My wife often does crossword puzzles and will ask me if I know the answer from the hint. One for today was "Abbot and Costello's man on second."
So, of course, I said "What." And she said "No, who." And I said "No, who's on first, it's what." So she proceeded to re-read the clue.
I've never actually seen this work in real life, and it was hilarious. (My wife, however, was not amused).

it's not zero sum, so this a loss in the estimated value of those companies. Because the current valuation is a bet on future performance. So, since the moves are bad for business, the bet is that the companies will make less money, hence, they are not worth as much.
Like when a house is for sale at $600k and then they lower the price to $500k. The money didn't go anywhere, but the bet on the value of the house changed.
That might not be a great analogy, but it's what came to mind.

Stumbled across the [Historic Belmont Firehouse](https://yelp.to/wn9Dz_ZO8U ) in SE #Portland after lunch at Annam VL. This is a cool little museum about the history of Portland's fire department, and while obviously great for kids, I learned a lot. Open Wednesdays and Second Saturday.
They have an amazing real and not-for-kids video where they saved the life of a man after he had a cardiac arrest.
