Since I'll be shutting down #AllThingsTech my goal is to find a server that's not large like Mastodon.social or anything similar, an instance that is run by a great admin and great moderators, has a post character limit of at least 1,500 characters and hopefully poll option limits of 8 - 10 or more.
If you know any instance that fits those requirements, please let me know. I'm open for suggestions from all of you as I'd love to find the best place to call home.

The announcement that we made tonight with regards to #AllThingsTech shutting down in the coming weeks is something I had hoped would NEVER happen. But it something that unfortunately has to happen at this time.

I totally agree that anything 2,000 and beyond is definitely a blog post, and even at 1,500 could be at times.
I feel I'd regularly use 1,000 - 1,500, but rarely, if ever, would I go beyond that.

Looks at these temperatures! Absolutely beautiful and amazing!
And they are predicting we could get 3 - 4 inches of snow due to this winter storm that should be moving in around 1pm EST today. Makes this so much more enjoyable if that happens!

😰 I have a 30 minute meeting with my two immediate supervisors today. It's just a check-in to see how I'm doing and how my training has been and if I'm ready to move out on my own and start my regular shift and end training. That's definitely a HUGE downfall of the Fediverse in my opinion is how slowly features get added or even planned out.
This is certainly something that we should have had quite some time ago at this point. It's not like the Fediverse is only a year or two old so this could have been added by now. New features being added seems stale in a lot of ways here, as they just take forever and then some.

I see Mastodon is going down that Google+ rabbit hole of "it's dead here" "it's too quiet" "there's nobody here" "the numbers are falling off".
It's truly sad to see. While yes, the counts might be down, but there are still hundreds of thousands of users here, and if you follow the right people/accounts, your timeline/feed won't be "dead" or "quiet" as you are claiming it is.
It's just really sad to see that kind of negativity get spread across the #Fediverse

Going to spend a bit of time today cleaning up my timeline and the accounts that I follow.
I'm going to start with anyone and everyone who posts Wordle/Heardle and other things similar and doesn't use hashtags so that others like myself who don't want to see those things can't filter them out.
It's so easy to use hashtags and only takes a few seconds, but it allows others to easily filter things out in way that we don't miss important things.

To touch on this briefly, as I've only got a second, but assigning apps to a desktop doesn't seem to be an option when right clicking an icon in the dock nor when ctrl-clicking an icon in the dock, so I'm confused on how to assign it to a desktop from the dock icon. Unless I don't have something enabled in Settings.

Ok all of you MacOS users out there, I need your help.
I'm looking for recommendations for an app that will remember window position and location.
For example, I have a couple of apps that I drag up to the toolbar and put them on their own desktop, but when I start them each day, their position on that desktop isn't kept, so I have to drag them there each day.
Hoping that makes sense and would like to know what everyone uses for this.

The wife and I have now started Silo, and in fact, we're 8 episodes into Season 1. Interesting show, but very confusing. I'm still pretty damn lost as to everything that is going on and why it's happening.
I'm considerably more lost and confused about this show than I was about Severance, which was an amazing show and I can't wait for Season 2 on January 17th.

That's good that it helps, again, especially since it is so expensive. I'm surprised our vet didn't suggest we put Bess on something like that when we took her a year or so ago. She's closing in on 17 years old and I know she's not in the greatest of health.

Oh wow, that's so sad to hear. What exactly is she on if you don't mind me asking and how much does it help?
I know most any prescription food is certainly expensive, but most are worth it depending on the situation.

This is very similar in a lot of ways, but it just allows you to add the feeds you want to see into one place. I feel it's made more for the reading side of things instead of the commenting side of things.
But you can build your own feeds from users in the Fediverse and even with other RSS feeds, so you can have feeds within feeds if you'd like.

I'm personally very thankful DC doesn't make decent movies. Keeps them from making more.
I just want something new. MCU has just been run into the ground over the last few years.
Kind of like the Patriots winning all the time. Gets super old, super quick. Move on and let something else take over as we don't need the MCU any longer. 🤪

I see they are making yet another Superman movie.
I was a Superman fan when I was a little kid. Now, I can't stand anything that is MC/MCU/DC/Comics or anything similar and personally, I think they are just running this stuff into the ground at this point.
How many damn Superman movies does one need and how many damn Superman movies do they feel they need to make? That series was boring LONG AGO!

How are we all doing today? I am doing well as we're nearly half way through the week.

Thanks to my amazing wife @npub1k2w…zl3e for the awesome Christmas present!
This has been her song to me for a long time, which happens to be a great song. And then she included one of her favorite photos of us, which was taken when we went to dinner at The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.

Very interesting. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or what's happening exactly.

Headache has finally gone away completely. I truly believe I just slept wrong or uncomfortably. Luckily it wasn't a migraine which it was feeling like when I first woke up.
Now that it's gone, the work day will certainly be better, and this meeting at 2pm shouldn't be bad after all.

🤕 I woke up with a horrible headache this morning. I guess I slept wrong last night as I woke up several times in the middle of the night and could feel my head hurting.
I'm hoping the coffee and aspirin helps make it go away before work starts in about 3 1/2 hours.

Went from two meetings to three meetings. Just got done with the first one, which was actually a good, energetic meeting. It was my first all-hands on meeting with this company, and I liked the things that were said.
Now time to attend this second meeting, which is a team meeting about our holiday schedule. Then a training meeting at 3pm.

You're right, they would want justice. But murdering someone isn't justice, and two wrongs don't make a right.
There's better ways to solve these problems outside of killing others.
While yes, we as a country aren't doing those better ways, that's what we need to strive for. We don't ever need to strive for murdering and be thankful for murdering.
He's a father, brother, husband, whatever and it's never good for us to lose a loved one, especially in a senseless murder.

While I understand what you're saying about the things he/the company has done and it being totally wrong. I don't agree that we should ever wish for them to be murdered in cold blood or anything similar.
Though I do agree that I feel something needs to change, but taking a human away from their families isn't the answer in my opinion.
Imagine if that was your significant other or family member. You'd want justice.

Blows my mind that people are thankful that someone like a CEO of a company is dead, or wishing death upon CEO's.
These folks are just like us in the fact that they are humans, have families and so much more.
How can someone be thankful that humans are murdering humans?

I'm still so baffled by the fact that the web version of Mastodon still does NOT have the ability to hit a + sign to add additional posts so we can continue a thought.
Instead, we still have to make one post that is 500 characters or less, then reply in the comments to that post to continue our thought.
