Nice to have a clear cutoff point! You probably feel a bit lost in the beginning but take your time to experiment in finding your new balance. In my case I also added sleep quality/quantity and proper workout/recovery balance (HRR and HRV) to the experimenting. Where I was strictly bound to my schedule in the past I now often take recovery or easy days if needed. It feels so good to know that my body is in optimal shape in all of these aspects.
My slogan nowadays is 'getting old healthy' instead of being the fastest or do the most distance.

I think you will find it very liberating to.
Had more or less the same situation with cycling years back.
I did 15-15K each year and felt I had to maintain that distance each year.
At a certain point I quit cycling only and varied to running, rowing, walking and still some cycling and it felt so liberating.
Even I do workout almost every day I don't have a minimum daily time or distance in which I get trapped.
And to my surprise my cycling performance is just as good and often even better as before 😁.

Last Saturday, I ran the Vuurtorentrail on the island of Ameland. As expected, it was another tough edition with lots of loose sand, dunes, beach, and wading through water and mud.
My body was basically done with it after 25km, but my ego wasn't :-). So I battled through it and eventually made it to the finish line.
It was the first time in ages that I felt like I had thoroughly earned that medal.

I asked my "virtual coach" to analyse the average HR during my daily mediation sessions and my health data (RHR, HRV) and my trainingload (CTL).
Relation is clear and make sense to me. If I had a heavy workout and as a result my HRV was low and RHR high the night after, also my avg HR during my morning meditation was higher than normal.
The opposite also applies. If well recovered, HRV high and RHR low, my avg heartrate during meditation was also low.

Today was threshold day again. Two 15-minute blocks with a 5-minute recovery in between. I also managed to run a 10k personal best. I'd never seriously attempted a fastest 10k time before, but there's clearly room for improvement.

Clear. So its more like RPE running.
Reason for me asking was that it could be so that if you ran on pace, you were (training wise) running unneccesary hard. If you would switch to HR zones than you would get the same bang for your buck but at a lower pace, which in return is better for saving your back.

I think that runners who are trying to improve their PB's on different distances prefer to run on the road. Just because they can be faster there.
Personally I found it a relieve to escape that performance driven culture and shift more towards being long days out running and enjoying nature.
I have to admit that I am still looking at ways to improve my performance but not with the goal to beat others in faster times.

The Veluwezoom trail run went as planned today. The goal was an average pace of 7min/km. To achieve that, I'd decided to run the first 20km at my base heart rate of 129. If I still had some energy left in the last 10km, I could let go. And that's pretty much how it went. Although the heat and high humidity also caused a slight increase in heart rate.
Final verdict: Mission accomplished! 😊✅

The problem I encounter with (non-competitive) fastpacking compared to bikepacking is that I can only run (enjoyable) a few hours a day. So what to do the remaining time? So your plan of traveling a part of Friday compensates for that.

Last week was a good (heavy) training week.
With 11h39m it was more than 3 hours above average.
Of that, 1h07m was in Z3 HR which is also considerably more than normal.
Furthermore, I ran 4 days in a row since years (normally 1 rest day between runs). This went well and is worth repeating.
Average HRr of 42 was fine.
HRV also remained within the bandwidth which indicates good recovery despite the extra effort.

Humango's workout for today looked like the Runmotion Hike/Runs i have been doing the last months.
Five times a 12 minutes Z2 run followed by 2 minute walk.
Speedmars is what we use to call this in the Army.
Next week I am gonna do a short 3-day trailruning trip in east of the Netherlands. Booked a place for 2 nights from where I will do daily trailruns. Just run, diner, some beers and a good book. 😃

And what an adventure Snowdonia Ultra was.
I know it would be a tough race but didn't expect it to be this brutal.
After the 2th climb of mount Snowden all the juice in my legs was gone and I wasn't able to make the cutoff time for aid station #2.
Buddy Bas had to throw the towel a little after aid station #2.
But my wife still found us "medal worthy" so we got one from here 😘😘.

If I extrapolate today's activity to the 55km of Snowdonia I would have "only" made ~1600m EG. Snowdonia is actually 3500m which makes me conclude that the climbs are pretty steep.

Een bijkomend positief verschijnsel van de Trump chaos is dat Europa nu eindelijk werk maakt van zijn eigen defensie.
Volgende stap is meer eensgezind en slagvaardiger te worden. Dat zal nog wel even op zich laten wachten ben ik bang.

I use HR instead of pace. Pace is useless on the tracks. But aren't you, as a mathematician, attracted to these detailed workouts? 😁 (never mind, I think I know the answer🤣)

Gooood morning pplz!
What keeps me occupied today (besides my work 😉) ?
1. My mail/data migration away from Google. I just moved to Proton but I am still investigating other options. Also replaced Android by e/OS on my second backup mobile.
2. Running ofcourse! Scheduled for today is a progression run. This weekend there will be another long one (3hr).

About wet feet: When I turned from cycling into running I was very cautious about not getting my feet wet. On a long bike ride it is impossible to get them warm again afterwards.
But it turned out that running wet feet didn't bother me. My philosophy is that pounding on the floor at every step assures a good blood circulation which will keep the feet warm as a result.

Ready to goto Noordwijk for the NSL beach run. 15km partial over the beach and partial through the dunes / forrest.
It is a short casual run towards the UTS50 in May.

Up until now I have been reluctant to do back-2-back runs. Always 1 recovery day between runs.
But after a few years of continues running and strength training I am now ready to try to run 2 days in a row again.
I hope that my body has become strong enough in the meantime to keep injuries at bay
.
So from today 4 runs per week of which 2 on consecutive days.

The beautiful winter sun kept calling me today. So I quickly packed my things for a nice long hike. On the way I couldn't resist the temptation to jog a bit (but I saved my energy for the long run tomorrow 😁).

Since I switched from cycling to (trail)running as my main sport, I notice that I am less and less motivated to go cycling outside in winter. I used to cycle outside all winter long, but now I prefer the warmth on the indoor trainer 😆. Running outside in winter is not an issue 🏃‍♂️✅
