Too many apps are using notifications for advertising, incredibly annoying! 😡
In theory one can selectively disable them on the OS, but I've always the fear of disabling the wrong notification group and missing something important.

Godot was not abused. What I understand:
What actually happened: Bad actors realized that they could use Godot to code Malware that is not detected by antivirus software. They create open source tools on Github (Cracks, Twitch manager for example, and 188 others), but that tool is a Malware coded in Godot that downloads and runs additional malicious software.
What could happen, but probably didn't: Bad actors could change the data of a Godot game, turning it into malware.

Hi! Not giving a complete solution here, but a suggestion. Using @npub13j9…4fgu (VLC) may be the general easiest way, is not just a video player, but it can also convert video to different formats, is available on many operative systems and is free.

Comento mi experiencia personal con Proton: me permite ejecutar el 99.9% de los juegos. Los que no funcionan suelen ser multijugadores con anticheat que depende del kernel de windows.
Para juegos que no son de Steam: el 90% agregando a Steam como "Non-Steam Game" pude instalarlos y ejecutarlos usando Proton sin mucho problema. Se que hay herramientas que facilitan el proceso aún más.
No tengo experiencia con programas que no sean juegos, ni con Epic, así que ahí no puedo comentar.
