Same. The first thing I was worried about was the upcoming rug pull on June 22, when they switch it to usage based – get us hooked on something amazing and then take it away. Thankfully, that’s not the case. It’s not much better (if at all) than 4.8, at least based on one day of serious use

Sometime I wonder: let it crash. Let it crash all the way to zero. And I will ride with it. Because I have nowhere else to go. Where will I go? Back? There is no back. There is only here, and here is where I belong in the most unbelonging sort of way. Just like everyone else here belongs in an unbelonging sort of way and that is where the belonging comes from.
But let it crash to zero. Maybe. Because then, the illusion will finally shatter and there will be no place to go other than elsewhere. Because then, the hope would have been a lie and it would have been a lie we needed to tell ourselves because we needed to believe it, and not believing it would mean not belonging.
But also, let it go to infinity. That would be better. Maybe.

I am deep in bikeshedding territory with Claude at this point. I've spent the last two days putting in safeguards to prevent future tech debt in my app – pure process and scaffolding code. It has metastized from one single story to 25 and is still going strong. Reversing the tech debt (if and when it ever came) would be faster than this.
One day, someone is going to write a book about coding in the age of Claude and it will be comedy gold

Nostr is dead.
Well, not quite dead. Not dead dead. But dead-ish. We've been here before. Maybe not as bad as this. Maybe a third-step-cousin-in-law kind of close. Last summer. And possibly the summer before that.
But at other times nostr has not been dead. Maybe not fully alive. Definitely not alive alive. Alive alive was Dec 2022-April 2023. Once in a generation kind of alive. The kind of alive that makes it worth being alive. But no, that was it. That was the one time.
But the rest of the time, other than now and last summer and the summer before, it has been not dead. Because every time you think it's dead, you hear the tiny ping of a zap from six feet under. And cadavers don't zap. They don't post memes and they don't fight vigorously out in the open about topics very few people want to understand, let alone care about, and they don't do other stuff. Like music. And film. And believe it or not, books too. And they don't zap. I said that already but it's worth repeating.
So, what's the point of all this? There is none. Other than nostr is dead. And that's okay.

The year is 2036. The bitcoin price is six point nine million tethers. You, a slack jawed, washed out shitpoaster, who’s crowing achievement in life was peaking at #673 on the nostr rich list for a brief three hours in the summer ten years ago (it was a Sunday – things were quiet), are now drained of the joy and creative energy you pretended you had but never actually did when you were a decade younger but at least the pretending got you a few likes on nostr and that gave you meaning and purpose. The only thing you have left now is consolidating dust – the1302 sats you were zapped in total during a frenetic onchain zapathon that was spread across 34 utxo that you had to wait ten minutes (on average) each to be confirmed. Your wife’s boyfriend left her and then she left you. The cats are dead. There is only dust.
