MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Billionaire Elon Musk likely broke Wisconsin law when he handed out $1 million checks to voters in the 2025 state Supreme Court election, a bipartisan panel has found.
The Wisconsin Elections Commission last week referred two complaints to the Brown County district attorney’s office, which can choose to bring criminal charges over violating the state law against election bribery. Prosecutors have 40 days to report back to the commission.
Musk, the founder of SpaceX and CEO of Tesla, was deeply involved in the effort to flip majority control of the highest court in battleground Wisconsin.
The tech titan and groups he supported spent at least $20 million on the candidate backed by Republicans, Brad Schimel. However, he lost by 10 percentage points to Democratic-backed candidate Susan Crawford.
A month after the lopsided loss, Musk announced that he would be spending far less on political campaigns. Spending on the election topped $100 million, making it the most expensive judicial race in U.S. history.
Prosecutors will decide if Musk should be charged over the $1 million checks
The complaints, which are confidential under state law, were brought by voters in Milwaukee and Green Bay, which is in Brown County. Musk handed out checks at a rally there just days before the election.
The Wisconsin Elections Commission, consisting of three Democrats and three Republicans, voted 5-1 in closed session on Thursday to refer the complaints to the district attorney, the commission’s spokesperson Emilee Miklas said.
Brown County District Attorney David Lasee, a Republican, did not immediately return a message seeking comment Tuesday.
The motion approved by the elections commission said it found probable cause that Musk broke Wisconsin law by making a social media post offering $1 million to people who voted in the Supreme Court election “in order to induce them to vote in that election.”

In a move which could endanger the ongoing peace talks with Iran, now at a critical juncture, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) https://www.pbs.org/newshour/world/u-s-says-it-carried-out-self-defense-strikes-in-iran-including-missile-sites-and-boats-placing-mines on Monday, May 25, that it launched attacks on Southern Iranian territory, targeting “missile launch systems and Iranian boats”.
It tried to justify the attacks as an attempt to neutralize alleged threats to its forces in the region from Iranian military positions.

In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC) claimed it retaliated by launching an attack on one of the US vessels in the region and shooting down a US Reaper drone. The Iranian military also claimed it forced an intruding F-35 and another hostile drone to retreat.

Talks in Qatar
The timing of the US attacks raises fresh concerns about the fate of the Pakistan-mediated peace talks with Iran, which have now shifted to Qatar and are reportedly at a critical juncture.
The Iranian delegation, led by speaker of the country’s parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, traveled to Qatar on Monday as its foreign ministry acknowledged significant progress in the talks.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and the head of its central bank are also part of the delegation.

“I stated that, after all the work done by the US to try and pull this very complex puzzle together, it should be mandatory that all these countries, at a minimum, simultaneously, sign onto the Abraham Accords,” Trump said.
Trump identified Saudi Arabia and Qatar as priority states to sign the accord devised during his first tenure as president as an instrument to make countries in the region normalize relations with Israel.
He also named countries such as Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey, which already have formal diplomatic relations with Israel dating decades prior to the conceptualization of the Accords.
Despite successive US administrations pushing for it, only four countries, the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco have signed the deal so far.
Most of the other countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia, have resisted US pressures to join the Accords or normalize relations with Israel, declaring they won’t until there is an independent Palestinian state in the occupied territories.

So, I had a lot of beans that I needed to use up quickly. And I asked my Signal vegan group for ideas, and someone send a black bean brownie recipe and cookie recipe. I didn’t have most of the ingredients listed so I just went with what I had.
- Black beans cooked in a pressure cooker with very little salt
- Cane sugar
- coconut oil
- baking soda
That’s it, mixed everything, the consistency I got was slightly thicker than cake batter.

The Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI), a founding member of the Palestinian-led BDS movement, endorses the growing, organic consumer boycott of Spotify.
In October 2025, Spotify users began to hear racist recruitment ads for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as the agency continues to terrorize immigrant communities and those in solidarity with them across the country.
Spotify’s complicity in Israeli apartheid goes much deeper than the typical lifecycle of these unethical and potentially illegal ads. The company launched in the Israeli market with a multi-year deal with Partner Communications Company Ltd, an Israeli telecommunications company listed in the United Nations’ database of businesses involved in illegal Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian land.
Any such deal violates the 2024 International Court of Justice ruling that Israel’s entire presence in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem, is illegal and amounts to apartheid. Failure of corporations to comply with international law may also constitute criminal complicity, according to leading legal experts.

Tommy Lee Walker was executed in the electric chair in May 1956 for the rape and murder of 31-year-old Venice Parker.
Nearly 70 years after a Texas Black man was executed in a case that prosecutors now say was based on false evidence and was riddled with racial bias, officials have declared that he was innocent in the killing of a white woman in Dallas.
At the time of the trial, prosecutors had alleged Walker attacked Parker, a store clerk who was on her way home, on the evening of Sept. 30, 1953. Parker’s killing took place during a time of panic and racial division in the Dallas area as there were reports that a Peeping Tom believed to be a Black man was terrorizing women, according to the Dallas County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
But an extensive review of Walker’s conviction by the Dallas County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, along with the help of the Innocence Project of New York and Northeastern University School of Law’s Civil Rights and Restorative Justice Project, found multiple problems with Walker’s case.

Old Man Happy Accident

Today, as an old guy, I was cleaning our glass top stove. The Weiman cleaner is in the cupboard above the stove.
I squirted a bunch on the dirty rings and then realized its normally white not blue paste.
Turns out I grabbed the Cascade Complete dishwasher liquid. Duh.
I started to wipe it and realized it was pulling off the baked on food better than the stove cleaning product.
Best it has looked in 5 years.
P.s. made sure to fully rinse all of it off so no residue remained.

An 18-year-old has been charged with allegedly performing two separate Nazi salutes at Canberra shopping centres and putting up “propaganda-style stickers” in recent months.
The man is expected to appear before ACT magistrates court on Friday, where police will allege in October a member of the public confronted him as he stuck stickers up at a shopping centre and then performed a Nazi salute before leaving the centre.
The man allegedly performed another Nazi salute on 12 December at a different shopping centre, police said.

Pressure is growing on member states to back a €90bn loan for Kyiv ahead of a Brussels summit
European leaders are being urged to decide whether to use Russia’s frozen assets to fund Ukraine’s defence at a time of unprecedented pressure from the US.
At a critical summit in Brussels on Thursday, EU leaders will be asked to make good on a promise to find urgently needed cash for Ukraine, with Kyiv under pressure to cede territory as Russia ekes out advances on the battlefield.
Arriving at the summit, Poland’s prime minister, Donald Tusk, said Europe had a choice between “money today or blood tomorrow”. He said he was “not talking about Ukraine only, I am talking about Europe. And this is our decision to make and only ours. I think all European leaders have to finally rise to this occasion.”

Commission registers European Citizens' Initiative on human rights standards

The initiative invites the Commission “to propose a regulation that establishes a standardised oversight of human rights across its areas of competence in its external action with third countries". According to the organisers, the "regulation should ensure that the Commission monitors, evaluates, and responds to human rights violations in a manner that is transparent, consistent, effective, proportionate and timely.”
Following today’s registration, the organisers have six months to open the 12-month period of signature collection. If an ECI receives at least one million statements of support during that time, with minimum numbers reached in at least seven Member States, the Commission is required to react, and decide what, if any, action it will take in response to the initiative, justifying its decision.

Germany: Pro-Putin lawmaker from far-right AfD party charged with giving the Nazi salute in the parliament

Nazi salutes such as “Heil Hitler” or “Sieg Heil” are illegal in Germany. Members of the AfD, which Germany’s counterintelligence service described in May as a demonstrably right-wing extremist party, have faced a number of scandals in the past over using Nazi salutes or slogans.
[Alternative for Germany (AfD) MP Matthias] Moosdorf’s case happened in June 2023 when, according to the public prosecutor’s office, he greeted his colleague in the Nazi manner by clicking his heels together and raising his right arm at the entrance to the locker room area of the lower house. The public prosecutor’s office has now charged him with using unconstitutional symbols.
The Bundestag has already stripped 60-year-old Moosdorf of his immunity from prosecution. [He] is described by critics as particularly pro-Russian.
Since the start of Russia’s full-fledged invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Moosdorf has opposed weapons aid to Kyiv, claiming that opposing Russia means that Germany will end up like it did “in 1945”. The Soviet Union and the Western Allies defeated Nazi Germany that year.
Last year Moosdorf also became a target of criticism even within his own party after he accepted an honorary professorship at the Moscow Academy of Music [he is a Cellist]. Until June this year he held the post of the party’s foreign policy spokesperson.
Moosdorf’s predecessor in that position was Petr Bystroň, who is of Czech origin. Bystroň now faces suspicions of accepting bribes from the pro-Russian “Voice of Europe” news server.
Germany prohibits the distribution or public use of symbols of unconstitutional groups, in particular, flags, forms of greeting, insignia, slogans, and uniforms. Among other things, the ban applies to Nazi greetings, as well as to the farewell phrase “with German regards” (mit deutschem Gruß), which the Nazis also abused.

Das mit Supercomputern ausgestattete Zentrum ist entscheidend für die Modellierung von Klima- und Wetterdaten und die Atmosphärenforschung und liefert auch der NASA und US-Behörden Daten. Für Donald Trump und seine Anhänger ist es hingegen „eine der größten Quellen für Klima-Alarmismus im Land“.

Hallo zusammen,
ich versuche mir zur Angewohnheit zu machen, regelmäßig zu spenden. Da nun auch Weihnachten vor der Tür steht, ist es wieder einmal ein guter Anlass darüber nachzudenken, wer gut etwas Geld gebrauchen könnte.
Wohin spendet ihr?
Meine Spenden:
Ich für meinen Teil sehe, dass ich immer mehr Open-Source-Projekte in meinem privaten Gebrauch nutze. Gleichzeitig wird klar, dass irgendjemand diese wertvolle Arbeit auf sich nimmt. Sei es nun das Fediverse, die Linux-Distribution, die Verschlüsselungssoftware oder der Tor-Browser. Daher werde ich im verhältnismäßigen Umfang kleine Spenden verteilen.
Außerdem bemerke ich, dass es im Bereich der (digitalen) Bürgerrechte in Deutschland zunehmend unbequem wird. Klagen vorm BVerfG kosten immer Geld. On the eve of the government publishing its long-awaited strategy to halve violence against women and girls (VAWG) in a decade, David Lammy told the Guardian that the battle “begins with how we raise our boys”, adding that toxic masculinity and keeping girls and women safe were “bound together”.
As part of the government’s flagship strategy, which was initially expected in the spring, teachers will be able to send young people at risk of causing harm on behavioural courses, and will be trained to intervene if they witness disturbing or worrying behaviour.

“We have proved it can be compromised”: A testing team was able to access sensitive areas undetected. If this were happen as part of a real attack, a whistleblower says this could have widespread repercussions for everyday people.

According to official information released by various governments, as well as commercial satellite imagery, there were at least seven groups of Chinese warships operating across the western Pacific at the beginning of the week.
Last week Defence Minister Richard Marles confirmed Australia was tracking several Chinese warships in the Philippines Sea, but the Government has not released any further information about their movements since.
On Sunday another PLA-Navy Task Group, which is currently on a far-sea comprehensive training mission, arrived in Jakarta to begin a four-day “friendly” visit to Indonesia.

This week New Zealand revealed that its largest naval ship, HMNZS Aotearoa, was closely shadowed by seven Chinese warships while helping enforce United Nations Security Council sanctions against North Korea in the East China and Yellow Seas last month.
