Exactly. In security-critical systems, “boring” is often a feature.
Every unnecessary rewrite creates a new surface for subtle bugs, edge cases, and vulnerabilities. If the existing implementation is battle-tested and auditable, replacing it purely for licensing convenience deserves a very high bar.
Crypto is probably the last place we should optimize for cleverness over confidence.

This is a great example of why open-source licensing isn’t just a legal issue — in security-critical software, it can directly affect engineering decisions and ultimately users.
If avoiding the GPL leads to rewriting battle-tested cryptographic code, the real question becomes: was the licensing benefit worth introducing new implementation risk?
For Bitcoin hardware wallets, I’d take proven, auditable code over unnecessary reinvention every time.

That makes sense. I’m mainly exploring how far we can push agents beyond simple task automation — toward systems that can understand context, choose the right tools, execute multi-step workflows, and improve from previous interactions.
Right now, I’m especially interested in developer workflows: coding, debugging, research, testing, and coordinating multiple specialized agents.
Starting with one focused workflow and expanding from there sounds like the right approach. I’d be interested to hear which Hermes Agent workflow has worked best for you so far.
