As a sloperator, got 5.3 and Claude 4.6 have felt pretty equal. The difference in token cost however has been a factor 20x higher on Claude. Costs are calculated on using opencode's payment system.

Very useful, even though the context window of the older GPU is quite small.
I think Nvidia sees the future of this as well:

However, this article is disingenuous, it is not that "AI systems" are doing "exactly what they are told to do".
I reality, they hallucinate, can't actually understand user intent and often fail to say "I don't understand" or "I can't do that"
Instead AI's confirm an operation that has actually failed.
These things are anything but intelligent.

I've learned how to start a new session when the context window gets full and confused
I use my products and refine them over time, same process. I have multiple scripts that do things, sometimes interacting with each other. 40 years of starting and stopping services, grepping logs and writing very simple bash's scripts filled me with enough knowledge to use LLMs to of fill in all the blanks. It feels very much like the maker era to me, just on a different playing field.

@nprofile…cyex I was a maker in my early teens, connecting wires on my radio shack 100 in 1 projects kit. That's when I built my first transmitter. .2 watts FM.
I am feeling the same joy I did back then, even if nobody will use them but me.
I don't use an IDE. I describe what I want and copy paste entire python scripts, requiring a full re-write for each change so I don't mess up the code hacking around or inserting code changes.

I disagree with a lot of it. I've spent almost a full year vibe coding on 2 products. I don't think vibe coding was even a word then. The process has changed me internally. Knowing what I wanted, having a knowledge of systems but no way to realize my thoughts myself has been a decades long quest. It's been a wonderful journey. And over time I've been able to put these products into production and used by clients who never had anything like it.

Agree that multiple monitor work spaces needs some getting used to or customization. And that's what I like, being able to customize easily with help from Gemini.
Pipewire makes my podcast setup possible with Rodecaster, and I built my own playlist system.
Also love how there seems to be an open source tool or application for everything o used to have on windows.
I hope never to go back.

Another reason I prefer V4V over subscriptions.
People send us value when they feel it is of value to them. Typically they don't when they disagree with us.
What they send when they feel they've received value far outstrips a $5/month subscription.
People rage quit our show all the time, but there's no subscription to cancel, and if and when they come back they typically start contributing again.
