After 8.5 weeks, I've finished Mark Danielewski's newest, the 1200+-page tome that is Tom's Crossing. I languished, I complained, I doubted. And then, I cheered, I applauded, I was sad for it to be over. It's books like these that make me unable to quit a book I've started, especially a book I've invested a lot of time into. No regrets.

Just finished reading a novel that is a take on the life of this historical person, Antonio de Erauso. I wouldn't recommend the novel, but the Wikipedia article alone is fascinating. Born in the late 1500s in Spain, was a nun until they escaped the convent to live as a man, became a swashbuckling explorer, continuously escaped execution for their many crimes, and marriage. It's debated how they actually identified, the novel at any rate presents them as a trans man.
