They are about 30 minutes from the Trans Lunar Injection or TLI burn, scheduled for 7:49 p.m. EDT, that will sent the spacecraft out of Earth orbit and to the Moon. They have completed the work with the exercise equipment and the contingency water collection. The pace of operations is increasing with the need to get things squared away before the TLI.

The astronauts are waking up now and getting ready for day 2 of their mission. All is going well.
Wiseman and Glover will begin their day setting up and checking out Orion’s flywheel exercise device.
Later, the main event of the day – the translunar injection burn, the maneuver that will set them on the path to the moon, will be done by Orion’s main engine on the spacecraft’s European Service Module.

Everything seems to continue to go well. The astronauts are stowing gear and getting ready to sleep for four hours. They will then wake up and perform a burn to adjust their orbit. Then they will sleep again for five hours. After this sleep period they will begin preparing for the burn maneuver that will take them to the moon.

Now they are performing some maneuvers to pilot the spacecraft as would be required in docking maneuvers.
They are going to undock from the ICPS (the first stage) and then approach the ICPS as if it were something they were actually docking with, coming close (15m) from the ICPS.

Whew. That was crazy.
For about 10 minutes they lost comms with the spacecraft.
They rebooted the ground communications system, and are now talking with the spacecraft again.
Apparently the astronauts could hear mission control, but mission control could not hear the astronauts. Some bidirectional data comms were never lost.

Absolutely agree. But have a somewhat different perspective.
As an open public platform the network is what we make of it. It is not inherently one way or another, and like any open community there will be bad actors. The solution is to invest the effort, confront the bad actors and build an inclusive respectful network. Once we brand something as being a certain way, then we have given up on the hard work of creating strong defensible counterweight to corporate domination.

Bluesky and Wide Decentralization
Contrary to current perceptions, Bluesky can not be widely decentralized because full independence on AT Protocol simply costs too much. This is not something that can be fixed. It is based on the inherent architecture of the protocol.

You raise a very interesting point. Think part of it is that these companies are not in the service business so much as they are extraction industries. As such, their attitude about their customers is how to bamboozle them. They regard them as rubes, and the ads demonstrate this arrogence and disregard.

Been traveling, meeting friends of extended family members, and listening to conversations about how great AI is. Apparently, AI is really good for: thank you, sympathy, birthday, and valentines card notes. People who say they have always struggled with expressing themselves effectively in print are reporting they now 'write' really heart felt, engaging and well crafted messages.
Also, apparently 'quantum' is a real scientific explanation for God.
Really looking forward to going home.

Nobody owns Mastodon, and there is no algorithm. In this era of algorithmic information warfare amplifying and suppressing everything, it is great to find a place where you are not constantly being manipulated by billionaire owners.

Other resources like Cruchbase (https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/bluesky-514d) and Cbinsights (https://www.cbinsights.com/company/bluesky-8/financials) don't include a Series B round and have total invested capital at $23M ($8M seed and $15M series A).
A Business Insider article on January 7, 2025 reports Bluesky was close to closing another round lead by Bain Capital (https://www.businessinsider.com/x-competitor-bluesky-valuation-new-funding-round-2025-1?op=1), but there was never any follow up.
So how much money has been invested in Bluesky, and by whom?
It remains a mystery.

Who owns Bluesky?
The curious mystery of the Bluesky Series B funding round.
Did it happen?
If you look at pitchbook (https://pitchbook.com/profiles/company/484831-81) it seems Bluesky closed a whopping $97 million funding round resulting in a $700M valuation in January 2025. VCpedia lists Greylock, alumni ventures and Skyseed as participants (https://vcpedia.com/rounds/5195).
The interesting thing is there are no press releases or other media coverage confirming this financing.

Not some deliberately misleading two year old press release. Who are the owners of the Bluesky PBC corporation? Is there any debt or warrants? To whom? Where is the money coming from?
Why is this a secret?

Can get on board with "vote blue, no matter who' in the GENERAL ELECTION.
But, this is PRIMARY season. The way we get better policies is both to elect more Democrats and to elect better Democrats.
And now is the time to elect better Democrats.
There is nothing inconsistent about advocating to replace any of these politicians with someone who will fight harder for Democratic principles in the upcoming primaries, and then supporting whomever gets the nomination in November.

Call For A Toxicology Study - Portland Chemical Gas Attacks
Trying to help call attention to this matter of public interest.
Many people, including young children, in Portland have received very heavy chemical gas exposure over the last few days. There are reports of symptoms including respiratory distress and disorientation.
McNadoMD (see below) is putting out the call for medical toxicology experts to assist with analysis and identification in this public health matter.

Have a good friend who is a retired Chief Science Officer for a big pharma company. He says the entire FDA/Industry process for drug approvals has been destroyed resulting in a 50 (yes 50!, half a century!) setback to worldwide drug development.
And it will never recover, because now trust is wrecked. Other nations will try to fill the void, but they need to build everything from scratch. The US was the only game in town for safe drug R&D, and it is simply gone.

Add to that, these are not by and large trained professional people. They are generally immature racist chuckleheads who thought they were signing up for RL Call Of Duty.
