2. I turned AMEX app notifications off because I was getting a notification for every credit card transaction. Because someone at AMEX thought that was a good idea.

There has been an impressive X to Bluesky migration in the last few days.
It would be interesting to watch a simulation of the latest influx, I assume there are interesting network effects in play.
My Bluesky feed is better than my X feed was. It’s now a worthy complement to my Mastodon feed. They don’t overlap that much, the people are quite different.

One of the best features of Bluesky is the RSS support. It lets me follow a few key people in my reader; one tap and I’m in the app or a functional web view.
This doesn’t work as well in Mastodon web view because of the login problem.
Bluesky is the journalist place now. And some academics. It’s a good complement to Mastodon.
Threads is celebrities, Bluesky is journalists, Mastodon is techies, X is MAGA and people with flexible moral standards.

I then tried to see if anyone was using the term "pruning disorders" to capture the concept of disorders related to adolescent pruning and manifesting any time thereafter. It only turned up the usual schizophrenia.
I bet "pruning disorders" as a concept, including late sequelae, will show up in the next 10y.

Your post led me to wonder how puberty blockers alter neural pruning. According to the AIs this is an active area of research. In animals they do change but they don't prune like us.
Depending on one's presumably idiosyncratic pruning "program" deferral might be good or bad or indifferent but I suspect we are decades from knowing.

I wonder if there is a *non-dementing* brain disorder with onset in the late 40s to 60s. Something that has the kind of rigid fixed delusion and “tunnel vision” we see in schizophrenia and similar connectopathies with mostly preserved memory and preserved (routine) cognition
If it truly exists I suspect it’s not a new problem. Something that’s not rare but not super common.
Just a thought. I’m still noodling on it.

Today I asked my adult special needs son to help me with a small home task and he made only a perfunctory objection and was then quite helpful.
This sounds like a complaint. It is not. It is a celebration. I am a bit teary. He has come a very long way and lately seems to be improving every month.
If I’d known 20y ago we’d get here I’d have less white hair now.
