It has a 120GB SSD for boot and home.
~/Documents, ~/Videos, ~/Music, ~/Pictures and ~/Downloads all lead to a 1.8TB spinning rust with all my stuff.

Sometimes, if the line up is way out the door, we quickly dispatch someone to go out and buy a ham we can slice up quickly and hot up on the flat top.

I'm not a cook, per se - I just volunteer for different organizations.
Once a month, the Knights of Columbus have a pancake breakfast at a K-10 school and I've been cooking for it for ~20 years. I am not in the Knights of Columbus, I just like donating my time. I do the odd other thing from them too.
So.. the adjacent Catholic church has a 9am and an 11am mass which generates 2 sittings at 10am and 12 noon.
That meal includes fruit platters, french toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon (I do all the meat) and scrambled eggs. The cost is by donation - you can eat free, over pay or whatever. Each time is for some charity or other.
The other one, is because I'm a 'senior' now and I am another group. About every 6 weeks we have a free meal about something and 120-140 people show up.

Don't be too critical: I just threw this website up last week.
All the Irish stuff sounds made up, but I'll be cooking it. I cooked all the burgers for the Valentines thing, you can see a foto of me with pergoies for the oven in the gallery. I need more fotos of the other events and to take out a bunch of Ukrainian Christmass - it's just all I had on my hard drive.
The yellow house and barn are all thrift shop - I need to do a lot of work to that site, but I'm in other things too.
Our Skeena Local Action for Palestine had a 5 course dinner with a couple of cooks from Gaza. I did hours of prep and ran the dishpit. I got home at 22h30 that night after starting just after noon. Very successful politically and donation-wise. We're going to do it again.
And now I'm also in the Greens executive...
I like and need to be doing things vs. just doom scrolling and filling in petitions and stuff.

So not a good Sunday for a pancake breakfast.
We had very high winds last night. The power went out, but only for 5 minutes or so, but the internet was off for the next 14 hours.
One of the guys I cook with is in charge of the electrical grid for quite a large area around us. He told me he had to send crews out to a substation near us and he sent two crews up north to Stewart and... somewhere else; forget.
But the thing is, our clocks moved forward an hour, so when I got up at 5, it was really 04h00 in my body, but I need to start cooking early, because I do all the meat for the first sitting of probably 120-140 people.
Speaking of which... I said to buddy "Why this different bacon?" 16kg of bacon wasn't what I was used to cooking. Well, that brand of bacon is now C$30/kg (€19)!! The one I used was C$12/kg and quite fatty. Our grocery prices in Canada are insane these days. 2L of milk I just bought was C$5.37 (€3.40). A can of olive oil that was $18CAD is now $40 (€25.34)! You can bet I save all the bacon grease from the flat top!

Our first green party riding association meeting
Well. There were only 4 of us - and 3 of us are also in Skeena Local Action for palestine - including our candidate. We need to get the news out - there must be some card carrying greens around. I think we can find out and have the party mail them.
We put up a poll for the date of the first AGM. It needs 30 days advance notice and a voting period of 7 days.
Frankly, there's lots of paper work to get through as well as a lot of regulations to adhere to.
Well, I'm happy anyhow. It's a start.
Our local action went from 4 at a demo to several dozen within a year. I'm happy.

Instead, I found Galene was light enough and could handle what I needed just fine. Also has some cool plugins like for SIP.

We're not quite that bad, but it simply means that the council here isn't spending enough to fix all the potholes or redo whole streets down to the pipes.
But they spend money on stupid things instead!
I personally know a couple of councilors (small town) and I've written to others. I should really go to council meetings and button-hole the bastards, but I haven't.

I have a spare box that I play with. I don't think it's a sin! :-)
I use debian on my public facing servers in Germany and debian Mint on my own boxes here in canada.
I boot interesting things from my Ventoy key. Hurts nothing; keeps me informed and up to date.
And yeah, after Amiga, I hit 1994 slackware.
Neither microsoft nor apple have ever been my main box, but I have prostituted myself out to fix them, yes. :-(

I wonder how common this is?
Like, in my house there is common everything.
So there's a common thing of money in the kitchen. I hurt my back, so I took like $600 from it over a month. I just paid it back yesterday.
Not all our cars fit in the driveway. We take w/e is nearest the kerb from the keys we leave at the door.
We all just buy food randomly and pick food - forage. It seems to work ok. No one is complaining. @nprofile…rhse has a kind of institutional version of co-op. I don't know how that works.

I'm using an Oracle/PplSoft product well-known for expensive systems, which may or may not work (like the Federal payroll...). However, in this instance, it seems mostly OK, but with parts missing. Like if I am forced by circumstances to visit LifeLabs instead of my local hospital, then those records do not appear in my 'Health Record' and there is no notice that anything is missing. You need a separate login at LifeLabs* - owned by a New Jersey based 'health' conglomerate in the USA. And I can't see my chart or what my GP can see about me. Nor can I access any dicom or other images. GP's aren't integrated at all actually. Neither are specialists or prescriptions.

@nprofile…gu6c I can't even name many genres. I don't think I subscribe to any one in particular. Some songs I like and some I don't. I can happily listen to toccata and fugue in d minor closely followed by rammstein or metallica. I have those plus cumbia and rai music on my phone; all mixed up. Not too big on opera and mostly despise country and western - with the odd exception for both. Very odd! :-)
I don't know where I might have heard Closing Time. Your foto caption simply triggered the association to the track and I looked it up.

1958 Soviet Kerosene Powered Radio
When I was 11 or 12, I read about such a radio. I don't think there was a photo. I read, basically, how a thermocouple worked and, in my mind's eye, I saw two wires of dissimilar metals wrapped around a glass chimney leading to a small AM radio.
The reality is way better on the Soviet end of things. Mind you, when I was a kid, no USian magazine was going to be saying admiring things about the USSR, no matter how deserving.

We have nothing similar. No buildings like that. No pavement. No signage. No such trains.
Our tallest building is FIVE WHOLE FLOORS! :-)
My children were completely fascinated by 'moving stairs' in the big city down South - they treated them like a carnival ride and went on them over and over again in delight! :-)
I find it difficult to imagine living in such big cities - all packed so closely together too. It's a different reality.

So, exactly 'so?' It's not black forest ham! :-)
Who knew? Some marketing ploy is all it is I suppose, but it's widespread.
And that is *not* a normal canadian deli sandwich - it's kind of a joke sandwich, it's so big. My work gave me a $100 gift certificate to that deli or I would find it too expensive in the first place.

This one happens to be black forest ham with swiss on rye, but beef or whatever is similar.

Well, they are certainly very welcome. A year ago we had 5 internalists - but none of them lived here. They just did 20% time. Obviously, that means we are covered all the time, but are short of specialists and GP's both. I am blessed with my own doctor (south african), because years ago when I first needed one, all my nursey friends told me to try and sign on with him, but many people need to use walk-in clinics or simply go to A&E. - no choice.
As well, I sometimes hear than an emergency room in one town or another up here simply shut down for a day or two for lack of staff.
The shortage is really know joke my friend.

Of course, as you know, one of the main problems in all the countries down there is foreign political influence, which traditionally comes from the USA. The USA has destroyed democracies, removed and installed dictators, fomented coups, assassinated...
These days China is becoming more influential as well. Tearing a page from the USA's play book, they are lending massive amounts of money for infrastructure projects - which use their own products, labour and corporations to provide [whatever] - plus the interest, naturally! Works a treat!
You can see China playing this old game not only in latin america, but also around asia in general.
