his wisdom, has judged it opportune to create it. Once created according to its logos, it is according to this same logos again that God, in his providence, conserves it, actualises its potentialities and directs it toward its end in taking care of it, and in the same way by his judgment he assures the maintenance of its difference, which distinguishes it from all other beings.
The logoi of all beings, in being in God and near him, are not God. Not only Maximus underlines the radical transcendence of the Logos in their regard, but he affirms that they were themselves posited as a foundation (ὑφεστῶτας) by him. Otherwise said, they are not manifestations of the divine essence. They are no longer divine Ideas in the Platonic sense of the term. Maximus, following Pseudo-Dionysius, calls them divine “volitions (θελήματα),” [6] which signifies above all that they are in beings the inscription of the divine will or intention with regard to each and that they render manifest this divine design in creation. In thus denominating them and in linking their origin to the “good will” of God, Maximus links them clearly to his economy, in fact a work of his will, and is thus clearly separated from a neoplatonic conception which would make them emanations (or necessary productions) of the divine essence, which would be in fact connatural to God. [7]

Saint John of Kronstadt was fiercely against pacifism.
He was once offered an honorary seat on the Council of the University of Dorpat, of which Tolstoy was also member. He responded:
“[I decline] the degrading honor of being placed on the same footing as that Godless man, Count Leo Tolstoy, the worst heretic of our evil days, and surpassing in intellectual pride all former heretics. Saint John of Kronstadt was also a supporter of the Union of Russian Peoples (URP), the largest group within the Black Hundreds. "Canonization is the work of bishops, who give the Church's final and official seal to the local veneration of a holy man. What the [Boston] monastery did was to write (or perhaps translate from the work of one of the Greek Old Calendarist monasteries which openly call Vladika John a saint) a Vesper service to Vladika John (we have a copy, and it is quite good), which is normal practice and was done by the Russians for St. John of Kronstadt and Blessed Xenia many years before their canonization. These services to uncanonized saints are served privately (by an individual or by a monastery) until the bishops give permission for the whole Church to do so publicly. The prayers of any deceased holy man may certainly be asked privately, and in some cases a saint's sanctity is so apparent that he is prayed to more or less publicly long before he is canonized...
However, it's obvious that such veneration shouldn't be 'pushed' but should be allowed to grow and express itself naturally until it finally ripens into the day of canonization. We haven't sensed that anyone is 'pushing' Vladika John. If Vladika is really 'fashionable' now, it won't last long, and we rather believe that those who truly revere Vladika John deeply must be prepared to suffer for it in future."

Before Eve received her name "Eve", she was "woman". She received the name Eve after the expulsion from paradise in which she gives birth to a son. Eve/Eva can be understood as "mother of all the living" /"source of life".
The Theotokos is the new "Eve".
She is referred to as both woman and mother by Christ. She is called woman AND mother by Jesus at the cross in St. John's Gospel... Or better said, given a new title by Christ (behold your mother) just as Eve is given a new name in Genesis. If you understand the cross of Christ as the beginning of a new creation then this should really start to make sense-that the Theotokos, who gave birth to the God-Man, is now the mother of all the faithful
If you are familiar with St. John's Gospel then it will come as no surprise as to how often he works in the book of Genesis. His prologue to his gospel is direct wordplay with the Genesis account and is my favorite piece of scripture.
A second interesting point regarding the passion narratives: In St. Mark and St. Matthew's gospels we have the disciples referencing Christ's prayer of Psalm 22, "My God My God why have you forsaken me..." But St John quotes a different verse in the psalm (casting lots for Jesus' garments) as if to help the reader understand that the entire Psalm is being referenced here, not just the first Line. It would do everyone well to read the ENTIRE psalm, hard to justify the idea of penal substitutionary atonement after reading it.
Interesting too that people near the cross assume Jesus is calling out to Elijah for help, of course this wouldn't be strange as 2nd temple Judaism understood intercessory prayers to be a normal part of religious life.

TUESDAY (OF HOLY WEEK)
Now the people, the priests, and the Jewish rulers hear the Lord’s word in the temple for the last time. And His word was all-encompassing: it embraced everything—past, present, and future.
By the question about John, the Lord indicates that He is the true Messiah; by the parable of the two sons, He shows that the Jews will be rejected and that the Gentiles will be called in their place; by the parable of the vineyard workers, He declares that destruction awaits those who are rejected; by the parable of the king’s son’s wedding, He teaches that not all who come to Him will be worthy, and therefore will justly be cast into outer darkness.
Through His answers about the tribute to Caesar and about the greatest commandment, as well as through His words of rebuke, He sets forth the defining characteristics of the life that leads to salvation. Finally, by foretelling the calamities that will befall Jerusalem, He reveals to His disciples the mystery of His Second Coming.
It would be enough simply to hear all this with attention to become convinced that He is the true Savior of the world—Christ—and to submit to His commandments and teaching.
Even to this day, the reading of the Gospel chapters concerning all that took place on this day is a most powerful means of enlivening faith in the Lord. Through them, the Christian, coming to true understanding, can kindle zeal and show that he believes in the Lord not only in word, but also in deed.

The Greek fathers differed from Augustine in some important theological ares (sin, grace, salvation), and some of the difference can be attributed to linguistics/language barrier.
This is not to say St. Augustine is wrong. He was dealing with pelagianism so its understandable as to why he wrote the way he did in dealing with those topics I listed above.

St. Augustine admits a few times throughout his theological writings that he understood very little Greek. This is important to note as his theology, particularly that of original sin, is heavily relied upon in the West.
With that said, St. Augustine is undoubtedly a GREAT father of the Church and the humility he exudes in his book "Confessions" is nothing short of saintly.
