I think she may be referring to Bluesky's "stackable moderation" which, in theory, could allow different communities to express their own moderation preferences that differ from Bluesky's?

yes, I guess you could look at it as naive. In many ways robots.txt was naive too. But one aspect to this is that we need ways for rights holders to assert their wishes, so that courts in jurisdictions that care (e.g. the EU) can use them as evidence. And there needs to be more nuance than what robots.txt provides:

I read the Earthsea Cycle and am now at The Left Hand of Darkness in Ursula Le Guin's recommended reading order of the Hainish Cycle. I found a 1969 Ace Book paperback edition for $20 on Ebay which was fun to get in the mail today from Bellevue, Washington. It's in surprisingly good shape, and feels like a little piece of history.

I spent the better part of my day doing inscrutable things on the command line to try to get a very simple AWS ECS task to run (no point & click in the dashboard). I was hoping that understanding the pieces better would allow me to do the Terraform configuration. But damn, maybe it was a big waste of time, and I should have just started with Terraform. 😔☁️

My son has been permanently banned from WhatsApp after some confusion to do with his phone number in different countries (he is a journalist). Does anyone here have any experience dealing with a situation like this or have a contact at Meta/WhatsApp who might be able to help? He is distraught because of the groups and history he has lost access to 😔

I bounced off of the Earthsea Trilogy as a teenager, but here in midlife it really hit home. I kept flipping back to the map as the richly imagined network of places unfolded. I loved how the narrative also took place in an inner landscape, as well as the central role that names and naming played. #UrsulaLeGuin

I think Kagi makes a good case for a managed, open and regulated index to the web as a remedy to the Google monopoly https://blog.kagi.com/dawn-new-era-search This would treat a web index as an Essential Facility, like railroads that were initially built by private companies.
I guess this is similar to what DuckDuckGo advocated for in their testimony, but I have yet to read that. It really is exciting to think how an outcome like this could transform search and the web itself.
