i guess the logical distinction is crypto mining on the build service is an active malice against the commons (someone is using a tool to do a thing) while writing the crypto miner as a tool is either unrealized or nothing (someone has to use a tool to cause harm, many tools never do.)

lamenting windows and linux doesn't have a nice and simple way of automating basic shit.
"wait one hour, turn off media player" or "wait one hour, quit discord."
linux can (through shells which aren't very discoverable. macos can absolutely with applescript. windows is who the fuck knows (batch files?) but like. the Automator style "doesn't need to know things to do basic task" just kind of went up in smoke.
(i'm not sure if macos still has automator at all, but i'm thinking something akin to automator and node-red, or maybe gdevelop, as some kinda macro thing, that just ships with the fucking system.)

@nprofile…tsag @nprofile…d73q @nprofile…6kdq i suspect there's some stuff behind the scenes that people aren't told about or isn't obvious. like i'd be surprised if claude isn't secretly doing rag searches during prompts, because it will occasionally reference some obscure shit while also forgetting about it elsewhere.
the self rigs have a lot of people doing similar things where they patch in knowledge base searches / hints / etc in to goose and does a lot of taping to get the local model to behave. i'd be surprised if anthropic isn't doing a lot of the same behind the scenes.
