It's not really hyperbole. This summer I had a girl that I was chatting up because we shared a lot of common interests suddenly start sending me nudes. We didn't know each other, we weren't in a relationship, but she would end up getting drunk and sending me shit all that time that I didn't not want to see. I feel ya. I used to read a lot of manga and watch a lot of anime back in the day where there was a lot more diversity of material. Unfortunately the collapse of the industry in the wake of the Japanese bubble bursting gave them a lot less leeway for artistic creativity. What survived created the moe boom of the 00s, and that fed into what we now see. Basically pedophiles were willing to pay to read/watch what tickled their perversion, and so that overtook the industry.
It would be like if US media collapsed, but furries were still willing to pay for what got them off. In a decade you would see most US media catering to them.
There is still good stuff out there, you just need to either wade through the shit yourself, or get guided by someone that bit the bullet and did it for you.

Non Non Biyori
There is absolutely zero sexualization of any character in the series whatsoever. It is all about growing up in an extremely rural area and children learning to find the fun they can have without most modern conviences and the passing of the seasons as the characters grow and mature into young adults. There is one male that is visible in the series, the older brother of two of the main characters, and he is seen as some kind of oddity because of how proficient he is in everything he does.
I absolutely love Non Non Biyori. The manga is filled with these insanely beautiful and extremely highly detailed landscapes of the rural Japanese countryside. The most emotionally taxing part of the story is when the youngest girl makes friends with another girl her age who spends the summer living with her grandparents deep in the country and has to leave when the school year rolls around again. It is very slow, very peaceful, and very heartwarming.

Yeah it was supposed to be a simple somersault sento, buuuuut this being Crazy SKB that wasn't crazy enough so he had his ring gear filled with firecrackers.
The Japanese death match scene was so much fun back in the day. They used to do legit retarded shit. Back in the day FMW almost killed The Sheik and his real life nephew Sabu in a burning barbwire death match. The gimmick is that they replaced the ropes on the ring with barbwire and then wrapped the barbwire in gasoline soaked rags. When the match started they set the barbwire on fire. Everything was going okay except some of the gas had dripped off of the barbwire prior to the match starting. This caused the ring to catch on fire. The Sheik ended up having to go to the hospital for smoke inhalation and 3rd degree burns.

Originally Onryo was a freelance worker that used to do crazy insane stunts in order to get booked. Onryo himself was a big fan of the Japanese hardcore punk scene and ended up becoming good friends with the found of Qp-Crazy, Crazy SKB. Crazy SKB was the one that suggested to Onryo that he start his own wrestling promotion and fronted him the cash to do so.
Crazy SKB was featured heavily in a lot of early Triple Six shows including a Twin Towers Explosion Fire Death Match in which he teamed with HARASHIMA and Jun Kasai to face George W. Bush, Osama Bin Laden, and Saddam Hussein.

You can recognize that something is trash and still enjoy it as a guilty pleasure. The vast majority of isekai are just garbage, but that doesn't stop me from reading three or four chapters a night as I lay in bed waiting to fall asleep.

An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded.
Thoughts are viruses, memes. Most people are retards and not mentally strong enough to defend themselves from ideas on their own. That is why things like religion exist, to provide a layer of protection from harmful thoughts for people who lack the internal fortitude to reason through everything for themselves. However in the current world there has been a concerted attack on organized religion in order to subvert and destroy it so that people will be less resistant to hostile ideas.
If you live in a society that has weakened social defenses and is experience a non-stop assault from people utilizing these negative thoughts to weaken and destroy you, then having a closed mind is the best personal defense you can get.
Me, I am a retard and know that if I had an open mind I would probably end up having someone talk me into accepting things which are unacceptable sooner or later. I can't argue for shit, my reasoning is a little wonky. The only way I can protect myself is to close my mind to even listening to things that go against the programming I have in my head right now. To treat anything that challenges my world view with the utmost hostility, and to advocate for the people that push these toxic ideas to be destroyed.
