I do not think you can use the spark wallet from primal web. I was using the mobile app and I dont have a debugger for my mobile setup.

I'm hearing there is a LOT of irrational fear around Deepseek in the F500 C Suite. Fear that because it comes from *China* it must be a security risk. When truthfully, there are ways to make it *more* secure than throwing your data into the OAI/Anthropic honey pots.
Don't get me wrong Deepseek has some flaws. But the aversion from big companies is an opportunity for small companies:
- Deepseek pushes out the PPF for Cost vs Intelligence
- Smaller companies with less to lose can afford to experiment to unlock the gains from low cost intelligence
- They or their suppliers learn how to minimize both operational and security risk with self hosting, secure enclaves and sound security practices
- Big companies get herded into restrictive covenants with Anthropic/OAI and pay 10-50x more to get the same thing AND leak competitive data to AI monopolies
It will take time for this to play out. But we could be looking at self induced obsolescence out of irrational fear. To me, saying no to cheaper models is like saying no to gunpowder.

Hot take: I am skeptical of the Soft War thesis. Bitcoin is just a claim on PoW done in the past and it is only as strong as the ability to protect the private keys assigned to past PoW units.
From that point forward it's just cryptography decoupled from the PoW used to create new units. Nothing new. IMO it can make bitcoiners look bad if they don't actually contend with that fact and just parrot these talking points without critical analysis simply because Orange Coin Good.

Nostr has better incentives but imo the idea of no algos = automatically more gooder is flawed.
I think the algorithms in many cases are bad but they are in a way a boogeyman, excusing us from what they really are: a mirror. They show us what we want to see. If we are defective then the feed becomes more defective.
The best outcome is for technology to feed into our better natures but if I'm being real I think most of social media in general is fake and gay. There are cool people like you out there... but at the same time I would argue social media inherently an exercise in self aggrandizement much of the time. Nostr doesn't change that.

Idk your samples are pretty skewed. Maybe its because of your background since software patents are mostly fake and gay. I have a background in hardware so my sampling is not just my old boss. I had a lot of professors who built wealth with good inventions for example one that made laser measurement systems for wood furniture. Now he is automating painting lines in the road at highway speeds to DOGE transportation parasites that waste 100x whatbhisnsytem costs.
I think if you just limited or eliminated the ability to reassign patents and put a cap on lifetime volume you would curb most a lot of the problems. I do not believe it is impossible to do correctly. I will read your steelman recommended reading anyway. Thanks for the debate.

I worked at his company and tbh I doubt they would have had the space to accomplish what they did without the temporary advantage of the patent. It is not one guy. It is probably thousands just like him. But the myopic views do not account for them.
You assume that the capex investments in innovation will be the same the day you axe IP law but it would completely change the way people behave.
In this thread others also reference China which explicitly uses state power to exfiltrate trade secrets and other data. They do not have IP law. If not having IP law is so great why do they need to put their thumb on the scale like that? Maybe it is because they indirectly benefit from the capex subsidy conferred by Western IP law. And they use it as a geopolitical tool.
I agree the system is in need of major reform. For example I would have some kind of revenue limit after which you do not get exclusive rights. I still do not think it is justified to just copy paste other peoples stuff without permission.

The company i referenced was founded in the 60s where there was some semblance of parity between entrepreneurs and big companies. Lutron went from one guy in a garage to competing with General Electric and inventing dozens of other important thinhs. And that was a net good for the global economy. It can be done.
The biggest issue is the cost of litigation and other forms of corruption. I am in favor of major reform.
However just because there is parasitism at one end of the spectrum does not justify the parasitism of expropriating the R and D work of others at the other end.

You are essentially saying "because I have the ability to copy and take the fruits of someone elses R and D labor I am justified in doing so". It is no different morally from stealing someones seed phrase.
I agree that there is a balance where IP owners should not be unduly profiting off of just monopoly. But there is also a legitimate use for IP and protecting the rights of people that make huge capex investments in trying to make things better.

Life gets better when theres a strong incentive to innovate like a temporary monopoly. The system is abused and is long overdue for reform. But what you are describing is communistic in a way i.e. I am entitled to copy your design exactly. There are a lot of great inventors that made generational wealth for their families by getting patents and then relentlessly trying to scale. A great example is Lutron - founded in 1961 by the inventor of solid state dimming. He refused to sell out to GE and has enriched his family and the town hr is from. That IS value creation and you are being myopic and dogmatic imo.
I agree the disparity is closing but I attribute much of that to cultural decline, other perverse incentives and AI assisted design helping the oriental mind overcome its rigidness.
If what you say is true then forced IP transfers and model weight distillation would not occur.

I get where you're coming from but the problem is mostly when corporations come in and auto assign inventions that they're employees create to themselves. Then due to having deep pockets they can afford Bureaucracy as a Moat.
IMO for small entrepreneurs there needs to be a way for them to be compensated fairly for innovating in a field. It's easy to copy paste. It's hard to find value in a new way of doing something.
Anything less is soft communism. You take away the incentive of millions to try to make things better.

Wild story about AI citing explicitly fictional science as authoritative facts. From @ HedgieMarkets on X:
🦔A researcher invented a fake eye condition called bixonimania, uploaded two obviously fraudulent papers about it to an academic server, and watched major AI systems present it as real medicine within weeks.
The fake papers thanked Starfleet Academy, cited funding from the Professor Sideshow Bob Foundation and the University of Fellowship of the Ring, and stated mid-paper that the entire thing was made up. Google's Gemini told users it was caused by blue light. Perplexity cited its prevalence at one in 90,000 people.
ChatGPT advised users whether their symptoms matched. The fake research was then cited in a peer-reviewed journal that only retracted it after Nature contacted the publisher.
My Take
The researcher made the papers as obviously fake as possible on purpose. The AI systems didn't catch it. Neither did the human researchers who cited it in real journals, which means people are feeding AI-generated references into their work without reading what they're actually citing.
I've covered the FDA using AI for drug review, the NYC hospital CEO ready to replace radiologists, and ChatGPT Health launching this year. All of that is happening in the same environment where a condition funded by a Simpsons character and endorsed by the crew of the Enterprise was being presented as emerging medical consensus. The people making these deployment decisions seem to believe the pipeline from research to AI to patient is more supervised than it actually is. This experiment suggests it isn't supervised much at all.

Some would argue it is not stealing them rather it is burning them after a long grace period. I am not even saying I am 100% on board with this plan but the steelman is: if you do not care enough to move them for security after a long grace period you do not care to own them.
I understand your steelman but I am not convinced. It strikes me as one of those suicidal libertarian axioms people take on just to be perfectly consistent without contending with practical outcomes.

Complete platitude that ignores the point.
What we signed up for in bitcoin is a system that protects the rightful ownership of coins that were purchased or earned legitimately.
Quantum fundamentally changes the security assumptions and allows a group with quantum computers to take from the legitimate owners.
The logic is the same as if the Bitcoin Core wallet were compromised. I would not want those funds flooding the market on account of a security vulnerability.

Thats not a real argument. Tbh its childish. Given enough time the logical assumptions underpinning ECDSA can absolutely break. Even if all the quantum people are grifters (I contend they are), the fact remains that on the order of hundreds of years new computational and physics paradigms can weaken ECDSA. And it is better to have a solution ready when that happens.

I tend to agree but im more interested in what happens when the cryptography eventually does become obsolete. If it is not quantum it could be something else even if it takes a century. The principle of ownership is not as clear cut when the cryptography breaks down.
