I mean. Be real! Voting is low risk. Your employer is even federally required to allow you time to do it but so many people can't be arsed. You think that somehow, millions of people will just suddenly one day decide to grab guns and they'll somehow spontaneously self-organize? "We'll just do a violence." is such a naive view. My parents were prepper nutbags. I had to do hard wilderness survival exercises. People have no idea how hard that is. You can die from a papercut.

Come on now. He didn't JUST sell missiles to Iran. Yeah. I know how you feel but at the same time, shaming isn't a good tool for reaching people and helping them grow. Tends to re-enforce negative behaviors instead. Lest I become too much a purity troll myself, I try to lay my shaming of them aside so that I might focus on reaching them. It's just hard. I'd like to not be political too. If they could just see we are all the same light and let go of preconceptions, the right would not exist. It is made of fear.

Though Clinton's sexual exploits disgust me, the whole 'getting revenge for Nixon' vibe of the right was pretty sad. What really pisses me off is that these people aren't even poor. You watch the video of the Jan 6th idiots getting arrested. Every one of them has a 3 bedroom house, two trucks, etc.
I grew up like that. Believing we were poor oppressed christians. Then I came out as trans, got disowned by my family and got a first-hand taste of poverty. Even then, I had privilege. Years of stable home, an education, marketable skills, and an able body.

Oh absolutely. There was never even any question that Trump was far worse for Palestinians, muslims, and arab Americans (not to mention most everyone else who isn't a braindead racist religious zealot who enjoys eating out of Trump's ass) And I agree that most of those 'save palestine' accounts were probably false flags. I grilled a few and most didn't seem to have any depth on the subject or know anything about Trump's policies and words last time around.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely share your frustration. But my novice layperson's understanding of psychology (take that for what it's worth) says shaming tends to make people more likely to cling to behaviors than outgrow them.
Obviously that's flawed, simply saying 'bad nazi' to racists isn't likely to work but I would hope people who at least good intent towards community ought be able to learn to be more patient.

Frustrating as their shortsightness is, belittling them probably doesn't help a lot.
I mean I get where they're at. I too would love it if the nation turned like a Tron cycle, but the reality is there's a lot of scared poorly informed apes acting as ballast in the hull and it steers more like a barge. can only turn slowly by small degrees because you have to get the scaredy center to see they were safe with your plan while the right is screaming fear and lies.

Struggled with this a lot. Lying to people, scaring them, making them hate is EASY but it doesn't respect them as human beings, it uses them as tools.
Fighting exploiters is almost impossible due to their resources.
Teaching people critical thinking skills seems the most effective strategy. Making it accessible, palatable, and engaging to the people who need it is where I get stuck.
May need a pre-req of organizing ourselves more effectively. How do we build an agile committee?

I concede I am out of my field but it looks to be the same refining process for extracting purer material. That implies more energy cost but it just seems unlikely to me there's one place where the most abundant element is orders of magnitude better than everywhere else. Again though, outside my field.
This ignorance raised my concerns so I requested a fact check. I did not indend to belittle a perceived loss. My apologies.

Given that silicon is the most abundant element on Earth adn that the process for refining quartz into silicon is: Heat rocks, apply electricity, I'm extremely skeptical of the claim about these mines.
So I searched.
Top hit on search for 'world's largest silicon mines' returns the US as a distant 5th to China's production at 1/20th their production rate.
