Honestly I'm out of my depth for investing that isn't Bitcoin related. I just dont know enough about how most of it works to talk seriously about it. I just had fishy feelings when I heard the basic IPO details. Like I recoiled and laughed, but I don't know why other than the valuation vs income. And maybe I'm not giving myself enough credit. I'm kind of sick of hearing industry complain about the lack of skilled labor while they refuse to build and retain those people. I've experienced this personally at a company I already work for. Like I am willing to grow and fill in skill gaps. I can fucking read. I can study the specific literature, technical manuals, and research.
They want people with a ton of specific experience at a low pay. I don't believe we have a shortage of people wanting these jobs. We have a shortage of true leaders and educators in industry.

I frequently see people use the American Revolution as a justification for political violence. What I think they miss is that the ultimate goal of the war was 1: create a better system (not just destroy shit to land in a worse place) and 2: end up with a system that makes it much easier to live more freely and initiate change without shooting people.
Yes, they shot people, but I think with the goal of not having to again. I don't think they wanted rule by force, even if they were using force to get there (I view oppressive/offensive and defensive force differently, but that's a different conversation).
Obviously (I have notes complaining ad nauseam, so I won't engage with whataboutisms), we didn't end up with a perfect replacement and will always have work to do. But I think we have it pretty good compared to everywhere else and what we had in the past. I can afford to go anywhere in the world, yet I stay.

My Yeti bottle lid doesn't give much to hold onto when taking it off the bottle to refill. The gasket also makes it even harder to get off. I discovered that if I tighten the lid a bit, it's much easier to remove. Probably half or less effort.
I'm sure there's a lesson in that.

That's why I generally consider a Bitcoiner to be someone who uses Bitcoin for one or more of it's virtues or would if they could (meaning they philosophically agree but just can't for some reason). Landing on any single specific requirement is arbitrary.
A miner might add mining to the requirement. Is anyone not mining a less than? I don't think so.
Having these stringent requirements for an arbitrary definition is exclusionary of beginners and adds nothing of substance. It's just shame based bullshit.

While I don't consider deeds to be my purpose in life (meaning I don't go looking for chances to do them constantly), I learned how to do them best for me pretty early on. I call this "score keeping." I don't loan friends anything. I'll give them a gift, but never a loan. I'll just say no if I can't give something as a gift, or give only what I can live without having returned.
I've known score keepers and I didn't keep them around long. It's an obnoxious way to live. On the other hand, it is important to realize when a relationship is demanding far too much as a trend. Some people just take.

I don't think it's realistic to hinge ownership on never being able to legally lose a thing or face some legal use issue. But I limit that to property rights issues handled by civil courts. Criminal only for things that are directly meant to harm others. Say dumping some toxic material in a water way knowing it'll pass down to your land. Easements, water ways, all issues that have to be addressed.
But yeah, the other stuff is bullshit unless it does the aforementioned somehow.
