The colorful keycaps I chose "feel" a little cramped and closer together than the Model M, despite the layout being same size. The tops of the new caps are circular and slightly less than 6mm to their neighbors, where the IBM has rectangular sloping tops that results in a more spacious 7mm spacing between the keycaps.
