4/4 - Finally, the TrueFans funding tag works slightly differently. When the fan chooses the monthly amount they wish to pay, this is a maximum budget per month.
So if the podcaster publishes a new episode, only then do we take a payment from the fans monthly budget.
But if the podcaster doesn't publish anymore episodes, then we don't keep paying the podcaster.
The podcaster only gets paid if they continue to publish more episodes. This is a great example of V4V.

For a long time, I haven't been a fan of private RSS feeds.
To access premium podcasts today, creators typically need to publish their content on a separate paywall platform such as Patreon, Memberful, or Substack.
Fans then have to create another account, purchase the subscription, copy the private RSS feed, and paste it into their preferred podcast app before they can start listening.
That's a lot of steps. #highfriction

1/2 - A year ago, Wero showed up in banking apps. A new button for sending money instantly across Europe.
But it’s much more than that.
13 countries on paper. 130 million users in theory. The whole continent building its own payment rails.
Numbers
48.5 million registered users in the first 12 months. Germany, France, Belgium. Over €7.5 billion processed.

In your user settings in TrueFans you can also choose what verbs are published.
You can also set the play percentage before we publish your activity.
For example, I have set my publish activity threshold to 48%. So if I only listen to 20% of an episode, it is not published to the fediverse.
You can also export all your activity in TrueFans as a W3C Activitystream 2.0 file.

We saw the social media slow impact on young people for money and now we are inflicting AI manipulation on the unsuspecting at speed.
Governments are supposed to provide the guard rails to protect us but they are too slow and ineffective. The pace of change is too rapid for the law to keep pace. My worry is the powerful can easily manipulate the uneducated masses.

Equally I am not making a judgement but given the depth of the support I suspect it will become the best way to send/recieve digital payments and replace Bitcoin lightning payments.
Banks and Financial institutions will provide the wallets and x.402 will be the universal transport layer. If fees are low and transactions are instant then mass adoption by consumers could happen.

x402 is an open internet-native payment protocol that brings to life the HTTP 402 "Payment Required" status code.

On June 30, 2026, Stripe, Visa, Mastercard, Coinbase, BlackRock, Standard Chartered, Google, Shopify, and more than 140 other companies have signed on to Open USD, a new US dollar-backed stablecoin initiative operated by Open Standard.
The project is designed for powering global money movement and is expected to go live later in 2026.
The initiative is led by Zach Abrams, the cofounder of Bridge, which was acquired by Stripe in late 2024.

This WC is the same. I am now excited for the knockout phases. I just wish FIFA and would stop messing the game up. VAR is a good example and water breaks another. The stop start nature of football is spoiling the game. The crowds are even booing the water breaks now.

We have also built a model to allow Podcasters to choose what activity they want to share externally. So they can choose plays, listen time, follows etc.
They can control all of this in their admin dashboard. The Data is exported as an ActivityStream.

In The TrueFans admin dashboard the podcaster can see an aggregated total of their podcasts plays, listen time and they can also see this by individual episode.
TrueFans can even show you all the first party data from other listening apps. As a bonus we also have a method to block the bots using the OPWAG bots list.

The TrueFans user can control what they publish in their settings. So they can choose what social media platforms to share their activities. They can choose what activity verbs and they can choose the percentage of their play activity before the activity is published.
This individual user activity is also shared with the podcast creator and aggregated so the podcaster can see their total plays, listen time and percentage completed

Unfortunately, I missed my favourite show live. Instead I listened to the recording and just screamed at my phone as I heard them discuss the idea and then talk about how to share data by reinventing the wheel.
TrueFans already measures every listener's activity - play, follow, share etc.
We use a W3C standard called ActivityStreams which is structured XML data
We show this in the users profile. The users can hide this or choose what activity verbs they want public.

@nprofile…td70 Apple's proprietary API for HLS video doesn't use RSS. TrueFans is going the other way We are builidng Super RSS feeds with Audio, Video and Freemium/Premium RSS in the same feed. no need for Patreon private feeds.
We are also adding blogs, events, publishers feeds and merch into the same feed.
The creator can customise the feed in their settings to choose what is included in their SuperFeed.

Today TrueFans launched Co-Listen & Chat (the new Netflix & Chill).
So if I follow you on TrueFans and we become friends. Then when you start listening to an episode, I get a notification.
If I click on the notification, I join you at the same point in the audio.
Now we can both listen together and chat in real-time about the episode.
I will be listening to Podcast 2.0 with @nprofile…7epg and @nprofile…td70.

Why is Spreaker allowing Inception Point AI? Why did RSS.com allow Light Knot Studios?
I appreciate @nprofile…td70 you detecting this slop and adding an API. But lets stop this at source.

@nprofile…w6kx I am open to feedback. Don’t worry we are aware of some limitations but be aware we are the only app that supports every podcast 2.0 tag. We are also the only platform to offer streaming audio/video and measure listen time across all apps. We are the only app to refund podcasters the data value they don’t use. Anyway maybe try us again in 6 months

@nprofile…w6kx wrong time to test. Last week we totally refactored the payments api to support LNaddress alongside Keysend. We also added support for metadata comments today. We also refactored the Podping api - so you would have had lots of issues

Red Seat Ventures has launched its own invitation-only podcast hosting company, called Speakeasy. It offers hosting, ad-supported monetization, AI-powered analytics and support for RSS, HLS and video. It also integrates Supercast, the membership platform acquired in February.
There is a trend now. Substack, Supercast, Patreon and Beehiiv are podcast portals that offer hosting as an ancillary service but primarily they offer community and premium content. /@adam @nprofile…td70

The error you see is the time out because p2.0 has so many splits but we are seeing all the payments and splits
In the past we could batch the payments using Keysend. With the new LNAddress protocol it is sent to each split individually which then times out
We are adding a payment queue next week to overcome this timeout issue

I had the £13.99 version before which allows me to put my phone in my pocket with the screen off and still I could listen. downgrading to the £7.99 version removed that feature. So I was excited that is was coming back to the £7.99 version but so far it doesn't
