I have never regretted building a rocket mass heater in our living room when we vuilt the house 3 years ago. After 3 winters even my wife agrees it is easy to light and usually in northern Missouri winters every other day is enough for our ~1760sqft ICF house. No furnace nor central air, and we use about 1/3 cord of wood per winter. Maybe less unless it is a relatively rough one. At $10/bundle(about 1/3 cord) from a local Amish sawmill that os our primary heating.
