@nprofile…p4t6 I understand what you are saying, and the answer is no I don't read the headlines because I understand their intent the same way that you do.
However, I don't believe someone else's lack of ethics justify mine, so rather than try to imitate an unethical if affective method of operation, I choose to create my own social media nodes and try to allow them to actually be effective for those who prefer honest human communications.
Friendica in particular I founded this node in 2020 after being excised from Farcebook for challenging the mainstream narrative on the death vax. I was willing to throw effort and resources into it and today in spite of being one server of about 650 or so friendica nodes, it carries 17% of the friendica traffic.
I did went with friendica because it allowed long format posts and discussions like facebook and with the bookface schema looks like facebook only works better.
So I've tried to approach this ethically and I think my traffic shows my
approach is justified.

Seriously, I spent 30 years suffering from severe anxiety, probably as many different SSRI's and NSRI's, what finally got me out of it was that I was offered a mindfulness class by a Buddhist group, took them up on their offer, and within one month (4 hours worth of classes) went off my Paxil cold turkey never looked back and in the 14 or so years since haven't suffered anxiety. Not saying what worked for me will work for you but the investment was minimal and the rewards huge so worth checking out.

I see it this way, we have intellectual bandwidth, finite communications bandwidth, finite resources for addressing real issues affecting our well being.
Social media tends to be driven more by emotion than intellect, if we allow it to be, but someone getting their dopamine hit isn't going to benefit society.
Addressing real problems such as how do we resolve disputes without violence, or how are we going to grow and transport our food when the economically recoverable fossil fuels run out, these things are worthy of our thoughts.

@nprofile…ryzy @nprofile…9ant I think we would have a better chance at arriving at real solutions, mapping a path to a better future for all of humanity, if we dropped the tribalism, accept the fact that our current versions of governments involve humans who are fallible but also temporary and that rather than getting over engaged in personalities our energy would be better spent developing solutions. What I see is a pie too small for the people, with everyone fighting over dwindling pieces and those pieces dwindling further because of the pie, energy, resources, and human lives, being spent on said fight when we now have at our disposal both the technology and the resources to make a pie large enough to satiate us all.

Second, space redistributes blood flow, without the effect of gravity, and gravity is still there it's just you are in a free fall in orbit so the effect is not felt, it tends to concentrate in the upper body distorting features.

We need to divert this money wasted on military adventurism and instead put it into infrastructure, electrify our railways, consider a dual electric train and super-grid corridor, the biggest cost of either project is acquiring the land so why not combine them into one?
We need real energy solutions to provide base load energy, wind and solar don't do this, geothermal could, and we could tap enough geothermal to power the entire nation from Yellowstone region alone.

@npub1y6c…27jj You're welcome, I had a cat that developed this and sounds very similar, unfortunately my cat developed an additional problem in that he lost his sense of taste/smell so ultimately starved to death in spite of treatment and if you with radioactive iodine for treatment is unfortunately a potential side effect. But there are other treatments.

Sounds like hyper thyroidism, very common in older cats, and treatable. If their thyroids become too active their body temperature goes up, their rate of burning calories goes up, there are some other off shoots but it should be treated.
