Like I said, that's a different issue. If they are pushing out qualified Canadians and don't have the skills, then yes, they're being brought over to race bait your and create a pressure cooker of anger. Has the straight actually been closed at all? All the real indie media (American Vagabond, James Corbett, etc.) all seem to question if the strait was ever closed, or if any of these Iranian mines were even real. You could use the ship trackers and see tons of ships moving in and out the whole time it was "closed."
I've heard some ships won't move because their insurance carriers won't cover them if their companies don't pay the Iranian fees, but that's far different than an impassible blockade.

Last item I sold got damaged in shipping. The guy claimed USPS wouldn't cover it, which I said couldn't be true. eBay sided with them, made them a return label, which shipped it to an address I haven't lived at in 13 years! eBay refused to refund me. I had to go to my bank to force a charge back, and I think they just paid it instead of charging back to eBay, which kinda just made me more angry.
I stopped using eBay for a while after that, but there are just some parts I can't find anywhere else and I don't want to go back to Amazon (who I haven't used since 2016). Mercari requires uploading your photo ID to sell there, so fuck them.
I think I'm only going to sell things on Craigslist now.

I can tell you didn't watch the documentary or even the interview with Zimmerman near the beginning. The facts: Travyon had zero injuries other than the gun shot wound. All the neighbors witnessed him punching Zimmerman relentlessly. He was literally beating Zimmerman's skull into the concrete. Martin didn't live there, Zimmerman did. He had no reason to be there, and when a man on neighborhood watch asks why he's there, the man starts to beat him to death. It's all literally in the 911 call (which CNN deceptively edited to make Zimmerman seem racist).
Most people don't know, Zimmerman also volunteered with big brothers/sisters and mentored two black kids for about a year. So neighborhood watch, volunteer mentor? Seems like someone trying to do something positive.
Zimmerman was found innocent in a court of law because he was innocent. A man has a right to shoot someone who is beating them to death unprovoked. Martin was not murdered. He is not a victim. He died by his poor choices.

I didn't know she was on Rogan. She's done several podcasts with Jamie Hanshaw (Jamie Dyer). I think they did a series on Britney Spears and the whole Hollywood/MKUltra/Monarch Mind Control stuff which was really interesting.

oh I had access to a CRT oscilloscope in our embedded systems lab in grad school. We had some LCD ones too, but the analogue ones just felt so much better. You could adjust your sample rate just right and get a perfect straight line from the aliasing from a sine wave generator.

It's a ways down the line. In other countries they're going full authoritarian over you not owning your own electronics equipment. In the US they're trying to slowly boil the frog with just a simple "we're requiring the OS to have your age in it."

I wasn't going to bother trying it because it required a phone number, so an old college friend just gave me his user/pass when it was first released. I messed with it here and there for over a year until OpenAI added 2FA (which is always to prevent account sharing and rarely about security).
He'd delete out old chats, but I noticed he asked GPT EVERYTHING. He used it like a crazy general search, recipes, general facts, etc. He's also super "bullish" on the LLMs, uses them for all his coding and refuses to talk to me whenever I call them "Weight Random Word/Code Generators" because I'm using a "slur."
He's not so bad our conversations sound like LLMs, but I've heard that's happening to some people ... like they use GPT/Claude so much it changes the way they write and talk.

Interesting. I never though about it working both ways: the ocean vs the jar.
It makes me think about the Plato's Cave allegory and how it's literally impossible to tell if you're inside or outside the cave. What is "real" in these contexts? I'm not familiar with those belief systems. Is a simulation theory world not-real? What if the simulation wasn't inside a machine, but our universe was on a giant's table-top .. like Sea Monkeys? Even if we're in a machine of some kind, wouldn't we still be .. "real"?
I guess it's all in how you define the material world.

There's a documentary I can't find on any torrent site. I decided to just buy it to support the creator. It's published on mymoviesplus.com though, and it requires DRM to play. Fuck if I'm enabling that ever. Of course, yt-dlp refused to download anything with DRM, even if you have `--cookies-from-browser`.
I know you can just use a screen recorder and record the whole thing manually, but surely there's a better way to break browser-based DRM (that of course won't show up on any search engine).

Friendly reminder to Americans who file taxes but don't want to give money to fucking Intuit. It's pretty easy to crack TurboTax with your favorite debugger/decompiler. dnSpy supports doing easy "hex write (true/false)" for boolean functions.
Install the software and let it preform all its updates. Close it when it asks for activation. You then need to edit the `Intuit.Ctg.Service.dll` found in `C:\Program Files\TurboTax\Individual 2025\64bit`.

The proliferation of computing for regular consumers is pretty fascinating. I found a paper from 2009 (Deursen, Dijk) that talked about how people had trouble doing the simplest things like saving a file or using a location bar in a web browser.
I doubt it's gotten any better since then. I wonder what kinds of weird support calls people got back during the C64 era.
I worked phone tech support for a power company in graduate school and it was pretty eye opening.

I think it was an intentional long-con. The hard-left/hard-right are like a quarter of the population or less. There are way more independent/libertarian/whatever in the middle. There are plenty of people who don't want _Iraq Part II: The Iran Boogaloo_. But fuck if they're going to stand next to pro-Biden people who want to allow hormones put in kids and mandatory experimental medication. On the other side, those people don't want "nazis" and "fascists" at their anti-war rallies either.
2016~2020 was one of the largest MKUltra-style experiments ever carried out against the world population. Even people who stand together against war can no longer stand together because of literally everything else.
The psyche of the world has been fragmented. It's a form of collective trauma that's separated the population in absolutist and totalist terms.

Also, you don't use an LLM to generate songs. An LLM is literally a *Large Language Model*. He had to use a mixed-model or audio-model.
I never use music streaming services. I have a massive SD card in my phone with all my music. Some I've pirated, some I've ripped from CDs I've bought at shows, some I've bought from Bandcamp (before they started censoring people). If you BUY your music and give artists money directly at shows instead of renting it, you're providing them value and getting value.
There was a lot of fraud with fake streaming long before the AI era. There are videos of people with a wall of cellphones setup where they select the same tracks over and over. This guy just automated that process, probably making it easier for him to get caught too.
