Early @nprofile…c2gl had my own cashu-ts-based stateful wallet.
Then I realized it wasn’t as simple as I first thought.
@nprofile…umhn’s Coco became the foundation I needed: a real Cashu wallet toolkit from a seasoned Cashu veteran, so I could focus on UX.

It's pretty dumb that Nostr apps that rely on caching servers can just go offline if the server stops responding. For this reason I spent the last week making @nprofile…c2gl have fallbacks so as long as some relays are online you will continue to have some level of functionality but in the best case you get the caching server user experience.

Right now I'm showing the lock icon when its p2pk but maybe that's not super relevant to the user, and the direction of payment is a better icon to show even if its already implied by the amount colour.

I'm working on making it so either the sender or receiver can be offline. And that the receiving wallet can properly signal which mints it will accept p2pk locked from via @nprofile…puz0 payment request.
The user doesn't even need to be aware any of this is happening.

I think it's better for wallets to tell users which payment methods they can use, rather than making users pick for themselves.
The user's responsibility is to give the wallet the [amount] and [destination].
It's the wallet's job to solve the [method] and [transport].
When multiple options are viable, as is often the case with BIP-321, the wallet should recommend the best path based on expected fees and transaction speed.

I considered this and chose against it. Showing this is incredibly messy. If the user wants to send then they have to mess around trying to figure out how to make up 72 with the coins they have, it's just not good UX. Users can have a lot of different "coins" and peoples fingers are fat, the buttons need to be small. It's just not good experience.
Two buttons is way better, if the user trusts they wallet they should trust it to tell them what they can and can't do.

With @nprofile…puz0 you can send ecash offline for specific amounts. For fiat-denominated payments, in @nprofile…c2gl we will automatically select the closest sat value that can be sent offline.
This is almost always within <$0.01 of the intended amount—so small that its not meaningfully different.

Do you have any suggestions? The best I can do is give a short explanation in the model, most wallets will just fail if you try to do this which is even more confusing.
In my opinion this is the best UX of any ecash wallet at the moment for this specific scenario.

Something we’re adding to this: if you send $10, the wallet will automatically try to pick a sat amount that’s spendable offline.
A penny is ~15 sats right now, so we can adjust by ~±8 sats without meaningfully changing the dollar value. If that still doesn’t produce an offline-spendable amount, we can show a popup offering a wider range (usually just a couple pennies).
Feels like a nice UX compromise since people sending dollars don’t care about the 8th decimal place of BTC.

I’ve been working on a new offline send flow for @nprofile…c2gl.
With @nprofile…puz0, offline sends are possible, but only for specific denominations.
Our approach lets users choose whether to round up or round down to the nearest valid amount, making it easier to adapt the send amount for offline use while still giving users a bit more control.

I chose this approach instead of building a proof selector. In my testing, proof selection felt much more complicated for normal users.
With this flow, the wallet automatically calculates the proofs needed behind the scenes.

I don't think so, I think the tab needs to persist but it terminates when its closed. It might be possible if implemented directly into the extension. But I haven't thought about it much, I'll keep it in mind.

I have an idea but maybe someone smarter can flesh it out:
- Create some kind on nostr where we can broadcast these endpoints for discoverability
- Is it possible to give some receipt that I can use to prove I used the API that way any reviews sent on nostr can be verified as real users?
So that way I can search for API's over nostr and see that users who have spent a lot of money seem to be very happy with the service.

Can I just say I love this project very much! Thank you for creating it. I'm migrating to it and rewriting almost all my app to be more coco-first. These are just suggestions of things where I've gotten stuck and been forced to rethink my usage of the library.
1. Can we add some status field to `SendHistoryEntry` & `ReceiveHistoryEntry`? It seems like I need to use `proofService` otherwise but I think that's a private field, I just got a bit stuck on this.
2. Maybe add `token` to `ReceiveHistoryEntry`? I know it's not super needed but its nice to show the user which token the redemption is for.
3. Could we add some field to HistoryEntry for npc receives from `coco-cashu-plugin-npc` so that I can know thats where the payment came from?
4. I found `cashu-kym` pretty useful to and I think it might belong in `coco`.
5. I'm having a weird thing happen where the state goes from PENDING->ISSUED->PAID->ISSUED. It seems to incorrectly revert to ISSUED (when minting). It could be some poor configuration on my side but I attached a video to help demonstrate whats going on.

https://bitchat.land new easy way to actually find people in our country without having to use a physical map. If you click on a geohash it will connect to local relays, which will then likely find more geohashes being used in those regions.

The spam we experience on #Bitchat is 100 messages per second like ";;;;;;;;;;;;;;". That is a bad thing, with PoW thats mostly fixed or at least its limited.

Does it make sense for the PoW to scale with the specificity of the geohash? For example, #9q is pretty hot, so a PoW of 12 would probably be far too easy for a dedicated spammer. But for a channel like #9qqqq, a PoW of 12 might be fine, since spammers are unlikely to see that as prime real estate.
I think of the difference between these two channels as similar to the difference between Times Square and a billboard in a quiet part of town that few people ever visit.
For geohashes like #s, which are shared across 20+ countries, I would expect a lot more work to go into each message. If you want to be on the front page, you should have to put in more work in my opinion.
But perhaps PoW 13 is fine for now until we feel it out more 😅
