Wow! Just wow. Your ability to punch down is amazing.
I was out there helping my neighbours. At least five of us had water in our basements. This is exactly why I'm so fucking prepared. It's happened many times before.
I cleaned all the storm sewers around me twice during the 16 cm rainfall but i couldn't pump water out of their basements or their backyards because i had my own problems.
We have worked together on this problem for years but the city doesn't care.
Do us both a favour and stop making wrong assumptions and belittling remarks.

Yes, i do. During the last storm, i pumped thousands of gallons / litres of water out of my basement per hour. Luckily, we still had grid power to do that.
I have a line between willingly losing thousands of dollars of investment and my potential use of propane to charge my batteries if need be should the grid be out for a day or two and no solar to collect.
However, my use is miniscule as a yearly test of a backup to a backup. You should direct your attack to larger carbon emitters instead of those of us doing what we can albeit not to your high standards.

Please. It's the backup to my backup. I only run it to make sure it still works. Otherwise, it is solar and battery. But that only works for a few days if the weather is wrong.

Doing some #prepper work.
Dug out the generator to test run it and recharge the starter battery.
Collected some of the power generated in some #ecoflow batteries.
It seemed like a flawless test.
I only need to have all this stuff do this stuff because all levels of government are ignoring climate change and the local utility has under invested in the electric grid resilience in favour of high profits.

During the height of COVID, my dentist called and reminded me about my appointment.
Then they asked a bunch of screening questions including if I was vaccinated against COVID. I answered them all.

We don't put out feed for animals and there are nice* visitors every day. They don't all come for water.

Shamefully, I'm just using an app called Physics Toolbox Suite. Is it accurate? I have no idea. You need to be careful to run it on an old cheap phone which doesn't have noise cancellation in the microphone.
I used multiple phones to test the level and picked the highest. Even if it's 40 dB, it's way quieter than the box fan CRBoxes I've built (and now disassembled).
I did find four p14 fans was louder but that may also have been the box material i used in construction.

I use Arctic p12 fans in my CRBox builds. 5 of them running at 12 V is just over 30 dB according to my phone. Less than 10W of power.
My half scale CRBoxes with 3 of those fans isn't really much quieter.

Right now, the air around here is pretty fresh. It has smelled like skunk quite a bit in the last decade.
The coughing kids moved, but two houses decided that they were going to bliss out for the pandemic. Eventually, when they did not die and needed money, they changed back to prepandemic state.
Overall though, I think I have been pretty lucky. Only one bad neighbour at a time for the most part.
Oh, and I had a neighbour that was a money laundered. That was actually fine. VERY QUIET starting at about 10:45 PM.

I have always found this common usage around visas in North America confusing.
IF the US stamps my passport on a vacation, they stamp it with a 6 month B2 visa. Yet, often their wording says we don't need visas while their official documents say every foreign national does.
This makes sense because the visa determines why you were admitted and what you are allowed to do in a foreign country (e.g. work, vacation, transit, etc.).
Not having a visa sort of means you came in undocumented but if you aren't there to live or work (just spending money), lots of countries don't care and you don't get a stamp.

Sister, I hear you.
We have two pools near by. Sometimes they are used with restraint but usually it comes with lots of yelling and being way too loud for how exciting it really is.
Oddly, the closest pool, the mother is way louder than the child although both just make noise (instead of speaking / yelling like humans). Use of this pool is usually brief, which is good.
The more distant pool, women laughing and yelling is all I hear. I am pretty sure there are men there, but they seem to be restrainded by some male peer pressure force. I am certain there is alcohol involved over there or maybe they have all had strokes affecting their diction. Their superpower is the ability to keep it going way past midnight - even during the week.
This is another reason to love fall the most.

I hear that some people received a tornado warning yesterday but then didn't get a tornado. Now they are mad enough to complain on social media.
Edit: mad that they were disturbed by a warning with no subsequent tornado - not mad (I hope) that they didn't get a tornado.
Let me describe a bit about how risk management works. Spoiler - every threat does not materialize - the idea is you should maybe get ready in case it does.
Another spoiler - most people are terrible at risk management.
Okay, there are threats. They could be COVID, tornadoes, fire smoke etc. You need to look at the universe of threats and decide which ones you care about and which ones you accept the risk will occur.
Most people accept the threat that they will get COVID and do no mitigation. Some will choose to mitigate smoke. Most of us acknowledge that cars crash so we put on seat belts.
The threat analysis is just a discussion of what might happen. a tornado watch might spur this discussion if you feel vulnerable to them (like you live in a house or are outside). They want you to analyze (think about) things in advance.
A risk can be considered a threat that has materialized. If you are concerned with this threat, you take some kind of action.
So, for a tornado warning (essentially a risk of tornado), you go look at the radar and lightning maps. Then you decide on on the severity of the risk (i.e. will it hit us) and the probably outcomes (house wrecked, vs. chairs in neighbours yard). You don't neccesarily assume that it will hit you - you need to try to figure it out and take appropriate action to mitigate a bad outcome.
yesterday, I took a look at the lightning and radar and decided it was going south of me. I checked every 15 minutes to confirm no changes. Others were not so lucky.
If nothing happened to you, should consider yourself lucky - not mad that you were disturbed (this was not about you).
And the worst thing to do is decide to ignore future warnings because you lucky once. People so often go wrong on this point.

I've found Gemini running on old phones that no longer receive OS updates.
Go into settings and search for Gemini. If you find "Gemini settings" (much to your surprise like happened to me), it's installed and likely running in place of the assistant. You can disable it for now.
