I thiiiiink the original gameoverse miniseries had the sort of "characters designs informed by the game they are from" thingy you wanted.

I think the main thing that made people bounce off of Mastodon stuff is that owners of instances can block other instances. And they don't want to do the research to see which instances are blocked.
Nor want to join multiple instances to minimize risk of one instance being taken off (whether from personal drama or financial reasons)

I kinda find that whole thing odd, given how mastadon has more features, and you can fill your feeds more with enough hashtags.
Tho to be fair, there are concerns of mastadon being like reddit, since instance admins can block instances from reaching.
But to that I say... best to do your own reseach in that field and pick the instance you think is best to join overall (Tho I understand how people don't wanna go through that whole schtick)

I find ladder claim extremely silly.
It's difficult to install arch, yes.
But you don't NEED to install arch.
Step 1 - Get USB
Step 2 - Plug in USB and download a distro like fedora or ubuntu
Step 3 - Flash the ISO file on the USB
Step 4 - Reboot your PC, and then mash whatever your bios key is
Step 4.5 - You can disable Secure Boot here
Step 5 - Look for the thing for booting into the media you plugged in
Step 6 - Follow the distro instructions :3

So far, it looks very promising, with it being FOSS AND heavy feature parity with Discord! (Plus ya can self host it!)
There are plans in the future to add federation too, so I can see it having a very strong network like mastadon instances!

Yeye. I don't aim to disable the development of more inclusive protocols for those scenarios. The point I want to get at is that, imo, compatibility with previous X11 features should be an *extremely high* priority, rather than an optional thing than can be tossed by the wayside.
Basically -Give. Programs. Options.- Allow developers to use window positioning if they WANT to, rather than forcing them out of being able to, again, do really cool window positioning stuff.
Completely axing positioning causes more trouble than it's worth, imo at least.

This is a hot take of mine... But I think floating windows in a 2D space is a MUCH better method of window management than tiling. I have only really tiled like... a few times. It's handy when I need it, but I don't think it's the future of window management in any way whatsoever.
Plus, there a lot of cool meta games that play around with the window position. So losing window position compatibility is not worth it whatsoever.
Just allow a window to have a global space x and y to use if they wish. Maybe have a "legacy position" toggle??

I think the biggest reason why people hate GNOME is the constant bickering on wayland development for basic features that many people on the GNOME side want to, unfortunately, overcomplicate for no heccing reason. Trying so badly to be "not X11" that programs that need those functions come up with their own solutions of using plugins, which brings a whole other can of worms into this window management ordeal XP

Honestly, rather than recommending a single distro, I would personally recommend distrohopping with an external harddrive to store your files until ya find one that fits for you.
It not only builds practice with doing linux stuff, but ya can try a bunch of distros!
Just need to set up a flash drive for ventoy first.

I think Openvibes has something where crossposting something with a CW to bluesky applies a custom label to the content.
What I am wondering... is HOW?!
How does this happen?, because it definitely doesn't look like it's exposed in the Bluesky Appview UI.
The CW system on Mastodon is objectively better imo.
Just add a CW, add a small list of possible CWs, and badda bing you are done!
Easy on the posterside, extemely useful to the viewer.
Basically no downsides at all!

Unrelated tangent, but I hate how rigid and non-customizable metadata has been (due to them basically being hard-coded).
It makes for fustrating scenarios where I want to give some kinda info to a file and "file manager says no"
You need to choose one of the preset metadata instead.
It's SO annoying.

If it's one thing I can say about it, I'd say THANK YOU for saying this.
There's a lot of people online who try to make people feel bad or guilty for getting a game they want. I find that to be kinda toxic behavior. Instead, I feel that people suggesting or asking people to join a boycott is more effective in getting people to actually...

Hrm... I think I'll buy it for myself and decide on my own what I think.
The gameplay looks super fun.
And the game is finally a Post-3DS Pokemon game that doesn't look like trash! My only current criticism visually is the flat windows with normals. Otherwise, it visually looks quite nice actually.
Imo at least.

Many people below mentioned using console commands for installing what ya want.
But even simpler than that, apps not on the appfront will typically have clear instructions to put in the terminal.
Even better, lots of commands today have really good documentation for what to do via using the help command/extension
If ya wanted to learn to fish and all that.

Apparently, Windows rolled back the requirement for the Whatever2 chip to "upgrade" from 10 to 11 (tho it displays a watermark telling you you aren't using "supported hardware")
But it's way too little way too late. They already suffered the massive PR nightmare, which isn't going to change by silently rolling back specific things at the last moment.

Stuff like this makes me happy that the Godot community managers *actually* have a backbone when it comes to this stuff
They made a post about asking game devs about games they have with LGBTQIA topics, they blocked the person who said "focus on the engine, not politics", and they swiftly took care of the people who harassed the community manager in the Github.
Even though they had some false positives in the sweep, they appologized for that and offered a way for innocent blocks to get unblocked.
The way I saw many tech Youtubers react to this completely correct action kinda... revealed their true colors :P
What I am most happy about with this is that Godot actually recieved a SPIKE in funding in the aftermath.
AND
They continued on their way to develop more amazing features.
Meanwhile, I haven't heard a lot about any recent Redot (the fork people made from Godot at the time as the "nonpolitical" fork) developments, I wonder why... >:Pc

No rules at all about that! You may have as many accounts on different instances as you'd like!
It's easy to swap between multiple accounts as well of you're on mobile (either with the Mastadon offical mobile app, or the better [imo] Moshidon fork of the app)

I think "file" is supposed to be a catch-all keyword for operations involving files.
It was pioneered by windows because they (and apple) were trying to find ways to make computers easier for the general public, and not be scared that they'll mess something up

ACHAP may be too passive, but it is more specific about WHAT alternatives/reforms would be needed.
When I see ACAB, I just think "WHAT kinda reforms are you even wanting?? It just sounds like you are jobist against law enforcement in general". Which I know know isn't the case. But the first impression isn't all that great.
Meanwhile with ACHAP, I think "Ohhhhh! Interesting. I haven't thought about that before. I immediately wanna back you up and reform laws so that police officers don't abuse their power"

I LOVE this take honestly. ACAB can come off as "All police officers everywhere are absolutely horrible people!!!" which can be easily falsified if just one police officer is an actually pretty nice guy that just tries to help people out, rather than abuse power. People can also easily respond back with "Well... MY officer in my town wasn't a bastard to me. He was a chill guy"
On contrast, ACHAP - All Cops Hold Abusable Power, is a much more nuetral and, imo, useful way to look at systematic problems in the police force. It also has much more stable grounds to not be so easily falsified, despite having "All". (which usually makes a lot of statements easily falsifiable).

I know almost everyone just gets news online, but the magazines feel like a piece of art in of themselves. Whether from the cover art, the arrangent of subjects, enclusive content (like comics), eta.
I'm kinda mad that video game magazines were pretty much already dead by the time I'd be into that stuff as a kid.
