It's also pretty easy to figure out if you just look at the fact that masks have plenty of airgaps all around them, and that the virus spreads through airborne particulates not saliva droplets. Surgical mask boxes have had warnings written on them since the beginning that they are ineffective against covid. I've always seen masks as a tool governments use to keep people “on edge”, not as a way to actually do anything for disease prevention.
“Why does the government need to spend X trillion dollars and shut down millions of businesses? Well just look around, everyone's wearing a mask, must be pretty bad...”

Right now the build is a universal APK with I believe 4 different builds inside. They can/should be built individually though, so they'll be a lot smaller.

#[1] I think you need a private relay proposal to go along with this one. We will need private relays for other things as well (e.g. a company-internal Slack alternative), and unless I just missed it I don't think there's a NIP for that yet.
The socket handshake would need to be authenticated with a signature to prevent unauthorized access, probably with a pubkey whitelist on the relay side. (There's currently a NIP for doing authentication *after* the socket is open, but that's insufficient IMO.)
Clients / users also need a way to make it very difficult to accidentally share data with unintended relays. Maybe private relays should enforce that all requests be sent encrypted with the private relay's own pubkey or something. So if I'm logged in to a private account in my client, the client will connect only to a specific relay and encrypt everything just for that relay.

I definitely think there will be good use cases for private relays. For one thing a company-internal relay that functions as a Slack, but can take advantage of the whole nostr ecosystem in terms of clients and integrations, etc. It wouldn't be too hard to do either. Securely storing medical data and making it shareable and verifiable is hard. Maybe people will be able to use this NIP to create companies to do that on behalf of individuals, and people will have more options than government or the healthcare providers themselves.
Who knows how it will be used. I don't think it's going to be integrated into the social media clients we see today, but that doesn't mean someone won't find a really good way to use it.

Just to be clear, I don't see myself using something like this, either, and I'm really not sure whether I think it's a good idea or a terrible one. But that has nothing to do with whether or not it can be a NIP. Badges are a terrible idea and that NIP is already accepted and implemented by a bunch of clients.

I believe this fits squarely into the “Other Stuff” part of NOSTR.
I don't see why it should be a problem that there are NIPs for things we won't use ourselves, or that people might shoot themselves in the foot with. Self-sovereignty is tough. There are benefits and drawbacks. We are OK with someone having their life savings on a piece of paper shoved in the drawer, but not with somebody backing up and sharing their own medical data?
Yeah, maybe they screw it up and it causes a huge problem in their lives (in either case). But the option is still there because it's all part of what it means to have the choice of self sovereignty.
In any case, the NIP itself should be judged on whether it meets the standards required for a NIP, not on whether or not we think it's a good idea.

There are probably guides but I don't know one off hand. You need:
1. A lightning wallet that supports LNURL or LN address, and optionally NIP-57 (zaps). Options: Wallet of Satoshi, Alby, ln.tips, possibly others
2. A nostr client that supports NIP-57 (zaps). Different clients have different options: fixed amount, custom amounts, etc.
Looks like you already have WoS. For clients there are lots of options now too, but if the one you're using doesn't have the options you want, just try another one. Amethyst, Damus, nostrgram, snort are probably the best options at the moment.

The difference is that Alby is an open source extension that you can check yourself is doing what it says it is - you can even install it manually if you want - and that it is not loading random code from the internet in the same sandbox process as where you're putting your nsec.
There is certainly more trust required in Alby than, for example, a Bitcoin hardware wallet, but it's much better than websites.

They were not meant to be the same originally, but the random robot pic generator was too slow. I have an improvement that will hopefully fix it to be fast enough, then every account will have a different PFP by default (only within Amethyst, of course).
