They take out loans directlt or indirectly, which mints digital bank deposit money, but at ever faster and larger scales and it wont get paid back. they just take out larger loans next time to roll over previous ones... this de facto printing is the essence of the capitalist class privilege 🤷‍♀️

Bitcoin isnt really a commodity, its more like a network contract ppl can join.
Austerity is a complex phenomenon.
Nobody said anything about tax cuts or stopping government spending.
Also governments already successfully prosecute and confiscate funds and continue to do so if anyone commits tax fraud (its much more transparent)

it does not use http(s), but it can use activity pub vocab. ...identities are keypair based on blogs and users are public key addressed.
one can alwaya build a bridge, but it makes that bridge a powerful custodian which can censor and impersonate users - and if there wqs native support, that would be much cooler 🙂

I checked the agenda but i am not sure where this fits in best, but would be happy for guidance.

hm, i differentiate between a theoretical ideal and here i agree with you, and an observed reality.
in the US, look at trump and billionaires funding who rules and in the EU, its not that unsimilar. People can only vote for the candidates proposed and only every 4 years - parties internally are not democratic, so what options ppl can vote for is pre-selected and even then, lobbyists fund and politicians do the opposite of whata promised - most extreme recent example: Merz

so we can connect, share and even work with each other person to person with full co trol over out data.
this requires to include open hardware as well... the entire stack.
cant be done over night, but its the only way to ensure privacy without relying on politics mandating it or companies self regulating.
fediverse is gesture, but only full p2p will grt us there

BTC is a sclose as you can get to UBI imho.
Elites will never do UBI unless they can still print and make the UBI worthless because inflation... just like wages never catch up... same with UBI so we all will complain until the end of time how you cant live from current UBI and we need more.

I dont get paid a dime to promote dat sadly.
I am a member of the dat-ecosystem consortium and that is unpaid as well.
It is all volunteering work and doing something else elsewhere might actually pay something, but it's just personal conviction that keeps me around dat.

A. The .5 is about UBI, not because i wouldnt want it, but rather i dont see a way to get there without "totalitarian surveillance" so i cant figure out how it can work.

I agree with what you say about trump, but i dont see anyone else before him would be any better - instead they just were politically correct. Deporatitions under obama were brutal as under trump. Guantanamo existed before. Dubious war mongering also since forever.

fair enough.
i am just sharing the official narrative.
i do trust mathias aka mafintoshbto some degree that this might be true, but i agree that i only truly believe it when i see it.
luckily the p2p stack as such is open source and the runtimes too - only the keet app isnt.
a few students i'm working with managed to build a basic p2p chat app with video conferencing in a matter of weeks with part time effort.
...but generally thats why i personaly focus on datweb

in the early days of nodejs we saw "nodeschool" events ...self initiative and ppl organizing small local meetings to learn nodejs.
we also saw many unconferences... small meeting organized by motivated open source folks and others to join for free and things were recorded and published. dialog was possible and everyone could do it, because it was low effort and everyone can record a presentation.
no need for cinematic style mega events ... it doesnt make the content better

i think conferences are not needed, inherently centralized and elitist/exclusive and only benefit the few privileged folks
instead we need small meetings in many places where ppl present to whoever shows up and record and publish online to share. other small groups do the same.
the internet and publishing allows this form to be an effective and way more efficient replacement.
big conferences are not needed.

Enshittification will happen, the question was never IF, only WHEN.
Why?
1. because signal supposedly will and cant sell your data because its encrypted and also in the closed source server side filter part, no data that goes through can be used to analyze and monetize it
2. because signal does not show ads
3. because signal doesnt charge money
BUT:
Signal pays millions yearly to big tech, e.g. Amazon/AWS big tech to be operational.
AND: Investors must recover costs!

The only "part of a solution" i can see in MMT is finally having a baseline for a discussion of WHY fiat is so broken and unfixable
The proponents actually believe that given the ultimate power of MMT, the rulers will print wisely and politicians will help the people and for some weird reason they couldnt until now - its not because they are corrupt, epsteined or never had good intentions in the first place - but its just there were higher forces and with MMT it will finally be solved

Until now, "taxes" have NOT been taxing the rich - the dvide between poor and rich ever more increases and thinking about this would change once you call things a new name (e.g. MMT) is kinda naive imho.
Keynsian economics is money printing for the rich but a story that it helps the poor, so things have a good name and continue to make things ever more worse.
Thats what the past up to now has been about.
"sovereign fiat" means ultimate power to governments - hope we never get a trump

@nprofile…0phl MMT doesnt change anything about how shitty things are because they have been EXACTLY working like MMT tells it, just that nobody was describing it as cleanly as MMT does - but that doesnt make it better at all - it's still as shitty as it is now.
Successful economists are always mainstreamers who justify and sell the system to the masses - economists who are critical fringe "heterodox/whatever" wont be let into influential important position, because the powerful want sales folks.

I think there is a bit of wishful thinking here.
1. IF the printers causing inflation would be invested wisely the masses could benefit, but in practice, as you say, it does not happen.
2. likewise, IF taxation did take from the richest it could mitigate, but again, in practice, as you dont say, it does not happen.
yes - MMT does finally admit reality - thus allows macro economic thought to be simplified - but at the same time tries to give it a "positive spin", even nothing changes

Yeah, they are actually imho way more subject ot folly than any of us, because their money printers means they always print more to solve their problems which shields them from being in touch with reality. It shields them from any feedback. It shields them from learning. They have to all "imagine" things in the abstract.
The masses feel the consequences personally and thus learn a lot more much faster, because they have to.
Lets stop their money printers! 🙂

Great - the rich get their wealth from the money printer - unlike popular stories which want to make you believe it is because they are exceptionally witty, wise, smart, hard working, you name it.
We all work for, demand and get paid in their money (they can print it).
They use it to payroll us all, to buy the lion share of the fruits of our labour and consolidate the means of production into their hands.
Lets start using new open source money they cant print

that said, its currently around 8 ppl working on it and thats 8x10-20 workdays.
but yeah. some of the ppl working on it live in war zones or have hard times in other ways. Everyone keeps their lifes together using ducktape and shoestrings and moving forward.
...good thing is, regarding conways law, that shpuld result in something really awesome, bad things - its quite adversarial conditions, thus ...the slow speed 😁
sadly dat-ecosystem doesnt have "holepunchto" luxury

regarding datweb - nope its not yet ready for "prime time" sadly.
main bottleneck is its all based on volunteers, so progress is slow, because ppl also have lives and bills to pay thus need to earn money somewhere.
...i think this is the main blocker 😅
...if ppl where working on it full time it wpuld have been released ten times over, but yeah.
i would say its 10-20 regular workdays away from being released, which could be a month, but there are weeks without work so 🤷‍♀️

100% agree.
official statement from mathias is keet will be open sourced eventually.
reasons why it is not:
1. prevent crypto fraudsters from copying and offering cheap knock offs easily and then marketing it to their victims
2. to stabelize p2p primitives before they get open sourced, with thebpurpose to prevent ppl building on top of experimental still quickly changing primitives that will later be deprecated and abandoned, which might cause unpleasant experience to users

...maybe it could be combined with ideas from overlay networks to reduce/prevent the heavy broadcasting needs in IPX and make routing smarter ...everything else seems to be already better in the IPX/SPX stack

imho thr only mature battle tested p2p stack out there is `dat`, because it is still improved full steam ahead and has been since 2013.
SSB started in parallel and communities overlapped big time and as already said, dominic tarr is a good friend of the ppl who started dat, they are both implemented in JS and both follow extreme modularity as a cultural value.
dominic tarr retired and until soapdog started picking up ssb, my impression was ppl moved on into web3 & startups doing p2p

yes, fair point, but this is just complementary to what i said.
The biggest issue is
1. taxation takes from ppl
2. inflation takes from ppl
Humans on top always spend to big projects who trickle down tontheir employees and direct suppliers, but the further away anyone is in this "hierarchy" from the money printer the less they get and end up with only losing all the time compare to those close to the source.
MMT is explaining and justifying what is already reality for a long time 🤷‍♀️

i think landlord is pretty accurate.
that's what i am using.
swrvwrs and clouds are "digital landlords"
...and imho in cloud environments the technical term for users is actually often "tennant" ....quite fitting.
But this also means the fediverse is still digital landlords 🤷‍♀️

was fuer checks und balances?
in der EU kommen sowieso die regeln von der EU. Die EU hat kein parlament was was zusagen haette sondern nur die undemokratische komission und seit 2008 ist angefangen mit dem EMF da noch viel weniger demokratie und die haben auch imunität usw.
also es wurde schlechter und schlechter ueber die zeit.
Und mit CBDC (central bank digital currency) wirds absolut totalitär - ein falscher machthaber in der zukunft hat absolute power dann.

i think the only way out is to create alternative open hardware and make ppl buy it... do what linux did and is doing to macos and windows ...to all hardware.
it took a lot of effort and when things started out itnlooked like a futile endeavour, but eventually linux won and is still winning (even though you still have later adopters or leggards.
...anyway, open hardware isnthe only way out i can realistically see. we cant beg our way out

i mean, all of p2panda, willow & iroh grew out of ethereum/ipfs venture backed developer ecosystem and fhey are all new and not as battle tested and not at all production ready.
imho the core building blocks alao dont make them suitable for generalnpurpose high performance p2p application, especially not an Open Data or Open Web infrastructure

the debt based money printers for the elite cantillionaires is what buys them the lion share of the fruits of our labour and payrolls us all to do what they want and allows them to buy/consolidate the means of production into their monopolies.
having so much wealth needs constant upkeep and operating it inefficiently makes losses, but printing money allows them to stay on top and socialise all losses... "socialism for the rich" a.k.a "crony capitalism" 🫠

the money printer a.k.a fiat currencies, here USD is funding and protected by the "proof of weapons" network
fiat money is inherently violence based.
