Apparently the UK Government has a consultation going on about the extent to which evidence generated by software should be considered reliable in court.
Given the number of developers and sysadmins there seem to be around these parts I thought it was worth sharing here for anyone who might have something constructive they'd like to submit.

I used to use bittorrent sync til that got broken by an android update. I used syncthing on a previous phone and I've heard on here that that's back working again but haven't had the chance to try setting it up again.

possibly, I know they've got progressively more anti-user as time has gone on and something must have changed between May and today which changed the storage location.
It's a total PITA when you're trying to copy files out using your USB connection and it just isn't where it was last time.

OK, so while the "external" storage folder used to be
... \Internal shared storage\osmtracker
It is now:
... \Internal shared storage\Android\data\net.osmtracker\files\osmtracker
because _of course_ every android app has a different idea about what the file path is, why would anyone ever need to know where something was or why there are now two copies of it?

I know you exported them somewhere because my phone complained about storage space. But where?
The old folder hasn't had a track added to it for 7 months, so where are the new exports?

Does your dictionary also include the word condescending?
Saying that sites can't see Mastodon's ability to generate traffic and so will be disinclined to support it doesn't imply that that's its "sole" use. It's just saying that its use is harder for them to see.

I think the point is that this policy makes it completely impossible for orgs to see the utility of Mastodon* and so it will be scrubbed from the things they're willing to spend time on.
*Unless they have enough control to add tracking IDs to the URL (which they don't for organic mentions).

Can the EU parliament even amend the legislation it's considering?
I was under the impression that it can only approve or reject whatever the Commission hands it.
If the Commission are the only ones that get a say in the wording they are the ones that need to be convinced.
