Mozilla was at about 15% of the desktop market when they jettisoned the extensions that gave their browser super powers the other big browsers didn't have. They did this over the objections of tens of thousands of their users.
Two years later and their desktop usage had dropped to about 5%.
In marketing, you never turn yourself into a commodity, but that is exactly what they did.

Just to be clear, he wasn't hunting elephants (this time). It was antelopes.
It sees to me that hunting with a high-power, long distance weapon isn't actually very sporting. It doesn't say anything about your personal attributes or capabilities. It just says that you own a piece of kit.
Better to do it the old-fashioned way, chasing the antelope in the hot sun for kilometers until either you or it finally collapse in exhaustion.

In Michigan, where companies were allowed to discharge PFAS compounds into the waterways. Where the paper manufacturer would spray effluent into the back woods, so that it could filter cleanly into the well water system.
Surprisingly, MI has (or at least had), oil wells on private land. You don't associate MI with oil, but apparently there is some.

We look up at the Moon and see one side facing us. I wonder how history would have changed if we had looked up at a moon that was constantly turning. Would we recognize that it was a sphere? Would we then realize that we too were on a sphere? Would it have catapulted our scientific knowledge by centuries?

Nice place. But we got carded a third of the time we visited. Apparently if you linger over the panel, trying to figure out which of the dozen pastries you bought, they consider it very suspicious. Meanwhile people familiar with the choices were flying in and out in seconds.

I'm sure if they wanted, they could point cameras at the surface and detect any flashes. Probably more flashes than people see.
Sending humans into space is a boondoggle. We get very little actual data back for the price.
The Curiosity Rover project cost something like 2.5 billion, and gives us information we never had before.
The Artemis / Orion programs is costing somewhere 20 to 30 billion dollars. And it's not telling us anything that the automated flybys couldn't.

Human flight is a waste of resources. I'd rather have real results now then wait another 30 years while politicians fight about the huge expense.
One of the better uses for #AI is to send semi-autonomous devices to locations around the solar system.
Until we have something like nuclear rockets, sending people into space is not a cost effective method of deep space exploration.

So Amazon is cutting off the ability of all it's ereaders made before 2012 from connecting to their library service, essentially bricking them going forward.
This seems like an environmental tragedy, and possibly a breach of contract. I paid for these devices, took good care of them, and had the expectation of decades of use.
Even with horrible acid paper, books can easily last 50 years. These devices could easily last another 10.

It's also not bad for yarn, if you want sport weight yarn from milk cotton. Thicker stuff, it stops being competitive.

On a regular bike you can stand and put your entire weight on a pedal. Not much harder than walking up a stairway.
On a recumbent, you're pushing sideways, and your back is going into your seat even as your feet push forwards. The weight of your body doesn't help, and you're not using your muscles as effectively.
