I have a challenge for you..
Thirty years ago, I ran a small business producing counted cross stitch embroidery kits. It was called "DevaStitch Designs", because we were based just outside Chester, but mostly what I did was small designs of local landmarks for the small local needlecraft shops that used to abound.
I did a kit of the Paddle Steamer Waverley for the needlecraft shop in Largs, and it sold very well. I sent the worked model, after photography, to the shop, and it never came home again (not surprising, we closed our businesses about the same time, and there was some chaos.
We were on the Waverley yesterday - my first time, as I made the design based on a postcard - and I just thought - it would be lovely to see it again.
So, do you, or anyone you know, happen to have on your wall a counted cross stitch of the Waverley Paddle Steamer from DevaStitch Designs?

Not sure how to triangulate on the problem, but for the last two days I've not been able to upload images to pixelfed.art from my phone.
Yesterday's sketch had to wait for me to turn on the laptop and use that instead.
Anyone having similar issues?

Today's #ArtAdventCalendar was painted #EnPleinAir, as a demonstration, and then tweaked with a bit of penwork when the watercolour had dried.
I'm not likely ever to frame it, but for a subject I really wasn't in love with, I'm quite pleased with it!

For this week's #ArtAdventCalendar, in honour of the publication this year of my book "Dreams of Amarna", a sequence of Egyptological pieces..
This is one of the #EgyptianMarginalia I painted to illustrate the book, based on a small carved stone head, thought to depict one of the princesses, daughters of Akhenaten and Nefertiti.

For #ArtAdventCalendar today, a warm and tranquil afternoon at the Convent of Cork, Portugal.
I was trying for a Hazel Soan-style varied wash, but didn't quite achieve it. I still rather like it, though.

Out and about the last few days, we've been dodging e-scooters a lot. The vast majority of the riders seem to be young men. Is this universal or just one of those things?

So, I used to be able to print documents in reverse order, so that I took them off the printer in the right order to read. There was an option in the print dialogue, I'm sure.
I have a feeling it was removed during one of those Involuntary Upgrades that Microsoft has been doing.
I've been using Windows for years because of various collaborative things that broke when going from Word to LibreOffice. That isn't happening anymore.
The next computer will not be a Windows machine.

Inspired by the success @npub1uqn…lhdy recently had, can anyone help us track down a poem or something which includes this line:
"To ask the Angel of Death to turn his back for a while to settle a lifelong doubt about feathers and the fixing of wings."
This is something an old friend of my father's had heard in his youth, and never found again. We've been trying to track it down for decades...

For today's #ArtAdventCalendar, a very important little painting. This was painted #EnPleinAir, on the second day of a course in #PaletteKnife painting. The weather was closing in, and I had to paint fast to cover the canvas before the rain got to it. It's the best thing I did all week.
So I learnt that I have to work fast. By all means, look, think, try to be considered, but once the thinking is done, move fast.

Another sunny day for the #ArtAdventCalendar.
I'm frankly astonished by this one. It's absolutely not a subject I would choose - it involves painting people, eek! - and I did it as part of an online workshop, all of which would normally result in something that would go in the bin, and certainly not be shown to anyone!
But this is atmospheric, I think, and if not actually accurate, it is at least lively.

I was rather pleased with this one - a corner of a rather lovely cafe in Belem, Lisbon, in soft pastel.
The tangle of chair legs and the gloss on the copper pot offered very different challenges. So did the assorted textures of the vegetation. A memory of a lovely day.
