The team is digging while lining the well to prevent the surrounding soil from collapsing. We also purchased the required materials, including cement, sand, waterproofing materials, and ordinary bricks, and they are already being used on site.
The clay bricks, which will be used in the section where the well reaches water because they are more durable in constant moisture, have been ordered and should arrive on Monday..

Our water well project has now reached a more challenging stage. The team has encountered large stones underground, including one so heavy that it took four people working together to turn the pulley and remove it.
Today marks Day 5 since the project began. We are deeply grateful to everyone standing with us. Your support is making a real difference and helping this work move forward on the ground.

We worked together with the pupils and the staff of Jerome Nursery and Primary School to harvest our maize, which was ready for harvest.
¥¥The best part is that we donated all of it to the school.
As one of our partner schools, we are happy to be supporting each other!
The donated maize will be milled into flour, which will provide meals for the school for several weeks.💪

2 days ago we removed unwanted weeds, and we are preparing to harvest our maize which is now ready.

Wonderful! We had special visitors this season. #birds 🐦 They came and blessed our maize garden, and without asking permission they enjoyed the first taste of our corns/maize. 😄
It was great to see nature enjoying nature. A small reminder that our harvest is shared with many living things around us.

Another chapter about our trip.This one is all about #maggotfarming We were inspired to see how #farmers raise maggots that are used as #nutritious feed for their #chickens and pigs.
The process starts with black soldier flies that are kept in specially designed meshed cages!
The flies lay eggs, which are carefully collected and moved to safe areas for hatching. The larvae feed on crop residues, compost, and other organic materials as they grow through different stages. Under warm conditions, the whole process takes about two to three weeks!
This was a great inspiration for us as #EYN. Seeing this simple and practical system gave us new ideas, and we hope to one day establish a similar project in our community and apply what we learned during the trip.

Hi #Mastodon family If you missed us, we are back from our trip to Kenya. Before anything else, we want to thank everyone who supported us and helped make this journey possible. We may have disturbed a few people while fundraising, but we knew the opportunity to learn was too important to miss.
The farm we visited was full of inspiration: fish farming, maggot farming, worm farming, cattle, chickens, vegetables, bananas, and much more. It's an #organicfarm, and honestly, we learned even more than we expected.
What amazed us most is that the farm is about the same size as our land at EYN, yet every corner is productive and innovative.
Every day brought new ideas. The moment we stepped onto the farm, our minds started imagining new possibilities.1/3

Hi #Mastodon family some people have been asking why we don’t post the maize on our land hhh. So here it is, our maize field looks all green and healthy 😉.
And the funny part is 🌽😂 the maize we gave the least attention is now among the most developed around us. Harvest time is getting closer and we can’t wait to share with the community 😉
In #Africa maize are used to make posho, a common school meal. Fresh maize can also be roasted or boiled and tastes great 😉.

We successfully completed mulching our banana plantation, and the plants are now well organized. This was not easy for us because it was challenging to find enough grass for mulching, but we are happy we managed to finish it.
Mulching helps in keeping moisture in the soil, improves soil fertility, reduces weed growth, and protects the plants from strong sun and heavy rain. This helps the bananas grow healthier and stronger.

This thread is about our banana plantation project which is ongoing As you may know we started by planting fruit trees like mangoes, avocados guavas, and oranges with some few other types of trees on our land. Next is bananas, as we continue building a productive organic, and sustainable farm. Yesterday we held a colorful tree-planting program in the Lunnya the small town Together with pupils from Lwamata Primary School in Lunnya, we walked through the the community carrying tree seedlings to the planting site. Along the way, many people joined and learned about our mission. As a member of EYN in Uganda, I believe a good coffee farm is one that cares for both the land and the people. Fair trade and organic are important, but true sustainability goes deeper. A good farm protects the soil, keeps trees and shade, uses water wisely, and avoids chemicals that harm the environment. Today, as I was coming back from one of the schools where we recently initiated a sustainable garden, I passed by Kana’s farm. I was truly impressed he has a variety of healthy trees and his work is really inspiring. I plan to go back soon to visit him properly. I believe there’s a lot I can learn from him, and I look forward to building a strong connection.

During the strong #sunshine we #UgandaEcoYouthsNetwork found a smart #ecoFriendly way to keep water in our crops by using dried materials cut from our #banana plantations to cover the soil around our #eggplants this simple #climateSmart method helps the soil stay cool and moist even in dry weather and protects our food from drying out it's how we fight #hiddenHunger through #sustainableFarming and local innovation we never give up because #youthInAg can #stopHunger and build a resilient future.
