Man, why is digital Manga so fucking expensive.
How is it that I can have a physical copy of some Japanese manga and "490円" (~$3) is printed right onto the cover.
But if I want to buy the same manga volume in English it's like $15 for a digital copy or $20+ for a physical copy.
Why the heck does whoever translates the digital version need another $12? The mangaka is the one I'm trying to support not some localizer (who let's be honestly, probably did a mediocre job).
Last time I checked Japan didn't have a 400% export duty on Megabytes

I really hope Euro-Office ends up being easier to self-host than OnlyOffice is. (Read: Possible for a human to deploy during an afternoon without requiring a fleet of containers)

I bit the bullet and ordered a Terramaster D9-320.
I was planning to build a new NAS on the start of this year, but that obviously didn't happen. So I decided I'll just buy a disk shelf instead, then I can upgrade the compute part later (whenever it becomes somewhat achievable).
This also means I've now officially blown the savings intended for the NAS, half on the Macbook Neo, the other on the Terramaster :^(

Man I'm really excited for the Macbook Neo and for once it feels like waiting a week for the release is actually going to be rough. Haven't been this excited about an Apple announcement since they first announced they were going ARM.
Just like how apple going ARM hopefully meant others were going to copy them and make more ARM computers (although so far laptop manufacturers and windows have utterly failed on that front), I hope the Macbook Neo is going to force budget laptops to actually be decent.
I want a world where finding a cheaper laptop where productivity basics like the screen and keyboard aren't horrible isn't difficult anymore.

God damn. 8GB on the Macbook Neo is going to be ROUGH if it's anything like my 2019 16" Macbook Pro.
On Sequoia my 2019 MBP used about 6GB when idle on the desktop. However after updating to Tahoe it uses ~8GB just chilling on the desktop, ~10GB once I open safari.
And my MPB has a dedicated AMD GPU, so it doesn't even need to use any of the RAM as VRAM, the Neo does use shared memory.
Unless the copy of Tahoe that ships on the Neo is tweaked in some way, that thing is going to have like 25% of its memory pool in swap while doing literally nothing.

@nprofile…h6ty I don't doubt it's edited. Every PR photo these days at the very least goes through lightroom or something to tweak the colors after all, and making some small tweaks in photoshop wouldn't surprise me at all.
I just doubt an AI would be able to properly render stuff like the reflections inside of the plastic bin.
And you're right, I don't get what's supposed to be wrong with the gloves, a bit big but otherwise look perfectly fine to me.

The plastics were far worse. if these things died it was because the whole driver unit fell out, the plastic hinge holding the driver unit in place cracked or the two black plastic things holding the two metal bands together snapped. And the originals had a really thin AUX cable so those cables would break constantly. (Hopefully a non issue on the modern bluetooth renditions)
Even if the headphones split in two you could just rejoin the two metal bands. The thin top band is the MOST reliable part of these headphones BY FAR lmao.

Because Xbox currently sells the weakest TV console of the generation (Series S) and frankly encourages you to use even weaker hardware, like your phone or cruddy school laptop to stream.
Windows is a very proprietary and confusing OS. Filled with telemetry and AI crap you don't have the "Freedom" to easily turn off.

I might not have been clear enough about it in the OP. But the goal was not to shill Trustly, the point is to check if there's a payment method available which bypasses Visa/MasterCard (And Amex I guess, if anyone uses those).
I recommend doing this elsewhere as well, not just on Steam. Surprisingly many stores these days let you pay directly from your bank, but many are unaware.

Regarding the Steam and Visa/Mastercard debacle.
Many people probably know I'm very anti-censorship of any kind, so I would like to remind everyone that Steam supports Trustly as a payment method.
While they are of course also a payment processor, it works by paying directly from your bank account, so it at least bypasses the physical card dependency on Visa/MasterCard. Of course it also means the card providers don't get to take a cut.
It works with surprisingly many banks, so I urge you to give it a try the next time you buy something on Steam.

But if you can solder I've heard that single switch repairs generally aren't that bad.

There is one weird thing though, you can set the temp all the way to 86°C for some reason. Which makes the temperature scale be very stupid.

Even better news about the AC. It works perfectly with Home Assistant via the Tuya integration.
I have it connected to my IoT crap network as well which is throttled to only 30 kbit/s per device. Still works great.

I got one of those portable split units intended for RVs today.
Works great, most of the noise is now outdoors, it freed up floor space, and despite only being 5000 BTU rather than 9000 BTU. It feels like it cools about the same amount thanks to the better efficiency.
Like every AC ever it is entirely incompatible with scandinavian windows, but clamping the indoor unit in place wasn't that bad. It's only like a 1/10 on the jank scale.

@nprofile…pz9v I know it doesn't care about the exact distribution method. All it cares about is that if you "bought" a game, it should be left functional when support is pulled.
Nobody knows exactly what effect SKG will have on internet-dependent physical media yet.
I don't expect SKG to directly kill key card games. But I hope it will lead to enough limits around marketing and labeling being placed on them that very few consumers actually want to buy one, and few publishers want to use them.
If stores can no longer call Digital Key Cards a sale, and have to print a fat "This cartridge is a rental product and is only guaranteed to function until August 2030" on the game's box. That'd be plenty for me.
Unfortunately I suspect Nintendo will get away with simply letting you download a copy of the game before the eshop shuts down. (Which sucks because your physical copy would be converted into a digital one, and probably be difficult to move to another console if your current one dies)

Exactly why games you have "bought" as a Key Card will stop working properly when the eshop is dead. If someone bought a key card after whatever SKG does takes effect, how do you convert that key card into something that's "left in a functional state"

No, but it forces them to remove any internet-dependent DRM before its end-of-support date.

SKG doesn't target only digital purchases either as far as I'm aware. Hence why it will hopefully protect physical games as well.

@nprofile…359z @nprofile…p3jt That's how it should be. Wayland should be a behind the scenes decision. KDE can move their focus to Wayland. But a user shouldn't necessarily have to think about that before Debian 14 or whatever drops and a year or two of development has hopefully ironed out the worst.
Everyone doesn't need to run Arch Linux for the latest feature updates, not even Linux enthusiasts.
This isn't Windows, we don't need to force breaking updates on users every 6 months to cram new AI features or whatever into the OS. If the user has to take some action it should be bundled up for the every 2 years they update their OS, or every 5+ years when they replace their laptop.

It's one of those filesystems I've heard the name of plenty and its infamous because its creator got arrested for murder.
Yet I've never met a single soul who has actually used ReiserFS outside of a quick test
