Been a Bad NOSYRz
I built my most recent one which is electric with a smoker box. Refurbished an AltoShasm dual oven o bought broken for $160. I have about $1,100 into. But it can do 40lbs of jerky in 1 smoke. It has 12 trays. I have a post with here or X on it.
May favorite is an offset firebox smoker if you want a classic wood/charcoal smoker. I don't have brand names. I'd recommend you look locally for someone who makes them with old tanks. They do great work.
I can't say what brand name, set it and forget ones are good tbh.

OpenBarnClawed a little project last week. In effort not to obtain a Cease and Desist letter I named the project NVGay Bitcoin Display, & made it batt powered. It came out pretty cool. Will open source when done & case is designed. Need to test battery life still.

I am not disagreeing on the speed of options on NOSTR. Really cool stuff. I am just saying that most people who could care less who hosts their data are not going to spend the time learning.
I want to say I heard primal has an out of the app store option that will help the user get going with follows and relay stuff. I do not keep up TBH.
Plus, it is mostly Bitcoiner content.

I like NOSTR. But it's not there for normal social media users.
If the use case is for sales or services that user restricts their customer base. It's is just one of many tools for your toolbox
Holding your keys for NOSTr Bitcoin, running a node or relay. Self sovereignty is more work many will not complete.
Most won't spend the time or get their 40HPW. I think there are projects now to make the use simpler. Similar to what Evan does with his Zeus wallet.
It certainly isn't the end all be all or will fix everything as the saying will go.

On the flip side
Running an active meetup takes time energy and SATs. It can turn fiat real quick.

Barn Jerky – Early Year in Review
Barnjerky began because store-bought jerky is more expensive and lower quality. I made a batch for my local meetup @npub1tam…0ynt as a fundraiser, and people kept asking for more smoked meats. So, I scaled a bit and built a pretty cool electric smoker (40 lb capacity), friend donated his slicer, we bought a badass chamber vacuum sealer.
Over time, it turned into a way to donate sats to Bitcoin projects/groups, & a way to teach my kids about business & Bitcoin.
I made fewer sats this year than last year because NGU, though I haven’t analyzed the total meat volume yet. Production is likely similar in smoked weight.
The best part: a 3.5 oz sack sold in Oct 2023 for $11 USD ($3.14/oz). Those sats today are worth $35.43 USD ($10.12/oz).

Bummed I missed the chance to have lunch. At some point I will be that way to shake hands.I have met so many quality frens via Bitcoin over the years. Shaking hands in person is great. The first person I opened a Lightning Channel with around 2019 still keeps in touch. They are half a world away too. Never would have met em without the corn.
