"Preventing these coins from being stolen" sounds a lot like taking away agency from the coin owners, active intervention, even if with good intentions is what the fiat system constantly does.
Giving people the tools to move them to a safe address seems way more sane to me, if they don't take action it's on them whatever the outcome is. Of course that assumes they're even aware of it, but in the end freezing it would have them lose their coins anyway so with the former there's at least a chance for them to safeguard their coins.
So either they lose it for not being in the known and not moving or lose from a direct intervention, which seems more hostile and against the Bitcoin ethos to me.
Now how much economic actors value non interventionism vs "good interventionism" is up in the air.
IMO giving options is better than deciding for users, taking away their agency.
But what is that about having to freeze insecure spend paths? Doesn't that still gives people agency to pick that option instead of just losing their coins by default to being frozen?

I believe it was mentioned in the documentation but according to some X users, the fact they retained the xpub indefinitely wasn't mentioned. Also people mention that it wasn't technically necessary either, that they could've used block filters instead.

Recently it came to me while listening to a gaming podcast that most of the topics in gaming are just people freaking out about the market adapting to current economic and/or social conditions. Then dramatically holding previous scenarios as a holy grail, e.g. 'job security', development time and experimentation trends.
If they knew that this is normal and expected, most of the commentary would be unnecessary. That ignorance also ends up in them begging for government intervention just so they can feel in control of something that is naturally ever-changing.
Attempted control, mind you, that often distorts the market and creates a lot of the very same issues they are mad about in the first place.

Nosotros came such a long way since I last used it, it's lowkey criminally underrated. It's so beautiful and has most of features I'd ever want, the only thing missing really is DVM feeds. A configurable Web of Trust filter setting, like on Coracle. Better threads view, like on noStrudel or Coracle.
Hopefully soon: a volume button for the video player. A lot of times I wanna watch/preview a video without sound playback.
Make the setting persistent too, to avoid having to mute it every single time.

Given that so much of the news is rage inducing events that is out of your control, we need a tool to parse what's useful and what's not and deliver only summaries of actionable tasks (with maybe sources of the reasoning) based on your own set of points of interest.
E. g. War starts between country X and Z: stock on ammunition Z, change investments from A to D, importance of structure A up X points in area E.
AI is the most obvious tool to consider here but hallucination is also still a thing.

Also, #bugreport after tagging someone while writing a new post I get a bug where I can't type properly anymore. You type letters and they don't register unless you press several times over and over for each letter. The issue goes away if you remove the tagging. Happened to this post you're reading, had to tag you as the last step to be able to write. Also happens in replies. It's Primal Android .

While I love and been daily driving Linux for years now, the fact you can't stream beyond 720p in most streaming services (because of DRM certificate issues) makes it a no-go to the most basic users.
It works for me cause I only use YouTube and Twitch, which work properly, but I need to pirate movies and TV shows.
Most specifically about SteamOS, it literally says in the page "Users should not consider SteamOS as a replacement for their desktop operating system".

I'm reluctantly still on X for specific comms accounts. I'm not on Bluesky.
From your selection I assume you're on iOS, I'm on Android and web. I use many clients interchangeably, that's one the perks of nostr. Some I use are Coracle, Amethyst and Primal.
You don't need to land on any one client but if you wish to, just stay on which you like the best. Primal is probably the most friendly for newbies.

While I do use that and appreciate being able to copy the nevent, a native link sharing pop up from pressing a "Share" button would be way friendlier to most people right? I believe it's an expected feature/behavior.

I wonder if it can be done client side though, without touching the base protocol itself.
Like, the client reads from the mute list of that profile you're visiting and "soft hides" the replies in it's UI only.
Then of course if someone uses a client that doesn't support the feature they will see the muted profile replies to that note normally.

Debian left X for not being able to moderate replies in their posts, much like it's like on Nostr.
I wonder if on Nostr there could be a way to hide comments from people you "blocked"/muted from showing up on your posts for others but still giving them the option to see it, much like how Coracle does it with WoT points.

I remember back when this kind of data initially came out that @nprofile…h2rn mentioned it was not really accurate due to the ability to make it seem like your node is hosted on one of these when it's not.
I'm not really technical so I can't really explain it, though the number of nodes that aren't actually hosted on these is probably quite small overall.
However I think this is a symptom of the quite relaxed environment LN is on rn, I believe if attacks were to start happening this hosting data would change quite a bit.
It's like bitcoin mining, if under attack it decentralizes more and more, otherwise it takes advantage of the friendly environment.

It's good to note it's a tradeoff, with WoT score set to 1, all the people who you and your follows don't follow are hidden along with spammers.
With it set to 0 it hides people with -1 WoT score, which, I believe, are people who the people you follow have muted or . Which is better than nothing but still a cat and mouse game, there will always be more spam accounts than muting. #nostr #WoT
